  1. I would add to this...

After the Bills D got smoked on either game ending or game securing drives for 3 of their 5 games, how may of us fans were confident that the D would have held up against the Dolhins if the offense had not sealed the deal and kept the ball away from the dolphins?

Speaking for myself, had the dolphins gotten the ball back with under 3 minutes left and the wind at their backs... I would have been stevestojaning my drawers.

Bottom line.... as you indicate, this defense is not as good as everyone thinks and I think part of their problem is the defensive line, but a bigger problem is the secondary... I view them as average at best... with Milloy and Vincent slightly better... they just have no one with consistent big play ability on either the Dline or secondary.

  2. Bills | Losman to Work Goal Line Situations? - from www.KFFL.com

    Mon, 18 Oct 2004 19:50:59 -0700

BuffaloBills.com reports Buffalo Bills QB J.P. Losman (leg) could be used as a substitute for QB Drew Bledsoe during goal line situations, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. "It's been discussed," Mularkey said. "Obviously, we can't do anything further until we get to the point where he's healthy, but it's been discussed." Losman is expected to miss at least another two-to-three weeks with a leg injury.

Bills | Wilson Signed to Practice Squad - from www.KFFL.com

BuffaloBills.com reports the Buffalo Bills have signed WR George Wilson (Lions) to their practice squad.

Interesting, because back around 1980 when Wyche was QB coach in SF, Steve Deberg was the starting QB. But, through the first 3/4 of the season when the 49ers got in the red zone they would pull Deburg out and put in some rookie named Montana. This Montana kid ended up starting the last 4 games or so and almost dashed the Bills hopes of an AFC East regular season title. Bledsoe's days are numbered... we all know that, but the one thing we've never seen in Buffalo is a "platoon" type concept with a QB... by that I mean bringing in a different QB depending on the situation rather than a QB stinking out the house or getting injured.

  3. CBS showed TH on the bench pouting TWICE during the 4th Quarter.

Do the minds at the former Tiffany Network know something we don't?  :o

CBS showed TH on the bench pouting TWICE during the 4th Quarter.

It's stevestojan like this statement that clouds the issue. Yeah... CBS showed TH sitting on the bench all bundled up.... period!!!! no pouting, no drama... that's the stevestojan that you put in your own head and are now telling everyone it's reality. The WM/TH saga will work itself out... fair and square.

  4. We are a 1-4 team who could just as easily been 4-1. The Bills are not that bad a team. What we saw yesterday was team team that FINISHED in the 4th quarter thanks to Willis and the line. What we saw in at least 2 of the 4 losses was Henry falling on his ass when the chips were down. Go crap on somebody elses day. We are just fine thanks.

We are a 1-4 team who could just as easily been 4-1.

Now there are some words of pure wisdom. Could we maybe even say we are a 1-4 team that could just as easily be 0-5???

Please... the Bills are a 1-4 team. Leave it there... because, last I checked, that's what their record is. And every time someone mentions to me anything about a 1-4 team, the first thing that comes to mind is... "geezuz, they must suck".

  5. With the way the Oline looked yesterday? YES

    74531[/snapback]

Let me see if I've got this right... the O line played terrific yesterday and the offense put up 13 points (with the wind at their backs nonetheless) against the 27th ranked run defense and you see a "w" on the road against a better defense?

Nothing like putting things in perspective. Sorry to piss in your cornflakes.

  6. Wow! The Bills just held on to beat an 0-5 team at home and a bunch of posters are calling for...

    Henry to be traded

    Adams to be cut

Smith to be replaced by pPice when Jonas comes back

WM to be annointed as the second coming of Thermal

Can we get a grip here? I mean we're taikng about an 0-4 team holding on to beat a 0-5 team at home. This is time to feel a little relief, not like a new era has begun. We can think like that when we see 3 and for "w"s in a row.

Baltimore is next... and minus their star offensive player. I don't have a "warm and fuzzy" that the Bills are going to come away with a "w". Should I?

  7. In the second quarter, the Bills, going into a stiff wind were facing a 4th and 11 on the Dolphins 25 yard line. They elected to attempt a field goal (43 yards) rather than going for it on 4th down.

