Of the non-starters listed, he's actually playing the best, and also has inside/outside flex. Wouldnt surprise me at all to have Q/Mancz/Hart backing up, esp if Doyle goes on reserve.

Process guy? Get better every day? The Kromer factor? I don't have film on it, but even in preseason I don't recall him looking remotely serviceable in his prior stints. What he does have is enough physical attributes to execute what Kromer is asking him to do, and it's apparently working.

I recommend watching the Broncos tape. It doesn't lie. #68 was one of the Bills better OL, playing LT and LG and tackle-eligible in jumbos. I don't quite believe it myself, but his best reps were at LT.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 2

I'm gonna say it: Bobby Hart was excellent. -
Preseason week 3: Bills at Panthers 8/26 7pm (local or NFL+)

They're hiding him, just like James Cook. That means he's gonna be a problem. -
Didn't really focus on him, but he didn't stand out for any bad reps. There were a few combos he had with Hart, and seemed Blackshear's bigger runs went over the left side with him and Hart on drives 5 and 6.

Doing this because I can't believe what I'm seeing. Hart Attack chart for Preseason Game 2 vs Denver: Drive 2, Hart at LT 1st & 10 - Run, drives end wide out of play. 2nd & 4 - Pass, gets push back 2 steps on a bull rush, but hold the block. 3rd & 4 - Pass, gets bull rushed, Edge get off him just a beat late to get to the QB. 1st & 10 - (lined up at RTE) - crashes left, pulling guard Ford and Moss follow the gap for the TD Drive 3, Hart at LT 1st & 10 - Run, off tackle right, gets to the Mike and turns him away from the play. 2nd & 6 - Run, off tackle strong left, gets to the Sam and turns him away from the play. 1st & 10 - Pass, crashes the tackle for a naked screen back 2nd & 6 - Run, combos the tackle then comes off and takes out the Mike at the 2nd level. 1st & 10 - Pass, stones the edge at the line. 1st & 10 - Run, pancake combos the tackle and then takes out the Mike AGAIN. 1st & 10 - Quick pass, gets just enough push to delay the edge getting around clean. 2nd & 1 - (lined up at LTE) - Run, get to and eliminates the Mike who must be sick of seeing #68 by now. [Penalty] 1st & Goal - (lined up at RTE) - see drive 2, same play to Moss for TD, Hart seals inside and Ford leads. Drive 4, Hart at LT 1st & 10 - Run, middle, Hart gets to the Sam and seals him outside 2nd & 1 - Pass, cut block executed but play is a botch [Penalty] 2nd & 6 - Pass, drives edge rusher wide 1st & 10 - Pass, edge tries an inside swim, passes him to guard who eat his lunch 2nd & 3 - Pass, drives edge rusher wide 1st & 10 - Pass, stones edge at line 2nd & 1 - Pass, nice slide step and stones the edge trying to go wide 1st & 10 - Pass, stops edge power move and stays with him on the wide continuation 2nd & 5 - Pass, stops edge inside swim and executes pass off to pick up stunting tackle 3rd & 5 - [False start penalty on Judy] 3rd & 10 - Pass, stones a wide rush from the edge [Penalty on Ford] 3rd & 20 - Pass, stops a bull rush from edge [Denver offside] 3rd & 15 - Pass, points at the offside edge guy who is too embarrassed to continue rushing 1st & 10 - Pass, edge zone drops so he combos the tackle [TOUCHDOWN] Drive 5, Hart at LG (Anderson at LT) 1st & 10 - Run, earns a draw on the block 2nd & 1 - Run, not a ton of push but just fine 1st & 10 - Pass, he might have been a step too far downfield looking to block 2nd level 1st & 10 - Run, gets to the 2nd level and pushes the Sam 10 yards off the LOS 2nd & 1 - Run, gets a draw against the 3-tech but the rest of the line wins big anyway 1st & 10 - Run, gets pushed back a step by the 1-tech 2nd & 3 - Run, turns the 3-tech away from the play to open the hole 1st & 10 - Run, gets a good push on the 1 and opens the hole 2nd & 7 - Run, seals the 3-tech and the 3rd consecutive play run right behind 68 1st & 10 - Run, cameraman forgets there's a ball game. Hart doesn't have anyone to block anyway. [TOUCHDOWN] Drive 6, Hart at LG 1st & 10 - Pass, Gets beat on a rip move by the 3-tech, who pressures the QB for an inc 2nd & 10 - Pass, Wins the hand fight against the tackle this time 1st & 10 - Run, Combos the tackle with the center as the run bounces outside 1st & 10 - Pass, stones the tackle on a solo block 2nd & 4 - Pass, doesn't give an inch to the 3 1st & 10 - Run, crashes right to push the 1 out of the hole 2nd & 5 - Pass, triple team on the 1, hahaha 1st & Goal - Hart and the left side just road grade a path for Duke [TOUCHDOWN] Final tally on Hart's reps: WINS: Lots DRAWS: A couple LOSSES: One (first snap of drive 6, caused an incompletion) While this was with the caveat that Hart was up against 2s and 3s, he did what you want your backup to do, and that's beat those guys convincingly.

