Before responding please read up on the game against Cinn. They scored 27 and manhandled our defense. The receivers destroyed our secondary. The run game was prolific. Take a look at the statistics of the game . Our offense was bad but the defense lacked talent, intensity or coaching. I’m done.

You’re making my point. Is “perfectly fine”letting Miami’s 3rd string QB have the ball with a chance to eliminate us in our building, with the last possession of the game? Is “perfectly fine”getting embarrassed by Cinn in our building, eliminating us in the divisional playoff game? It’s OK for you not to care about winning, just don’t embarrass yourself criticizing people that don’t accept mediocrity. When teams are really good, coaches and GMs get fired when they can’t get further than our record the last few years.

Allen turning the ball over in the first game is what led to that and the offense doing nothing is what led to the loss against Cincy.

If you are expecting the D to hold a good offensive team to 7 points in the playoffs you are dreaming...that's not the way the NFL works anymore.

Did you watch the Super Bowl at all last year? How important was defense in that game? Not very.

This is an excuse too. Was he graded as a first rounder?  Maybe. Did he fit another team’s press man scheme?  Yeah. Did he fit out zone scheme?  Nope. That’s the difference. Not all first rounders are the same. He would have been decent in a scheme that fits his strengths. He just doesn’t fit ours. Beane def need to wear that. He panicked after McDuffie was drafted (imo) and now we are in this spot.

It's actually weird because Elam was very good in zone coverage early last year...especially in the Ravens game.

Specifically remember watching a knowledgable NFL person break down Elam's film and show how he baited Jackson into an INT in that game and generally looked like he was a natural zone corner.

Not sure exactly what happened since then to him.

“The D will be plenty good enough “ because they had Elam let Ridley run free and convert every 3rd down in the second half.of the Jags game. How will our corners do against Cinn.receivers or Philly’s, or Miami’s? Now we don’t have our best underneath defender(Milano) and our defense will be plenty good enough. To beat the G-Men, NE and Denver, sure. This team is not good enough to withstand the loss of White, Milano and Jones. I don’t scour the board to research your previous posts, I respond to the insulting response to my post.  You don’t even know what our new D looks like, they haven’t played yet.

They'll be perfectly fine just like they were last year with tons of injuries.

McDermott's D is premised on scheme being more important than the individual players in it. It's why they typically don't miss a beat.

Before psychoanalyzing the mentally challenged posters, you might want to look in the mirror. You’re the guy who accepts mediocrity using the excuse “if we didn’t get injuries to 3 of our best defenders we could have won it all.Next season will be different.” We have not gone to the conference championship in the Josh era. The Chiefs got their best wideout for their SB run(Toney) for the 100th and 108th pick in the 2023 draft. Von Miller became the biggest reason the Rams won the SB for a 2nd rd and late rd pick. Even McCaffrey is worth all the picks because he is the piece SF needs to win it all. But thankfully we have eternal optimists, accepting bad outcomes because the team makes the playoffs every year. Small market mentality, limited expectations. The NFL depends on loyal fans like you to keep watching, buying merchandise and not caring if a team ever wins is ring. Don’t complain, it’s just entertainment.

I am not using that as an excuse at all, I am saying the injuries on D will not be the reason why they don't win if they don't. The D will be plenty good enough.

Perhaps you should actually read the entire thread to see my previous posts before making up bedtime stories.

"Fatally flawed" has been mentioned here a few times since last week.

That strikes me as such an extreme characterization. It implies something that this team simply can't overcome.

I just don't subscribe to that.  Losing Jones & Milano hurts - but we were dominating on defense for the 1st month of the season.  Losing 2 players doesn't suddenly make us ineffective, or take us to the lower tier of the league.

I'm just happy professional athletes don't have the mental toughness of the posters on this board who fold like a cheap tent the second any type of adversity strikes.

Makes me shudder to think what must happen in their personal life when they burn toast...must ruin their whole year and force them to go see their therapist for hours of intensive counseling to help them thru the trauma.

Not a playoff defense by any stretch.

Wrong...it's still better than KC's defense that won 2 super bowls by a lot.

I wouldn’t assume Williams is the starter. I think it will be a split role.

The real problem is the secondary. It’s in shambles.

Not just due to injury. But also age.

The secondary is in better shape than it was last year early in the year.

They should have flown overseas Monday after the dolphins game

The science doesn't back this up. Over the last 70 years of teams in all kinds of sports traveling overseas, don't you think they've already got that figured out as to what works best?

Did you hear any of the NFL players who have been on teams that have done that and how they said it was a nightmare?

No, of course not, because you simply want to keep perpetuating this myth since you've convinced yourself it makes sense in your own head even tho it doesn't work the way you think it would for the body.

  9. This will be an unmitigated bloodbath with neutral fans from other teams begging NBC and the NFL to call it off by halftime and asking "please don't make us watch anymore of this...it's just not right what's happening out there on that field."

I'm not sure there will be an impact player...it's basically the Bills versus a MAC team. Will be so bad every player will look great for the Bills.

Does anyone know what is happening with Von?  At first I was surprised to see him on the sideline with his baseball hat on during the Jags game, and feared that he aggravated his injury, but now I assume that he was on a pre-set snap count.  Has McDermott talked about this publicly at all, or given any indication when he will be a full go?

Nothing, he is on a snap count and I think after they saw how bad the turf was there, they weren't risking him anymore.

We would basically have to hand them the game the way we did with the Jets.  Even still, the Jets are like 1.5 standard deviations better than the Giants.  We could probably give the Gints the ball on our 40 yard line 10 times and they'd come away with 9 points.

This is basically the Bills versus a MAC team. We could likely play backups and win this game going away.

  12. My God...the Giants are without their best OLineman LT Andrew Thomas and their starting Center this game.

Tyrod might get killed behind that OLine.

Tyrod might not survive the first quarter. Their best bet would be to literally hand off to Barkley every play.

Jeudy is not as good as Garrett Wilson or Chris Olave. That was never the argument. He is however better than Gabe Davis, and certainly miles better than the guys we have lower on the depth chart.

And you know Davis has never had a 1,000 yard season either, right? In fact Jeudy had 136 yards MORE than Davis last year while playing 213 snaps LESS, without the benefit of an elite QB and an elite WR1 drawing attention away.

This isn't even an argument. The only possible reason to push back on trading for Jeudy is his contract and the draft capital we'd have to give up for him. And personally I'm sick of always playing it conservative, always worried about how the move will impact us three years from now while Allen's career slowly slips away.

Exactly...they had nobody to throw the ball to and he STILL can't put up default #1 Numbers without a Diggs taking the bulk of targets.
