The situation surrounding Lynch was different. I know it sucks to see him crushing it in Seattle, but it was what it was. Let's not downplay Boobie. He led the team in YPC. The run game was all kinds of bad last year for several reasons.

I think the value of the Brown trade was very fair, as No Saint reiterated. Though I do think the drafting of Karlos indicated that the staff does not feel confident in Brown's development.

Sure would have been nice to have SJ13 out there with Watkins and Woods, but I think the savings from trading him and eventually getting Percy make up for it. And I, for one, thought Mike Williams was going to be more significant to our passing game at the time we made the trade.

At the time I liked the B Brown and M Williams trades, I couldn't understand why Saint Doug couldn't seem to do anything with either of the guys Whaley traded for, and still think it might have been Marrone sticking it to Whaley by not using them. I don't understand not even trying to get Williams involved in the red zone when they were playing so pathetically there and Williams had a track record of being pretty damn good at going up and getting contested balls in the red zone. I think it's possible Marrone's ego played a role in some of his decision making.

  2. you guys that are sleeping on Tyrod are gonna be the eating your words when you actually see him play......he is an explosive playmaker with his feet and his arm strength is better then average and if he has been progressing in Baltimore on his decision making and accuracy then we might actually have a QB here......mark my words....he is the 1st QB that Buffalo has had here in a long long time that gets me even a little bit excited......anyone that wants to watch EJ give subpar QB play with no chance at all of making something happen with his feet another 6-8 games of frustratingly hair and teeth pulling performances just doesnt get it and I am not saying Tyrod will be the next world beater but for heavens sake I am willing to see him give it a try.......Buffalo reached horribly on Manuel and no I dont want another veteran like Cassel that can get us to 8-8 and if he fails then Rex and company can go all in next year on someone else. This fanbase deserves a winner and I feel like we are so close.....lets all pray that Tyrod wins this QB job from week 1 and plays well and we break this playoff streak........I am so ready to break out all my Bills memorabilia and scream till I lose my voice.

It's not impossible from what Rex has been saying about Taylor there is every reason to believe he is going to be given every chance to be the starter. They say he has a nice deep ball, how nice would it be to see long balls in the vicinity of our recievers. Roman's offense in San Fran went to a SB with Kaepernick and Taylor possibly could play to the level of him, and our defense could easily play to the level of those 49er teams. Rex took his first two Jets teams to the championship game with less talent then he has here. The offensive line is as much of a question mark as QB play is at this point, but I'm optimistic there is good reason to believe recent OL play was due to poor coaching the center and L tackle play both declined under Marone"s tuteledge, the OL just might turn into a strength on this team with better coaching. I'm also the most excited to see what Taylor can do, there's a lot of jokes on this thread about Taylor taking the Bills to a SB, but I for one wouldn't be entirely surprised if he did.

  3. So if the Pegula's took the Bills over without all of the good/great players the Nix and Whaley regimes have brought in, you think the Bills would still have a chance at being as good as we think they will?

We've seen the Bills begin to turn the corner a few different times over the course of the 15 year drought, the Pegula's have legitimized this franchise far beyond anything prior. If Ralph was still alive I seriously doubt Jerry Hughes stays in Buffalo, we would also be watching Marcel Dareus playing his final season here, and Ralph was notorious for allowing good offensive lineman to walk away so we would probably be saying goodbye to Cordy Glenn also. Once again we would have witnessed the Bills begin to turn the corner. Right now does anybody doubt the Pegula's are going to do everything they can to keep those players, because I think you can pretty safely say Ralph wouldn't have.

  4.

That is absolutely true. And that stuff was far better hidden in the 1980s/1990s than it is now. I love Kelly, but I always go back to that mysterious "injury" that occurred after his disastrous performance in Pitt in a Monday night game in 1996. He sat out three games after that and no one ever really found out the reason beyond the team's perfunctory "he has a hamstring issue" explanation -- even though he seemed fine. Lots of rumors were flying, and they weren't good. Who knows what really happened.

