  1. They give the same excuse LA fans do - so many other things to do.

I lived in South Flori!a for 12 years and it is not so much that there are so many other things to do but everyone is from somewhere else in the country. I knew more Jets fans than Dolphin fans when I lived there.

I thought urbik played well and maybe even well enough to earn a starting nod over miller. Miller has struggled and may not be ready yet. Maybe it would benefit hit to take a breather and learn the mental part of the game for a bit

I think Mikler has a lot more upside so maybe itbwould be beneficial to keep him in to learn on the job. If he starts to become a game losing liability then take his butt out! JMHO

  2. He's a great dt but he's too expensive and he isn't needed. He would be a luxury but the Bills defense would still be dominating without him.

Kyle Williams has a couple great years left! Where are we when a year from now Kyle is on the slow downside and no Darius? A young multiple year probowler and now all pro, that's who you think we should let slide? If you're a Sabre fan you probably thought it was a good idea to get rid of Briere and Drury.

We need to and can pay the man! Cap is going up more than $10m and Mario can restructure. The only thing I can see putting a monkey wrench in this is somehow we pull in a franchise QB on a trade. However I think that is mute because I think we get a deal done with him before week one! Maybe that was why he was out? A deal being done right now? (I'm hoping for that!)

  3. The Bills wanted to see how the defense would look without him. They want to find out if they can get rid of him after this season or if it would hurt the defense too much. If they can play almost as well without him they might as well trade him before they lose him in free agency. He's going to want Suh money and the Bills can't afford that.

I disagree with almost everything you're saying here! Do you seriously think the Bills were holding him out on a pre-season game to see if they could play well without him? Plus you're suggesting that they may trade him based on this game? Ludicrous! Shenanigans(ok it's not shenanigans but I haven't had a chance to use that lately!)

He does want Suh money and he should have close to Suh money. I'm not saying that is what I think DTs should be paid but blame Miami for that screw up! He is our Bruce Smith of defense past! The anchor who should be paid!

  4. QB's get hurt more often now. I say keep all 3 and put Simms on the PS if possible.

Also, Darby looks like a wasted pick to me. Too dang small vs big WRs!

I completely disagree about Darby! He hasn't played his 1st NFL game yet but he knows he is being projected the #2 CB. Big jump from college and it is something hard to get adjusted to. He has shown the ability but he will have growing pains! So did/does Gilmore! He did have 2 big PI calls but both questionable. The 2nd was definitely a bit bs. The 1st he didn't play the ball or turn his head so hard to argue, rookie learning the trade.

    100% tipped. Trajectory noticeably changed

Probably but isn't it a QBs responsibility to make sure it is not tipped? Wasn't that one of Flutie's biggest problems?

That said I'm rooting for Tyrod or EJ!

EJ under Marrone looked the best when he first got here. In his first pre-season he had moments that were pretty nice. But in his second year where we expected improvement, EJ looked scared and robotic.

It also happened with Orton. He looked best when he didn't know the plays. As the year went on, the hackett/marrone combo made into the QB we saw in the Dolphins and Raiders game.

I'm really hoping that this was the case. Looking back at last year I cannot help but think Marrone and company were no different than the Jauron debacle! Play not to lose and good god don't let the QB screw this close game on us! (I'm thinking halftime and end of game philosophy here folks!)

  5. He's actually said different things at different times. You can't really take Rex for his word because he will contradict himself. Not in a sinister way, but he just talks and he's very confident.

Good point! Rex has tried to ride the fence everytime he has been questioned about the QBs! He goes out of the way to say nothing is determined one way or another. This allows him to back step into whatever situation comes about. This includes EJ especially! Witness the last week.

  6. Roman has eyes of his own, he will start the best guy, not who WGR says.

A lot of people been saying EJ has little chance to start. They said he wouldn't start the 3rd preseason game. Then they said, after two scoring drives his night was over, then he got back in and scored some more. Roman will make his own decision, the right decision, not who WGR wants, not who the fans want. Who he wants.

A huge part of me wants this to be true because it means Rex the defensive guru will not make this choice and his OC can make his. Makes sense to me because Roman will be the man responsible and held accountable for our offensive production.

However...this still does all fall on Rex's shoulders in the end so it has to be his call.

That being said if Roman wants Cassell to start I could not blame Rex from stepping in!

I will admit that perhaps Roman has more practical life experiences to relect upon than I do...but he hasn't been here the last 15 years without a playoff berth and hasn't had to deal with the check down run of QBs we've had! Outside of Fitz we have had check down clowns some of whom were better than Cassell...enough said!

I would think great game performances are a reflection of practice; time in film room; etc. Preseason or not. But by all means, lets take our NFL QBing evaluations from Mike Rodak and Joe Buscaglia. Every day these guys are watching the QBS go against our D. I'd like to see how Russell Wilson looks against the Hawks D in practice..

