They "started the offseason" with a WR1 who had just produced 1183 yards on 107 catches and 8 TD's.

Samuel, MVS and Claypool didn't even come close to producing those numbers combined.

The strategy the Bills have taken is to hope for unlikely results.   They did it to a lesser extent with Harty and Sherfield last offseason.   And predictably failed.

You are welcome to be satisfied with a stick in the eye or a kick in the nuts.......whatever floats you.........but don't try to tell us that p!ss is rain.........just admit you enjoy it because it's sterile and you like the taste.

160 targets. The question we need answered is can any of Kincaid, Samuel, Shakir, and so on handle targets like that.

    It’s hard to project.

You'll be proven wrong. Like always.

I always keep expectations low when I’m uncertain. A lot of uncertainty with the Bills. I just don’t think everything will go our way.

Last year they were 6-6 and I predicted they’d finish 7-10. I know what I’m talking about. 😉

Tua will be the highest paid QB once he signs his contract. Guaranteed. Does he deserve it? Absolutely not, but neither do most of these top 10 QBs. There’s warts on Joe Burrow, but he’s currently the highest paid QB.

The Josh Allen numbers are slightly skewed. Diggs accounts for 12% of our 2024 cap and he’s not even on the team. You take that out, Josh accounts for even high proportion. Still, these numbers are pretty tight.

And teachers get flack because they have the summer off too.

It’s just based on the league cap # and annual average salary. Not how much cap each year, which can fluctuate.

It's just mind boggling, isn’t it? You ever step back and think about the big picture? Makes me wonder how we ever got to this point.

Somebody could come out of college, get a "good" job paying $100k per year, get small increases for the next 44 years, work 50 weeks a year, 5 days a week, and make maybe $5-6 million.

And then we have athletes who can make TEN TIMES that amount for roughly 7 month's work! I guess they'll keep getting paid even more, until the fans finally say "we've had enough and we don’t care anymore." Personally, I'm almost there.

They entertain the masses. Everyone spends money on something that removes them from the reality of life. A lot of people choose sports.

Allen does much better leading quick receivers and good route runners vs accurate pinpoint passes. Not sure I understand what direction they’re trying to go with Coleman. Think another big int year incoming for Allen with little WR separation. The only guy I’m excited about is Kinkaid. He’ll be able to get open, but everyone else is easily covered

I don’t think we actually know. He had some throws to Kincaid he had to go get.

I think part of it was we haven’t had contested catch players in Buffalo as Allen developed. So when Allen was good it was all quick little shifty guys. Davis was horrible at contested catches. Davis and Diggs have had numerous one on one opportunities downfield and never really came down with it.  Maybe a couple times.

Shakir was known as a contested catch guy, even though he was smaller. One play I remember his rookie year was Allen just giving him a chance. It was a throw we don’t see Allen make often but I believe he threw it because he understood that Shakir can make that play.

Exactly.  That game was lost when they sent Bass out to attempt the kick.  Didn't matter if he made it or not.

Remember, the QB said he didn’t care how much time he left, he wanted the TD. The QB could’ve ran the clock down to zero by taking the shorter pass to Diggs.

Let’s not blame the coaches there. That end sequence was all player error. From Dawkins getting destroyed to Allen getting greedy.

We don't know for sure but there are signs point that something is possible with the WR group at Tenn.  They added C Ridley with a big contract to the holdovers of DHop and T Burks from last year.  Then they just added the FA Boyd.

You would think either DHop or Burks would be moved.  DHop has the larger salary and is on his last year of his contract.

I think they’re doing what a lot of teams are doing with rookie contract QBs, loading up at WR. Helps rookies develop also.

I was at the Bill's Chiefs game in Kansas City 2 years ago that we won regular season

And all of the Chiefs fans were complaining about spags and wishing they had Leslie Frazier

    Swear to God

One thing Spags and Ried do in the playoffs is trust their players. McDermott sometimes has trouble trusting his players to make a play, and he probably has good reason for that.

Spags and Reid let their guys play. They don’t get tight and play scared.

Once again - you overestimate what you need to acquire a player.  The contract is the salary, or remaining guarantees.  You don't have to pay any of the dead cap or outrageous backloaded amounts.  Like D Adams has $44M for 2025 and 2026, you do not need the extra $88M to get him.  No one is going to pay D Adams $44M next year, that is one of the reasons people think the Raiders would move him.

Another example is DHop, his salary is $8M, cap hit for 2023 $18M.  The Bills don't need to cover his cap hit or dead cap.  When the Bills get Tre's $10M they could trade for DHop because they have $8M covered, then immediately extend him 2 years, give him a signing bonus, and bring his salary down under $3M.

    Is Hopkins even available?

True,  but opposing fans say the same thing about losing to Allen.    It's hard to make plays against a great QB.    When you are in position against them.......they often get away.  Sometimes you just have to contain them.......as the old saying goes.

For all the talk about how the Bills don't get to Mahomes..........the Chiefs don't get to Allen either.    And yet, they were still able to force Allen to play small ball for 37 minutes in the most recent loss while Mahomes was getting like 9 yards per play or some crazy sh!t like that.    There is no excuse for getting rag-dolled like that by an opponent you have seen and prepared for so many times.   They are practically division rivals at this point.

Chris Jones has definitely made plays vs Allen, game changing plays. We just haven’t had anyone step up.

The consistent defensive struggles in the playoffs haven't been due to injuries each year.

Nor has it always been 3, 4, 5 key players that they were missing.

The common theme is the HC.   His defense's just haven't confused or slowed down opponents in the playoffs.

7 of their 10 Allen-era playoff games were marked by very poor defense.

Defense has been a combination of coaching, players, and injury. The players just don’t make plays when they are in position to make plays. Especially vs Mahomes.

They did have two pro bowl level TE's for a stretch. One Hall of Fame TE for most the run. When they did finally pursue a stud they produced the greatest offense of all time (somehow not winning the Super Bowl). I think in hindsight that could be viewed as a mistake. If Brady had a Moss like WR for most his career he would have at least a few more rings I would think.

Adding Moss for almost nothing to a Super Bowl roster wasn’t really fair. But they didn’t win a Super Bowl with Moss.

It’s never bad to have great WRs.

  13. lol I didn’t even see this thread. I made a comment about the 2015 Panthers today.

You can definitely some similarities in terms of roster building with both franchises.  I do feel that Beane and McDermott undervalue WR’s and it’s the one position that has been mismanaged.

They lost a number of established vets over the past three seasons and rather than re-loading, they simply doubled down on players they had on the roster (McKenzie, Davis etc) which backfired.

The most dominant franchise since 2000 also undervalued WR, NE Patriots.
