Well that’s definitely not true. It’s how pattern matching with Cover 3 works. It wouldn’t be possible if the boundary didn’t move to cover the flat, since the SS is moving to cover the boundaries original deep 3rd he abandoned on the man route. It becomes Mable with the SS. Saban defenses do this all the time.

Agree to disagree I guess. I don’t see any banjo here at all.

So let me get this straight...you are trying to tell a former college defensive coordinator he doesn't know what he is talking about because you read a playbook?

Let me know how that one works for you. Should probably change your username.

  2. This Jets Giants game is God Awful. It's cold and rainy... By all rights the Giants should be winning this going away. They have had countless things go their way... 2 turnovers in Jets territory, been all over Zach Wilson, basically Jets hit one nice little dump off the Breece Hall  that he took to the house.

But now Tyrod Taylor is out with ribs and at the hospital being monitored, so they have some Tommy DeVito dude in...he is playing like Danny DeVito...maybe he should go to Jersey Mike's for Dinner and a Show at halftime and not come back. Giants would be better with Barkley running Wildcat all 2nd half which is what will happen if DeVito goes down...probably should do it anyway, he is terrible.

Jets are down to their 3rd string Center up off the practice squad who has caused a fumble with a bad snap the Giants recovered and then almost snapped it over Wilson's head...

This is going to be an adventure in the 2nd half.  Basically like a giant car wreck waiting to happen that you see standing on a bridge and you know it's going to be really bad but you can't turn away...

You have to feel a little bit stupid adding the qualifier of "regular season game" there right? When the chips were down, they lost. Badly. With an otherworldly QB. This team is handicapped by a terrible coach. No amount of sugar coating will change that.

Blah blah blah blah...this board is handicapped by terrible posters far too often but they still are allowed so I guess there is that.

I said regression of our team.

I think that's going a little far when they haven't lost by more than 5 points in any regular season game in 2 years.

In 2021, they were 7-6 at one point.

How they look right now is irrelevant. Too many people are worrying about something that has no relevancy to how they are going to look heading into the playoffs.

We aren't aspiring for the norm. We're trying to be a Super Bowl contender. Teams like Miami and Philly are our competition for that goal... So when you use those teams as examples, you're proving the point. We have to beat those teams to achieve our final goal. Hard to do that when they're starting off with such a huge advantage over us in that one key area.

    How's KCs WR corp looking?

I'm not opposed to adding Hopkins, especially at the cost of his remaining contract.

But this idea that Davis has big production games and then doesn't have big production games is not uncommon amongst #2 WR's. You make it sound as though unless he produces like he did last week every single week, he's a total failure as a #2 WR.

He currently sits at 28th in the league in WR yardage and tied for 4th in the league in TD's by WR's. For a #2 in a league with 32 #1's, that's incredibly good statistics.

Yeah...people seem to think teams with first round picks as #2's with star WRs like Miami and Philly are the norm.

    They aren't.

Getting really sick of seeing the flops. Have said it before. Allen does it a lot but it’s pretty routine around the league. Honestly believe they should start giving an embellishment penalty then players will stop with the *****.

They do it in all sports...

Soccer is the worst by a mile.

Hockey, some guys go down from being "hooked" even when the player barely touches them(they can get penalties for embellishing tho).

Basketball with players taking a charge, pretending to get hit on the way up, etc

Baseball might be the only one that doesn't really do it much mainly because there aren't many opportunities.

Stop with the Stalworth references, I’m begging you. It means zero. If you hear anyone from the Bills coaches or players saying that defense was adequate I’ll send you a gift certificate. C’mon did that play look like it was defended well. I respect you’re a loyal fan, but using a washed up receiver and his nonsensical take as the final word is silly. Good conversation, I’m done.

Just like you not knowing WTF you are talking about means zero.

When was the last time you saw a well thrown Hail Mary ball landing in the middle of the endzone not be touched by any player? Seems like pretty good defense to me.

  9. 4 hours ago, Eastport bills said:

Thanks for straightening that out, As long as Dante says he shouldn’t be looking where the ball is headed, because he knows how Tampa runs that play having retired 6 or 7 years ago. My point was how the Bills defended the play genius. I don’t care what Godwin’s motivation was. Take a few deep breaths. You’ll be fine.

Yes...because actual NFL players know these plays are pretty much standard for all teams that approach them in the same way.

As far as how they defended it, Stallworth said they "executed the defense of the Hail Mary perfectly".

Sorry to burst your bubble. I know your ego can't handle that your wrong so I'm sure you'll continue to argue against it.

  10. 1 hour ago, Eastport bills said:

Every NFL studio show said if Godwin turns his head the Bills lose. The Bills defense allowed an 8 minute drive for a TD, a 2 pt conversion and another drive with their prevent defense ending in the “Hail Mary” that would have won the game. Why are you defending this, with the Donte Stalworth nonsense. You watched the game, what did you see? Did your ass pucker with dread on the last throw? From Sean’s decisions to the imbecilic face mask penalty, to their inability to get Baker on the ground. The whole operation was not championship caliber. Be objective.

