Happy Bday my new dark side (i.e. flyers admirer!) brotha! Have a steak and a beer!

That's one big reason why the ratings are so impressive....how many people can watch matches at 930am? I would love to see prime time FUTBAL, baby!!
-
LOL, there's a lot I could say to that
-
If you go, you HAVE to take pics...lots and lots of pics. Can you imagine how hot the women would be at a WC in Rio??? I don't think I'd be able to pay attention to the matches!
-
Are you serious?? That's bullshiit man lol....wtf, why even show up?
-
I can't remember his name, but I just read an article about another "phenom" that we have coming up through the ranks here in the US...I'll have to try and remember where I read it, but I know the kid will be on the U-20 team for their next WC. I haven't given up hope with Freddy, either....glad to see you mention him. Hopefully he gets more time abroad with a decent club and can really refine his game. Where is the WC in 2014 being held?

HBD, my friend!!!

Yep, our young players can get some experience abroad and then come play the MLS season. Was watching the Union v. Sounders game on tv an hour or so ago and this stadium is REALLY nice! I wish I stilll lived in Philly

This is the sort of thing that gets me more excited about watching the MLS. Not only do I finally have a team to follow - the Philadelphia Union - but this new little soccer-only stadium they built is awesome! Just a nice 18k seat outdoor stadium by the water...these things are popping up in MLS towns every year now, and it's pretty exciting, I think. http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/content...10/PPL-Park.jpg http://www.wfmz.com/2010/0224/22662242_300X225.jpg http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/

I know it, I can't believe how bad these refs are...FIFA should be thoroughly embarrassed....this is being witnessed by the WORLD. In a sport where one goal is often the difference in the match, they need to get their shiit together.
-
How can you be sure of that, though? I can only assume that the Germans would have still beat the hell out of England today because they've shown in at least two of their four matches that they are here to put some balls in the net. If England would have been a totally different team had that goal just not been disallowed, then shame on them. The US had that happen to them TWICE and found a way to get fired up and avoid the loss. If England had any balls, they would have done the same.
-
If England had actually done something this WC that resembled an ability to match up with one of the big names in the tourney, I'd agree. I just haven't seen it. A 2-2 match would have just resulted in the Germans putting up 5 instead of 4. But as I said earlier, I'm with you guys about the refs...this whole cup has been a disgrace.

When you go a good while w/out having any Franks, and then you taste it again, there is SO much delicious flavor that it's almost shocking.

Mexico getting schooled...another situation where the bad ref call isn't going to make any difference, although they really need to get refs who know how to call a game. What a goal by C. Teves!!!!!

I'm just happy to see you participating in the thread lol....I thought you were just here to keep your promise of hacking on the game every time we had a new thread about it, so the fact that you actually watched some of the matches is great! I agree about that non-goal....fuggin retarded that they didn't give it to them...today, though, it wouldn't have made any difference. Germany was all over them like Travis Henry on a pre-teen schoolgirl.

Oh definitely....Lalas looked like a dweeb, but played like an animal. Even as an announcer he still exudes that swagger and confidence in himself. Would love to have someone like him on the team again!

I totally agree about Bradley. I was reading a very interesting article about him last night. It discussed how his approach is to have the team play very laid back and conservatively for the first half in order to gauge the approach and strategy the other team is implementing. I absolutely HATE that. Winners dictate, they don't pussyfoot around for an entire half trying to figure out what the other team is doing, and then hope and pray they can come from behind. You can maybe do that against some of the CONCACAF teams that we beat up on, but you sure as hell can't do that in the WC! Speed is great, but I wish Bradley would maybe focus a bit more on a proper SKILL SET, too.

Well, that was a very satisfying win lol. The no-goal call that went against England was amazingly ridiculous, but didn't really matter. Like KD said, the counter attack with this team is just sick! With all these younger players I honestly didn't think we'd be this good, but I think it's ultimately going to be an issue with playing well consistently. Especially when you still have Klose playing well, holy crap, they are dominant on offense. If they can reign in their immaturity and not allow that to be a detriment, they might go another couple games and make some noise. I think that's probably what I didn't realize about Ghana, which is why I think Meazza and one or two others of you were not counting that as an upset at all. They have a lot of very good young players who already have club experience and are more seasoned than some of the veteran players on the US (in terms of playing against top competition). Kudos to them for yesterday's win. I remember our U-20 team being pretty darn good a few years ago, so I'm interested to see how we grow some of our own into top players.

Soccer talk infiltrating the main board! (WOOOHOOO!!!! )
-
lol, I know dammit....but the current English team is a far cry from the '06 Azzuri! I just can't see them winning...I don't care who their coach is!
-
We'll have to come up with some friendly wager terms in the next 15 hrs or so....lol No WAY is England gonna beat the Germans.
-
How bout that dumbass who called for the stretcher, sat up on the thing while they carried him off the pitch, and then STOOD UP as soon as he was on the sidelines As for the Germans, there are two main factors leading to their regression: They are immature and they no longer have Klinsmann at the helm. Klinsmann doesn't tolerate that crap, and I don't know enough about the current coach to say if he does or doesn't. But they are a very young team, I know that much.