I thought it was a "no brainer to go for it for two reasons....

    1) Lindell is maybe 50/50 to hit a 43 yarder on a good day, and I've got no confidence that he can hit one like that with a stiff wind in his face....

    2) Even if you just hand the ball off and get nowhere, it's harder for a team to drive 75 yards than 67 yards...

As fate would have it, Mularkey sends in Lindell to miss a 43 yarder and give possesion to Miami on the Buffalo 33 and then allowed them to drive 67 yards for a TD.

I realize that the ensuing drive by the Dolphins may not have had a different outcome than if they'd started that drive at the 25 rather than the 33. But, I still don't think Mularkey made the right decision by sending Lindell in. Anyone else question this move?

  8. Let not your heart be troubled my dear Fezmid. there are plenty of scanners available.... even for less than 100 bucks that you can purchase.... staples, walmart, etc. that have the capaqbility to scan negatives and slides. HP is a decent one for under $100.

The one thing you want to do if you scan any negatives or slides is to scan them at 1200 DPI because they're so small. However, get ready to touch them up in Adobe Photoshop or other, because you won't believe the number of artifacts that show up in the photo when it's blown up to where you can actually see every detail.

    good luck

  9. I've tried to contact a few in Ithaca but so far, there don't seem to have any openings. Would I have to start at teller you think?

That's a possibility... but if your serious about going into this field and wqorking your way up, it's not a bad idea learning from the ground up. Even if you did start out as a teller, with a college degree you would probably move up very quickly.

  10. If your interest is in finance/investment... why not look at the local banks? The pay might not be great to start, but at least you have your foot in the door and have opportunities to advance... mortgage loan officer, branch manager, etc. Once you gain some expereince you might be able to narrow down what you specifically have a desire and skill for and move in that direction

  11. WM vs TH......one thing that I am noticing big time vs last year.....this is not the same Travis Henry

Henry's got continual ankle problems and the rib thingy... plus every team in the league is puting 8 in the box or cheating up on every down to blitz Bledsoe. Henry has no place to go and Bledsoe can't make anyone pay for cheating up or blitzing. Henry is more quick than fast, so he has a hard time turning the corner. Willis is more fast than quick and has an easier time turning the corner.

Euhus? who knows for sure how bad the TEs are... remember, we don't have a QB that can get them the ball.

Denney/Kelsay... neither one impresses me... I vote that neither start and they bring in a real DE... and ditto for the RDE spot.

Evans vs. Reed? Reed's luck to be the number 5 receiver. No controversy here.

  12. that may be, but Donahoe had the 4th pick three years ago and blew it. He really can't be trusted with a pick that high.

Besides... having that #1 pick can be a real headache sometimes. Dallas would want to trade out of that spot is my guess... who would they take, Kyle Ortin? NOT! otherwise, they've got two pricey QBs and only one can play.

  13. so what? what have the 5 "name players" done for us lately?

    Bledsoe? nuff said.

    Vincent? Nuff said.

    Milloy? Nuff said.

Spikes?.... didn't he miss a tackle when his guy caught a pass in the middle of the field on the game winning drive?

Fletcher? two steps forward and 2 personal foul penalties backward.

We don't need "name" players. We need "playmakers"

  14. Sorry to burst your bubble, but this defenses is slightly better than average. It's given up game winning scores in 3 of the 4 losses and even if the Bills had tied New England, my money would have been on Brady leading the Pats to a game winning drive.

This defense aint gonna scare anyone. It may be better than average against the run, but there is no consistent pass rush to speak of from the defensive line. This defense has to manufacture sacks if it's gonna get them.... a blitzing LB here, a corner blitz there and a sfety blitz there. The corners are average and Clements gets burned more than McDonald's fry cook.

  15. dude... we're 0-4!!!! I got news for you, Bledsoe and Henry are not our saviors. So, at 0-4, why the hell would any Bills fan in the right mind think that plugging losman and McGahee into the starting lineup in a few weeks would make this team any worse?

0-4 is 0-4.... it doesn't matter if you lose by 2 points or 20 points and L is and L is an L.

