Gonna keep dunking on the weirdos here who said Josh stopped putting in effort with his receivers

I obviously influenced him. A thank you would be nice. 😉

What a concept. Instead of breaking him down, and ripping on him his HC is actually being positive and building him up.

I mean you know he’s not going to break him down in a press conference. This seems calculated to me. McDermott is usually reserved when discussing players, good or bad.

Here's the full McDermott quote on Claypool:

"Very impressed with Chase. Really just starting with his approach, here's a veteran receiver, former high pick, that has been on a journey, right, through the course of recently in his career. I applaud Chase for coming here to see where things go. He's very focused, he's working extremely hard day in and day out. And embracing not just the wide receiver role that he could play for us, but also the special teams role that he could play for us. You don't find that a lot around the NFL where a player has been at a certain level and then is on a mission right now to reclaim what he once was in that regard. And those are my words, maybe not fair to Chase, respectfully, but I would just say like very impressed with his day to day approach, true pro, high character, smart player, and he's been a good addition to our team."

This is extremely high praise from the normally tight lipped McDermott. No clue if it will translate on the field but it's a good sign.

Building him up. McDermott knows what he’s doing. I’m sure Claypool is working his butt off but McDermott is trying to get the best out of him by boosting up his confidence.

Chan would clearly had the most success with Josh. He would've identified quickly the importance of surrounding Josh with a good OL & weapons early. The defensive guys probably would've stressed defense just like Derm has.

I love when people don’t believe a strong consistent defense doesn’t help a young QB.

Also Chan was basically the only coach to have overachievers as his top WRs. Chan was the best play caller but he thought he could do it with any WRs.

Marone and Whaley went Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods in back to back seasons to build around EJ. And they put a strong defense and running game around the QB.

    Fire McDermott now!

I’m with you. It’s been 4 months since I’ve seen Josh throw a football. Thats unacceptable.

His career has been underwhelming, he certainly does not have the "I didn't have a QB" excuse, his catch percent is Davis-esque. The concerns are very justified, no where near "zero sense". It is very much non-zero

They run similar routes. Lead the league in depth of target. He drops a lot of shorter stuff so that doesn’t excuse the drops, but the drops don’t affect the catch % that much. His catch % is low because of his depth of target. Just like QB completion % goes down the deeper the throw. Same thing.

There shouldn’t be any concerns. He’s not signed to a contract that should concern anyone.

  7. PFF ranks him the 18th best player under 25.

    18. EDGE GREG ROUSSEAU, BUFFALO BILLS

Rousseau has steadily improved, going from a 73.1 PFF overall grade as a rookie to an 80.7 mark in 2022 to finally being the 13th-highest-graded edge defender in the league in 2023 (87.1).

However, while Rousseau's production improved every season, he has yet to surpass 600 snaps in a regular season. The next step in his development will be keeping up the same production in an increased role.

They "started the offseason" with a WR1 who had just produced 1183 yards on 107 catches and 8 TD's.

Samuel, MVS and Claypool didn't even come close to producing those numbers combined.

The strategy the Bills have taken is to hope for unlikely results.   They did it to a lesser extent with Harty and Sherfield last offseason.   And predictably failed.

You are welcome to be satisfied with a stick in the eye or a kick in the nuts.......whatever floats you.........but don't try to tell us that p!ss is rain.........just admit you enjoy it because it's sterile and you like the taste.

160 targets. The question we need answered is can any of Kincaid, Samuel, Shakir, and so on handle targets like that.

    It’s hard to project.

You'll be proven wrong. Like always.

I always keep expectations low when I’m uncertain. A lot of uncertainty with the Bills. I just don’t think everything will go our way.

Last year they were 6-6 and I predicted they’d finish 7-10. I know what I’m talking about. 😉

Tua will be the highest paid QB once he signs his contract. Guaranteed. Does he deserve it? Absolutely not, but neither do most of these top 10 QBs. There’s warts on Joe Burrow, but he’s currently the highest paid QB.

The Josh Allen numbers are slightly skewed. Diggs accounts for 12% of our 2024 cap and he’s not even on the team. You take that out, Josh accounts for even high proportion. Still, these numbers are pretty tight.

And teachers get flack because they have the summer off too.

It’s just based on the league cap # and annual average salary. Not how much cap each year, which can fluctuate.
