  1. I love the look on her face. "Kate Moss never had to put up with this sh--..."
  2. No, IED's was just a convenient example (specifically, a convenient example of a manner of exerting psychological pressure. Given that 30+ IEDs are detonated a day, but kill relatively few people, and VERY few Americans at this point, it's an ineffective manner of producing casualties. It's a very effective psychological stressor, though, as no one in a convoy ever knows where the next one's going to be.) The same thing could be said about sporadic sniper fire, or random rocket attacks on northern Israel, or the opening "shock and awe" bombing in the invasion of Iraq (though it's tough to conclusively define that as "terrorism"...but I could make a good case for it). But I was trying to make a specific point about psychological effects with my IED example as an example. I wasn't judging IEDs themselves, or failing to judge any other device, so don't read too much into it. Plus, if you're focusing on technology, you're probably missing the point. Terrorism isn't about the material used.
  3. You know, the burnt umber is rumored to make you smarter. It's supposedly tasty, too.
  4. That's not entirely fair. He did achieve everlasting notoriety with that breathtaking "Does sound travel faster than light in space?" question...
  5. Un sir prising, really. Of course, all the hot chicks in early childhood development classes already know their male classmates are gay, so by registering for that class you're automatically telling them "I have absolutely no interest in you whatsoever, but is that guy sitting next to you available?" So it's a self-defeating tactic.
  6. Yeah, right. Nice cover. We know you're a member.
  7. I don't know. I just thought the analogy really sucked. But hey...it's Ed.
  8. Yes. And I know that was a set-up, to get me to make what you perceive to be a value judgement about the Iraqi insurgency. So before you do, note that in my discussion of terrorism so far I've taken great pains to be value-neutral; most of my disagreement with JSP's definition, if you'll read back, were about the value judgements he made. So that "yes", above, is entirely judgement free. The tactic of using IEDs against occupying forces simply is what it is.
  9. There's a difference?
  10. Because blocked punts are much more visible plays.
  11. Yes, I mind. He's hitting .284 with 34 home runs, so it doesn't work. You have to pick someone who REALLY sucks. Try Jason Giambi.
  12. Because you're just being petty, and distracting from the fact that some of our former posters now over there are being serious ass holes. If you want to go for humor, post something like "It's too bad Kelly didn't use his autographed Brad Wilkerson bat. If he had, Dawn would probably still be alive, since Wilkerson's bat hasn't hit anything all year." In fact, I dare you to post that... (Yeah, I know that's sick. Dark humor is how I grieve. If I didn't make sick jokes about it, I couldn't make it through the day.)
  13. And your posts are less of a reflection on sue than they are on you.
  14. I was actually disappointed, listening to Bush's speech, when he warned the UN again that they risked irrelevency. I thought they achieved it over Iraq, frankly.
  15. How'd sue find about about Kelly, anyway? We know she didn't do an internet search...
  16. Go fondle your breasts, you gender-confused loon.
  17. If you plead out, though, you might get off with a sir spended sentence.
  18. Of course, the thing none of these reports mention is that in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, if we'd bombed Pakistan, the world would have backed us to the hilt. Even so, it's a good thing we didn't. "Pakistan supported al Qaeda" is true...if you're a simpleton without the intellectual capacity to walk and chew gum simultaneously. The reality is far more complex...
  19. Rangle and Pelosi vs. Chavez? What an intellectual cripple fight...
  20. A UN translator translating from Spanish to English? I'm willing to presume the translation's accurate...
  21. This is still cracking me up. "Sir charge". That's just sir real.
  22. You laugh...but the only reason it doesn't apply to Democrats is because they're not in power right now...
  23. It's a good thing you called the judge "sir", though. That "your honor charge" is three times as much...
  24. Then the correct post would be "Can you believe these idiots at this court can't spell 'surcharge'?" Not "I paid a 'sir charge', so it must be right." These are things that you learn from life experiences that don't include beating in mailboxes... (That was the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Really. "Sir charge". I've got tears in my eyes... )