Lastly... how the hell do you know whether Losman and McGahee are saviors or not. No one knows for sure til they play...

I know one thing, a lot of people in Pittsburg are using the "s" word with a 3-0 rookie QB named Rothlisberger.

  16. From now on... one play at a time. All three phases of the game. Don't look at the scoreboard, just worry about your own assigment and trust that everyone else is going to do the same.

I'd take inventory after each game and replace players that continually blow assignments or at least I would not put those players in the situations in which they continually screw up. I'd sub in a player that has proven he can carry out his assignment in a given situation.

  17. CAn we move an RB for a number 1 now? You tell me. What team would give up their 1st rounder for Travis or Willis. Name just one team that would be that stupid. Travis would garner a number 2 at best, and right now if McGahhe were put on the block, I don't see how any team would give their number 1 straight up... there would have to be conditions...something Donahoe would likely not agree to.

  18. First of all, if Donahoe is doing what he’s supposed to be doing, then the Bills should have talent. Right? Well, if Donahoe believes we have talent then, why are the Bills 0-4? One of two things, or both, has happened here. Either the Bills lack talent or Donahoe whiffed again on hiring a coach… or as I said, both.

So, let’s do some bench marking. Let’s compare the 0-4 Bills to the 4-1 Giants.

After a dismal season, the Giants (like the Bills) canned their head coach. Unlike the Bills, the Giants decided to go with a tried and true experienced Head Coach, albeit a prick of a guy. On the other hand, Donahoe, after 3 years of rebuilding and re-tooling the team with a rookie head coach at the controls, decided that this team was ready for prime time and in his infinite wisdom decided that any schlep can coach the talent he’ provided. So, after 3 years of re-tooling, he decides to go with another career assistant coach that would have been fired anyway had he not been offered the job. Conventional wisdom would be thinking that you’ve got a lot of young and new players, so to meld this altogether the best thing would be to bring in an HC with some experience… not a rookie… unless he was at least a HC at the college level with some assistant experience in the NFL (ie. Kirk Ferenz, Ralph Friedgen).

Well, the Giants may have even less talent than the Bills… or best case scenario is that they’re even. The difference then must be at the Head Coaching level. How else can you explain it? Parcells takes a bad team and instantly makes it a good one. Now, Coughlin takes a miserable team and is now in a serious dog fight for supremacy in their division.

The problem seems to be with Donahoe. Never in his life has he ever hired a former Head coach. Why? Well, basically Donahoe is a prima dona. He didn’t like playing 2nd fiddle to Chuck Noll in Pittsburg so he hired a schmuck like Cowher tto take over when Noll retired. The only problem… Cowher had a mind of his own and challenged Donahoe. Eventually, in Pittsburg, that got Donahoe exposed, and eventually canned. But everyone bit on, myself included, on the “Donahoe-Modrak Myth”. Now it’s clear that this tandem was a creation of the media.

The only question now is does Ralph really care anymore. The reality is that he’s in the twilight of his life, owning a team that has a continually shrinking market. Maybe his agenda is to just ride this out and set the team up so that it is prepared for “market” when he eventually passes. If that’s his agenda, then he’s picked the right guy in Donahoe. He’s got a manageable salary cap, a new potential nucleus (Losman, McGahee, Evans), a sweet lease deal with an esxcape clause, NFL leadership that will bank roll a sale and move to LA as well as a possible move to Toronto, and a team that has no place to go but up. If I’m an entrepreneur with eyes on an NFL franchise, I’m salivating if I look at the Bills.

If Donald Trump had eyes for an NFL franchise, he’d get a good deal by buying the Bills and then moving it to a venue where he can reap the benefits of a new stadium filled with 75% luxury suites and all the other seats with PSL revenue. I’ll tell you, as a fan though, I’m not getting a good smell from this whole situation. This Bills team rivals some of the worst Bills teams ever… ala 68-72, and 83-86.

So, I think now we really need to get a feel for where Ralph is at with this team and it’s performance. He’s not been visable as of late, which is a little unusual given the team’s performance. We may find out what he’s thinking after next week’s game against the Dolphins… especially if the Bills lose.