In the section where I had my season tix in 96 there were a few people that claimed to know what had happened, I won't repeat it because I don't know it to be a fact. The story involved Jim in a physical altercation and there was some question as to whether he had been hurt in the altercation or he had been suspended in house. If anybody knows what really happened please share I've always wondered.

  5. I posted it last year and on draft day I'll post it again, I would do what ever it takes to aquire an additional #1 pick in next years draft. With our current roster were not going to be in a position to get a franchise QB in the draft without trading up with an additional #1 you would enhance your ability to trade up if the opportunity presented itself. If it doesn't I would use the extra #1 to secure an additional #1 the following year and you could probably get some extra later round picks in that trade, and I would continue that process until I had my QB. If a team decided to shop a veteran franchise QB and you had 2 #1 picks it would certainly enhance your ability outbid other teams, that's how I would manage the search for a franchise QB.

  6. If your trying to read into what Rex has said so far he has liked Taylor for a long time, he says he throws a really good deep ball with Harvin and Watkins a good deep ball would be nice, from what I've read Cassel wasn't very effective Passing the ball 20 + yards last year and I'm not certain EJ is ever going to become more accurate, but it was widely reported Whaley was forcing EJ on coaching prospects during the interview process, not certain who will start the season, but I'm pretty certain we'll see Taylor start some games at some point in 2016.

  7. Thurman had one of the best O-lines in team history. OJ was the best...Just watch his hi-lites. Thurman a close 2nd. Also for years Bills had no passing game. Teams knew OJ was getting the ball and still couldn't stop him

I'm pretty sure that first OJ run on this video was from the first Bills game I ever attended, 1, OJ without a doubt he's the reason I became a Bills fan and started watching football.... If Ray Lewis can be a Super Bowl mvp OJ can still be the be the best back in Bills history.

  8. Jerry wants to get paid. People will automatically blame the Bills. But the Bills just simply cannot afford to sign him to what he wants.

IMO, Jerry is going to go down as one of those bad FA signings that does not live up to the contract if he gets the 10+MM a year. He will no longer had Mario and Dareus to take pressure off of him.

    Good luck to him though.

I agree he'll never put up big sack numbers when he becomes the primary pass rusher on a team, he starts facing a little extra protection and he'll disappear play one year of a new deal and get cut.

  9.

Yeah right. He's a threat to score with his legs from anywhere on the field. EJ is a threat to run out of bounds (if he can get there).

I hate Kaepernick because I think he's a D-bag, but I would warm up to him real fast. Real fast.

The guy is a d-bag I heard a nasty story of how he treated a little girl that was wearing a Kap jersey, he refused to take a picture with the girl while waiting outside a restaurant. The girls mother tried to take a picture of her with Kap in the back ground and he yelled at her mother I said no f---ing pictures. This was during super bowl week the year he played in it, nice way to act in front of a little girl. I heard about it from a close friend very reliable source. I've thought very little of Kap since, not the kind of guy Buffalo would warm up to if he conducted himself like that around western NY.

  10. Fred didn't look that bad last year considering the lousy O-line play, he's still one of the best pass blocking rb's in the league, and that was Fred that stiff armed Chris Conte out of his shoes to put the Bears away in the season opener. What has Powell done gained 335 yards a year over the last 4 years with a 3.9 ypc career average. Let him go and watch Belichek grab him up.

  11. My apologies C

From your recent posts I thought u genuinely didnt like Bradford.

We cant give up a high pick.....we dont have one.

I couldnt see us giving up our 1st rounder the following season if that is what you are suggesting

Bradford is the only thing close to a top QB that the Bills have a chance to land in the immediate and some what forcastable future he is young and has had some injuries so was Drew Brees, how many teams wish they had made a serious run at him when he became available. I don't care what it costs make the move, I don't want to be on here in a year or two reading about how we should have could have gotten him while he leads his team into the playoffs and were still in the hunt for a QB. His last 7 starts 14 tds 4 int it's a risk but he has a tremendous upside. Make the move over pay if we can give up two firsts and a fourth for Watkins, we can certainly do what ever is needed to secure Sam Bradford, Come on Doug if it can be done do it.