Still haven't seen Hart lose a rep cleanly on drives 3 and 4. Bonitto almost turned on him a couple times but Hart was able to push him wide enough. The Keenum throw-away later on drive 4, Hart and Ford flawlessly pass off a stunt. Granted it's not against the top top players that have made Hart look like a turnstile in the past but man, he's executing. With the Ford trade and Mancz situation, I understand people are worried about OL... but I don't think I would hate it if this edition of Bobby Hart makes the 53.

So since the replay is on NFLN and we're on the 3rd drive I'm keeping an eye on Hart at LT and Ford at LG. Ford is a bit inconsistent and I'm wondering if it's conditioning, because he's just ponderous. His punch is good and he holds ground but just not mobile at all. Hart on this drive looks... dare I say dominating? That 11 yarder from Moss, Ford and Hart combo for a flapjack on the tackle, but Hart gets right to the second level to plow a linebacker. He's consistently getting to the second level and executing on runs, getting great leverage and turning his man away from the play. On passes nobody's getting a sniff. The hell am I watching? Might as well stick around for the next couple drives... can check in on Anderson too. Edit: Tenuta comes in at LT and Hart to RG at the end of the drive, and Judy gets caved in while Hart is still driving guys off the line.

Getting a 5th for Ford isn't the worst thing. Outright releasing Ford isn't the worst thing. Continuing to feed snaps to Ford based on his draft status rather than his production is the worst thing. A lot of front offices would calculate things that way; thank goodness the Bills don't have one of those.

Because Dan Darragh made a reference on the Cody Ford thread, we'll stick the YT here. These guys were essentially The Monkees, in that they wrote most of the songs and came up with that infectious pop bubble-gum sound. They never really scored on their own outside a couple cool hits, because image matters more than it should for being rock stars. On the other hand, publishing matters more than it should for cashing big checks...

Awesome pull. I wonder what Beane's doing tonight?

Haack arguably cost us one game last year, and damn near another. His potential to contribute to a win - or break even on WOR for that matter - was nil. Araiza may have a marginally greater chance to hurt as a rookie, but a far greater chance to help now and going forward. Obviously.
-
The truth is, PG won the job before the preseason started, with the one caveat being "if he can hold." When he held in the first two games for a 100% success rate, that just made it official.
-
Anderson makes it this round for sure. 1) Ja’Marcus Ingram, CB 2) Jacob Capra, OL 3) Daniel Joseph, DE 4) Tanner Gentry, WR
-
Davis Webb engineers a TD drive, completes a short pass to Bachman who Turners the corner and goes into Overdrive for the score. LOL and then Webb with the Josh Allen special 2-point conversion, roll out, gonna throw it gonna throw it gonna throw it oh there's the pylon PSYCH.

If you had the Ravens scouting staff and front office, I could see where it makes a lot of sense. They kill it every draft, somehow the perfect guy ends up falling unexpectedly to them over and over and over.
-
Isaiah Likely making it probable that Bills fans regret the team paying a 4th rounder to move up 2 slots in the 1st round when this guy was on the board :/ Wonder what the Ravens are going to do with Charlie Kolar, could they carry 5 TE's?
-
And in their present, their most effective offense has been Antonio Williams and David Sills V. Thibodeaux just got his knee taken out on a low block too. The G-men are likely to get the QB they want next draft.
-
I'd challenge that 4th down inc if I was Cinci. Knee was down inbounds, and one knee = 2 feet as any school child can tell you.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 2
Ralonzo replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
There was one play that Shakir was left slot and made a quick 8 yard, turn and present, QB put the ball on him and he turned and got everything he could and it all happened so quick and smooth you'd swear it was 2019, peak-of-his-powers Beasley wearing that #10. It was everything you want from that pattern from the slot. He'll get some run there. But he's also been beating the hell out of coverage on the boundary too. -

Big slot. Can't say whether the Bills need that or not, but it's becoming a thing in the NFL lately. -
I forget the exact offer I got from the Athletic, maybe $10 for the year, but being a voracious content junkie and the Bills and Sabres both poised to be interesting for the first time in a long time, it was worth it to me.
