There is a new Checkers?! I heard Fran had to close the legendary one down a while back.

I think it’s 50-50 he starts game one, or within the first few.

The guy who owns Denby bought it and put his nephew in charge. They are open now after a massive cleaning.

I just bought a single order of wings from Duffs and it was over $14!

Jeez I knew food prices are going up and I haven't been to Duffs in a couple months...

but 14 bucks for 10 wings!

I quit at a dollar a wing - priced out of desire

As a companion piece to the Pizzeria thread, what is the best sub you have ever had?

My favorite is the Super Royal from John and Mary's, with a close second being a double steak, cheese and sweet peppers from Jim's Steakout.

Mine was the meatball parm from Fera's on the Boulevard but Barb always went  for the chicken finger sub from John & Mary's

There was and maybe still is one like that in the Green Acres area of Tonawanda on Niagara Falls Blvd near the freeway entrance called Mayback's. They had amazing huge subs back in the day.

Mayback's is still there - highly rated for the fish frys

  4. Look around your area - what signs are posted? Note the agencies. Contact them. Some realtors will look at a neighborbood and say it is below their $$ level.  I ran into that in a hot California market. There will be someone else that is interested. Zillow can be quite misleading if it is a hot market.

    Happy Birthday TSW.

What kind of birthday cake would be appropriate for the tailgate next year?  Maybe a cake in the shape of a giant pickle with green frosting? Or as someone said in that thread..."a giant abortion"?

Wow, that is spooky, some early oracles were pushing to trade up for a QB while complaining about the current QB, it is a time machine!

  6. Today Uncle Sam's is the name of a Buffalo surplus store, but back in the day it was first a disco known for its funky reverse dance floor and later one of Buffalo's earliest punk clubs. Uncle Sam's actually drew some pretty big names, too: Gang of Four, the Pretenders, the Plasmatics and the Ramones. At one point there were several other Uncle Sam's clubs operated by the same management team in Detroit, Des Moines, and Minneapolis – the last of these even made an appearance in Purple Rain.

The one in Syracuse is long gone: from Syracuse.com

DeWitt, N.Y. -- The former Uncle Sam's night club is going to meet the wrecking ball soon.

The long-vacant building at the northeast corner of Erie Boulevard East and Bridge Street, which also operated at various times as Suburban Park, the Country Club, the Scene and Oliver's, will be demolished at the end of March, said owner Grazi Zazzara.

Zazzara bought the building in 2008 for $500,000. He said he has always planned to tear down the building and develop the site for retail, a restaurant or other commercial use when a tenant could be found. He's said he's still looking for a tenant and is hoping that removing the building and cleaning up the property will help attract one.

"I didn't buy it for the building," he said. "I bought it for the location."

Built in the early 1960s, the building briefly housed a Polynesian restaurant before being turned into a night club. It operated under several different owners and names over the years.

The building has been vacant for about 15 years and has fallen into disrepair. Three bars are still intact inside, but the building's roof is caving in.

Since word got out that he is going to demolish it, Zazzara said he has been receiving calls from people telling him about their many fond memories of the place, some recalling how they met their future spouse there.

might do that///the post was suppose to allow those who have been fans attending games for years a memory of old things they may remember. Maybe I was a bit to melancholy, but who is a real fan and doesn't have too many tailgators shirts....in their drawer.

maybe McD will bring back the days when we can stroll along Jim Kelly Blvd with our chins up. If he does maybe I will visit Hammers.

Bills games gave me some of the best memories in my life....fans, friends, passion, beer, cheer, emotion, and today as I opened the cupboard they all came flooding back.

    thanks for realizing that.

maybe next year I will end my self imposed exile...

I found out this last season that you can just stroll down memory lane in the parking lot - come for the tailgate - beat the traffic out. Catch the game at some bar without the $11 beers and drunken crowd.

My other thread got merged with the Jacksonville one.

About 4 of us will be heading to Buffalo from Louisville, KY; we are looking for a good atmosphere.

Unfortunately ticket prices were way too much to make Jacksonville worth it.

None of us have been to Buffalo on GameDay.

What's a good spot to watch the game?

716 is very nice but can be problematic getting into - it gets crowded. Also Downtown is the Pearl Street Brewery.  Where ever you are staying there are plenty of sports bars that show the neighborhood nature of Buffalo. On Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda -  Devlin's and Caputti's.  On Hertel Ave  - Gecko's. In Amherst by the Marriot - Santora's. Those are some of my favorites.

There are a lot of things so great about that. No matter what happens to McDermott and what kind of coach he becomes I will always love him for that. It was so great and appropriate and wasn't risking an important moment for a sentimental moment, which would have sucked. Kyle was not going to fumble. The defense was not going to think he'd get the ball. He's a surprisingly great athlete. He's a scratch golfer so he has great hands. I can't overstate how much I love McDermott for doing that. It was so very great. And a good call.

I think back to Ditka giving "The Fridge" the ball instead of letting Walter score in a 37-3 game.  The opposite of class.

Poll should be done by age group.  For older geezers like me, yes.  For the youngens, no.

The Bills vs Dolphins was bad when it was Kelly vs Marino. But for sheer intensity the Buffalo Braves vs Boston Celtics was a lost worse. How's that for age group?

And here's another no look behind the back pass by Ernie D!