  12. The original six hockey teams haven't change their logos in years. Modified and updated, but stayed with the concept. Look what happned with the Sabres. They tried going modern with the goat-head, people didn't care for it. They tried again with the slug, and people hated it. Now they went back to the original and it's loved. Same with the Bills uniforms.

I hated the Sabres new uniforms couldn't believe they went away from the Blue and Gold. Couldn't stand the crappy uniforms that came with Gregg Williams, also never liked the red helmets. I hope they never try changing them again.

  13.

    The Jags have fans?

I went and seen the Bills play in Jacksonville, it was like a home game for the Bills, I'm not just saying there were a lot of Bills fans the place was packed with Bills fans. The guy I was sitting by was a season ticket holder, he looked at me and said "I've never seen it like this it's like a home game for you guys". If they didn't have huge blocks of seats covered with tarps there probably would have been even more Bills fans.

St Doug couldn't work with the Pegulas, so I guess working with an owner that was over twenty million under the cap is a much better situation, really Doug I mean it good luck with that.

  14. This topic interests me as the NFLs stated goal has been to have parity in the league, and lots of teams are still in the playoff hunt in December, but it usually boils down to the same handfull of QBs at the conference championships. I believe the answer would be to start a minor league system that played a pro set offense. At the college level there are few teams that use an offensive system that's comparable to the NFL. NFL teams are forced to take QBs and try to quickly develop them into an NFL style QB. At the college level the best programs often are sitting on 3 or 4 of the top prospects in the country while playing only one, perfect axample Ohio State this year they won the championship with their 3rd string QB big question this week was he going to come out in the draft after playing 3 games. With a baseball like minor league system every team could have several QBs developing at any given time, high school players would have a choice get an education or get a paycheck for playing football. Imagine how watered down pitching would be in the majors if baseball relied on college alone to develop players. With a minor league system there would eventually be more than enough NFL ready QBs to go around. It would also solve the problem with Colleges taking advantage of economically disadvantaged youth kids would have a choice top prospects could sign a contract and immediately help their families while pursuing an NFL career.

  15. he probably won't play out his rook contract with the Bills. No Problem there. How is his stock shares trending? I am guessing it at a low right now.

Not sure where his stock is trading but EJ did trade away 10% of his future earnings NFL salary and endorsements for 4.98 million 1 year into his career, when you consider the top 15 QBs based on just their NFL salary made between 14.660,000 and 22,000,000 you could legitimately make the case that EJ has wagered against himself being a successful QB in the NFL, he is 24 now if he turned into a top ten QB ten years from now QBs could easily be making in the 30 and 40 million dollar a year range with endorsements possibly 50 million a year, if you were confident you were going to be a great QB you would be stupid to trade away 10% of your earnings for 4.98 million dollars, he bet against himself

  16.

John Fox was a .500 coach until he hooked up with Manning.

Rex was a .500 coach was Sanchez, Geno and Vick - and a terrible FO.

I'm not saying Fox is a bad coach. I just don't think the record is clear that he's a better coach.

Rex was coaching a major market team that was third in the league in unspent salary cap dollars behind the Jaguars and Browns they have NY dollars and are spending with the Jags and Browns, come on Vince Lombardi would have a hard time winning in that circumstance.

  17. As I say about Jerry Sullivan, same applies here. Stop making threads about him. Stop clicking on his articles.

It was a valid question and Rex answered it well, the national media treated the Bills job like the ugly step sister in the room based on Ralph Wilson consistantly shopping for coaches in the bargain bin. It's a new era in Buffalo we have an owner with deep pockets that doesn't view the team as a cash cow that you suck money out of with a marginal product, no more off seasons where we pick up an old Terrel Owens on his last leg to try excite the fan base. Lets face it under Ralph Wilsons stewardship Sully consistantly called them out because he ran it with no vision of actually trying to put a winner on the field, it was his job to cover the s#%$ sandwich Ralph has been serving up for the last 15 years. He's not a Buffalo guy he doesn't view the team with rose colored glasses, but he seems pretty damn excited about the Ryan hire, his next article out after the Ryan hire we need a QB, well we need a QB, look what Sully is writing he for the first time in a long time is starting to drink the Kool Aid, he sees just like we do there is change in the air.