Good point but realistically the only people we can generally get evaluations from are the media at least on a consistent basis. I have noticed some back peddling from some media about EJ (Sal) versus diggjng their heels in (Jeremy White). Tyrod and EJ have really stepped up and have shown they can possibly be something special! Matt on the other hand has shown me why he is floating around the league as a journeyman!

This is why coaches have no respect for the opinions of the fans. You have it upside down. (except for Simms who shouldn't even be mentioned since he will be cut)

You must either know Cassell or not watch football (american football). The only coherent argument that can be made for Cassell to start is if both Tyrod and EJ get hurt and we decided to "tank" the season to get that 1st draft pick!

The Bills Nation will have a meltdown of epic proportions if Cassell is the starter week 1!

  7. no, he didn't. Rex said the opposite. Games were more important.

Incorrect! He's had sound bites played for the last 3 days saying pre-season games are way overrated by fans and media particularly the 3rd game. He said all of the practices they see every day are as important to their evaluation as the games are.

It's the ego of Rex. He thinks his defense is the best so whoever does the best against his D must be the best QB

Well if you're honest going against one of the acknowledged best defenses in the league should hold a lot of weight about how well a QB can do in this league!

  8. I used to wait tables at a nice restaurant in Hamburg and I've met a lot of the Bills players and front office people.

One time I was waiting on Bruce Smith and his wife. He had just finished his suspension for testing positive for coke. Bill Polian was at another table with multiple guests. Polian told his waiter that he would like to pay for Bruce's dinner which was just over $120. I explained to Bruce that Polian paid for his dinner bill of the $120. He was there for a couple more minutes and then left. He left me $2.00 cash for my tip. That rankled me a bit!

The player everyone also looked forward to waiting on was Dan Marino! Every time he came into town a local businessman would take him to our restaurant. It was always a big table and the bill was always pretty big and so was the tip that the businessman would leave. Everytime when they were done and Marino was leaving he would always find the waiter on the way out and would always hook that person with his own tip of $50 and thank them for taking care of him!

  9. I think it has been a great defensive game. Players for the most part are putting out a strong effort. I also like seeing some of the same team match-ups on both sides of the ball putting it to each other.

I've seen more exciting but this is the hardest effort I've seen from the players in years!

I also love the effort I'm seeing from our players!

  10. I wish I could find the interview online but my favorite Mcgahee moment was an interview on NFLN with him Edge James and Clinton Portis. Rich Eisen was talking to them during pro bowl week back when Mcgahee was playing for the Bills. They were all high as !@#$.

I remember that interview, they were stoned out of their minds, it was SO obvious. I think they even made a couple of subtle references to it. It was funny as hell and I remeber thinking they're going to get a call from the commisioners office or surprise knock on the door by someone with a test kit.

  11. Did post before reading the trade part?

FLYNN will cost $0 dollars if you franchise and trade.

You're making some gigantic and potentially dangerous assumptions here. First off a franchise tag for a QB is probably in the $19-20+ million range. If someone wants to trade for him they will have to convince him to take FAR less overall in a new contract negotiation. He could easily insist on no new contract and just get paid big time on a 1 year deal then negotiate a new contract for 2013.

That fact alone should and would give most GMs pause before they make a trade. If noone offers up a trade then you're stuck with a VERY high priced back-up. As previous posters pointed out they have a lot of players they need to re-sign already, taking a $20 million cap hit on that franchise tag will definately hold them back from other important deals they would want to get done.

Way too much risk to even consider using the franchise tag, they should make an appropriate back-up QB offer to him and if he balks wish him luck.

  12. Last I've heard it's a QB driven league. Dalton last I checked took a team to the playoffs, yes with Green's BIG help along with a decent defense which nobody talks about. I am not bashing Aaron, but I do think Dalton is a good pick which obviously differs from other opinions.

Maybe I should have titled it "Would you have picked Dalton over Williams"?

Why do everybody here bash and show so much negativity and so much seriousness? Relax, sorry for posting, geez.

The Bengals defense is what got them into the playoffs along with an average offense. Dalton had very pedestrian stats. Switch the defenses between Bills and Bengals and it would have been the Bills who were in the playoffs and the Bengals would be sitting at 6-10.

I didn't want the Bills to draft a QB last year and even in hindsight I'm glad they didn't. BTW I think Williams has shown he has some great upside and could prove to be an upper echelon CB.

  13. Definite contender and I've said it here before. If they can set the record for most passing yards against and still have the record they do, it tells you that they have one of the best offenses in the league with one of the best QBs, hands down. I think everyone here wishes they weren't contenders but deep down knows they are. Honestly, I don't see a team in the AFC that's can beat this offense, including Baltimore and Pittsburgh. With Brady and his weapons, they're a matchup nightmare. They've shown they can give up 30 and score 35.

I think they represent then AFC in the Super Bowl.

They've also shown they can give up 34 and score 31!

    Here's to repeat perfomances!