Maybe you should know WTF you are talking about first.

Stallworth and Orlovsky(who had like a 5 minute video that basically explains the same thing Stallworth had a thread on) said the reason Godwin wasn't looking for the ball was because HIS JOB WAS TO NOT BE LOOKING FOR THE BALL!

His job was to be watching the "Deep tipper" on the play, Mike Evans, and play off what he was doing and be ready for a deflection if it came to Evans.

This is the damn problem on this board. People who have no idea WTF they are talking about make assumptions on their wrong ideas and act like that is what was supposed to happen.

It wasn't. Godwin wasn't looking because his job WASNT TO BE LOOKING!!

If you want to listen to people, listen to ones that know WTF they are talking about like a former WR or former QB not random studio people who never played football or defensive lineman who would have no idea what was supposed to actually happen on those plays since they never have been involved in them.

Something was gonna change re: support for McD, one way or another this season, seven seasons in.

One can also only live on backing into the playoffs in one's inaugural season, as the worst of the other 7th-seed contenders, for so long.

After 7 seasons, McD's playoff track record here is all but identical to that on Carolina when he was the DC under Rivera.

    There, 1 WC round loss

    2 D round losses

    1 SB loss

    Here, 2 WC round losses

    2 D round losses

    1 CC game lots

Considering the difference in QBs and records of the two teams during those 6 & 7 year stretches, that's ridiculous.

You realize Carolina went 15-1 one season with Newton right?

  12. Kansas city and Philly again.

KC now has a really good D to go along with their offense. Basically they are like us last year where DVOA for offense, defense and special teams is Top 5.

Hard to pick against them considering they won 2 Super Bowls with mediocre defenses at best.

Phills has been up and down but my goodness their D Line is a wrecking crew.

They are undisciplined. It can be debated that McDermott is the problem, which in a way he is solely based on the team being undisciplined. Others point the finger directly at Dorsey which I won’t deny. Could Josh be responsible for a good dose of mistake filled games? This point of view I can understand as well and last but not least that as a whole the team really doesn’t have great players and/or contributors outside of Diggs which I personally don’t agree with. No, it’s being undisciplined. Undisciplined teams do not win consistently or convincingly. That 4th down penalty on Jordan Phillips was the icing on the cake for me. I have zero expectations for this team. If there isn’t a drastic change or improvement with this team in being disciplined they are going nowhere. In this scenario McDermott is solely responsible for them being a mess and either he addresses it and gets it corrected or he doesn’t and that people is the biggest problem with this team.

A random hand on a face mask in a split second has literally nothing to do with discipline.

Now if players were committing personal fouls regularly after the whistle or taking constant false starts/Offside penalties or a myriad of other things that show lack of discipline, then sure.

But don't hold up something that has nothing do with discipline as the "shining example" of lack of discipline.

Makes you look like a clown.

If you haven’t watched this you need to (especially if you’re a “Dorsey sucks at play design” guy). He breaks down the RPO game I’ve been referencing all year as well as the mesh concept that everyone is complaining about spacing on. One thing I’d like to clarify from the video. What JT is calling “Access” on the RPO game is really just your man coverage beater. You see this a ton at the college and high school level where you essentially have three options based on what you’re seeing - the run, the pass option off of the run, or abort the whole thing and throw the man beater.

I thought the breakdown of the RPO stuff was pretty fantastic and him showing the player being "read" or "put in conflict" so that he is always wrong because they just choose the other option based on what he does is kind of fascinating.

Who cares what Evans did, our team was unaware of the flight of the ball. The defending team is supposed to surround the ball and bat it down. That game was dominated by the Bills and with last two drives it could have been an L. If Sean is going to leave our fate to his prevent defense, coach these guys to defend the desperation heaves at the end of the game.

Funny that Donte Stallworth, an NFL receiver who knows a thing or two about Hail Mary plays credits the Bills for executing perfect Hail Mary defense on the play.

But clowns on an Internet board know better I suppose.

  16. Just now, FrenchConnection said:

They don’t usually call PI on hail Mary passes because it is usually happening both ways. That is, of course, unless Tom Brady is the QB throwing the ball.

Exactly...people honestly act like they've never watched any football games before last night.

The Bills thoroughly mugged the receivers and the no-call saved our collective asses. It’s one thing for the Bucs not to look up for the football, but our dbs and safeties were not remotely near the ball. How are we coaching these players? I love Taron Johnson but he fouls receivers with no hesitation at crucial times. Sean needs to read these guys the riot act or other teams will start exposing this weakness.

It was equally a no call on Mike Evans tossing Poyer to the ground. Give it a rest with this bull crap.
