It's a violation of the rules to post a redundant thread. Plus the thread will move to the top with your new post.

A rookie named Jim Kelly started his first game in the NFL. How did that turn out??

Rookie? He played three years in the USFL before his first snap in the NFL.

I'm amazed at the cookie-cutter mentality when it comes to players. Talent need to be developed and managed to get the most out of it.

Thankfully I have faith in McDermott and Dabol doing what's best for Allen. Unlike previous Bills regimes, they will not be pressured by fans or media.

i hadn't thought about that lately...since drafting teller. i guess i wouldn't be surprised if richie showed up around july, but i'm ready to move on. this was likely his last year here anyway. we were gonna face this turnover starting next year, but i think it will work out better going through it this year.

I think they would rather trade Richie than bring back a head case. But I guess it depends how the new kids are doing.

I don't have it now, but I'm buying a new car that has the equipment included.

So basically, it's $21 per month and it gets automatically charged to your credit card?

You really get used to it once you have it. The question is is it worth paying for? I find a phone app like TuneIn Pro has a lot of similar channels if you dig for them. But if you don't mind paying for Sirius XM it's nice.

With 6 home games before November vs. 2 for the Bills, it may make some sense for a concerted effort for local Bills' fans to establish more of an enthusiastic presence and get their gameday fix.  The Bulls will be good this year and likely be chosen for a bowl game, maybe against a power 5 team.  The crappy schedule that the NFL gave the Bills could work out for the Bulls benefit.

UB puts on a great tailgate with name bands and stuff. Free parking too. Here's this year's lineup.

Larry Felser could dice and skewer players and organizations without descending into the snark that the current [BN]competent sports columnists seem to rely upon.

Good point. When Felser went negative, it was with reason. People paid attention because it was unusual. With today's BN sports staff, negative is it's normal state.

If you confront one of them now, they'll tell you the teams suck so they deserve it. But it's the freaking offseason. What exactly are the Bills and Sabres doing now that deserves negativity?

Why not start? When rookie (or even QBs who have not played in NFL in later years) QBs:

    • Have games where they throw the ball and shouldn't causing interceptions the criticism from coaches can become self-defeating - the QBs not take chances they should.  Throwing interceptions happen and the especially happen when you are behind in game but if thrown on 3rd down on opponents side of field when trying to get back into game they are not that bad
    • Have games where they have not adjusted to NFL speed yet and get hit they start seeing shadows causing them to get rid of ball early or doing dump downs when they should still be trying to making plays to extend down.
    • When dealing with teams still being formulated due to new coaches or players a QB can learn to not trust his line or decisions.

Because throwing in a player who isn't ready is a recipe for disaster. Then again, maybe that's what some folks want.

PTR -- I heard he tweeted something to the effect that the rest of the NHL was laughing at Kim's appointment as President of the Bills and Sabres and then quickly deleted that.  Is that correct?

That is correct. Also a  few years back Bucky Gleason tweeted that Kim should stick with picking drapes instead of attending team business meetings.

  8. Don't confuse sports columnists with serious reporting.

I know fans don't like to hear it, but the News is very highly respected nationally for it's sports coverage. Fans tend not to like them because they say bad teams are bad and fans tend not to like that.

I don't know Harrington well as I'm not much of a hockey fan but in the AP Sports Editors Awards, this  year he won as one of the top ten beat writers in sports writing. And Skurski was in the same top ten.

I think the dog tweet is pretty funny, personally, and that Harrington's response was pretty weak. But I like their coverage a lot, personally.

I haven’t seen any shops yet unfortunately.

Like in Massachusetts, the anti-pot forces (including Gov. LePage) keep using delaying tactics to show down progress opening retail outlets. But at least possession is fully legal.

Massachusetts expects the first legal pot shops to open July 1.

Too bad UB stadium is horrible for watching football.

It's fine in warm weather. But it's downright brutal during November night games. No shelter from biting winds.

They are building a new indoor practice facility on campus. I've suggested they play those Tuesday/Wednesday night ESPN MACtion games in there. Sure, you could only fit a few hundred fans, but that's how many fans show up anyway because it's so cold.

I'd argue that the Buffalo News no longer employs journalists, just the same run of the mill talking heads generating opinion that have replaced all the television news.

Fun question:  When is the last time you read an article from either of these two gentleman that was - from start to finish - news without opinion folded into it?

Again, it gets to my point about pay walls.  You're not paying for news.  You're paying for opinion. Two different products.

Their argument is Bucky and Sullivan are columnists, not reporters. That may be but when your opinion is garbage...

    That's amazing!

    12.  Anthony Johnson, WR
    62.  Khalil Hodge, LB
    82.  Tyree Jackson, QB

I've been saying this for months. UB's getting good. Their 2018 schedule is not a killer either. Anything less than a bowl bid will be a major disappointment.

The US Sumo Open is coming up this week in Long Beach CA. I saw it once in TV and was surprised to learn a) there are Sumo wrestlers from around the world, and b) they are not all 900 pounds. In fact there are weight classes like in boxing and wrestling.

But the skills are the same no matter what size the wrestler: balance, speed, strength. All the things that make a good offensive lineman. The Bills scouts ought to be on Long Beach for this.
