  1. As someone who is job hunting as well (got laid off the end of January), if I could never talk to another tech recruiter, I wouldn't. Sadly, in IT, they are far too prevalent just to ignore. Tech Recruiters are scum who just care about having a big searchable resume file and will contact you about jobs based upon keyword searches of your resume rather than talking to you and seeing what you are looking for. I dunno how many times I've sent my resume for a job that was posted that they "had already filled" despite it being posted that day. They were simply farming for resumes.

    Sigh.

  2. Apparently you didn't bother reading the article.

A Patriots spokesman said he doubts Brady is aware of Paiva's situation.

Police caught him on surveillance video.

Shortly thereafter, Paiva said he received a call from a Boston police detective.

We DO live in an age of pure and utter douchebaggery, where people throw out accusations and assumptions without knowing or bothering to read the whole story (that's right in front of them).

I did read the article. And what I said is still true. The article says, he doubts he is aware of Paiva's sitatiion, i.e. Brady isn't aware the guy is begging on the streets to pay him back.

What I said is that Brady found his flower pots were stolen, called the police, and PRESSED CHARGES even though everyone involved conceded it was an honest mistake. The problem isn't what happened AFTER an agreement was reached, the problem is that after seeing what happened, the douchebag still pressed charges.

  3. why would an athlete with millions and millions of dollars such as tom brady care about some guy who steals flower pots for a living and panhandles? that guy don't need $4000 tom has a kid to feed!

More proof Brady is a douchebag.

He left his flower pots (or whatever they are) outside, guy finds them, thinks someone threw them out, decides to take them and sell them for scrap. Brady must have had to first find out who took them, then once he did, he took the time to CALL HIS LAWYER and PRESS CHARGES.

Over an amount of money he makes in less than 2 minutes of playing time.

Honestly, we live in an age pure and utter douchebaggery.

  4. My issue with the movie was with the ending, but not the change that was made (blaming Dr. M vs having a giant squid) but the decision not to show the piles of bodies in NY. I thought the violence was over the top in parts it didn't need to be (the clever to the head, the cutting off of the guys arms in prison, both weren't in the book) but pussied out in the one part where it needed to be gory. Moore's novel was violent to generate a emotional response and make the "compromise" ending much harder for the reader to swallow. Most people I was with didn't get that "I can't believe this" vibe. Snyder wasn't allowed by the studio to show bodies piled in the streets of NY like the GN, so it was almost as if he was over compensating the rest of the movie. Also, I thought the fighting scenes were bordering on retarded. Part of the idea of the book was that these (except for Manhattan) were normal people who were vigilantes. Why give them super duper strength and fighting ability? I know they were trying to sell tickets, but still, why not have the fighting stay in the realm of normalcy.

It was nice to see the book come to life and snyder stay faithful, but I think on alot of things, he just missed the point.

  5. Hey, anyone know anything about watching the Bills in Chicago?? I'll be there for the weekend and am thinking about staying and watching the game in the city on Sunday instead of leaving early to try to make it back in time for kickoff. Plus, there is no bills bar where I live now.

I see the Bills backers meet at Lincoln Station, which is close to where I'm staying

Whats the scene here like? Is it worth staying to watch the game here?

Any other sweet places where Bills fans congregate?

I have never been to Lincoln Station, but just down the street you'll find Delilah's, a rowdy bar packed to the brim with bills fans. $2 Labatt blues on game day and if you stay downstairs, usually a free shot or three during the game bought by the kind patrons. Have you seen those videos with the NYC Bills Backers? Thats what its like at Delilah's. Just south of Diversey on Lincoln.

  6. The man who is seeming on a mission to discredit the bills today (on mike and mike this morning, on ESPN's MNC this evening, gets ripped pretty bad

I almost choked when I heard Carter rip former Detroit Lions general manager Matt Millen for drafting wideout duds Mike Williams and Charles Rogers. Maybe Carter doesn’t realize that people actually, you know, keep track of what he says.

Carter helped both Williams and Rogers train before their respective drafts. And this is what he said about that on Sunday: “Matt Millen – do a little undercover work. (Mike) Williams and Charlie Rogers both worked out with me before the draft. I could have told him, don’t draft neither one of them. (He) never asked me.”

That’s interesting because here is what you said about both players just before they were drafted. Carter’s comments about Rogers, to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel just before the 2003 draft: “He’s very similar – and I don’t like to make a lot of comparisons – to Randy (Moss) in a sense, a big basketball player playing wide receiver. He’s the only receiver that’s come out since Randy that you can make an honest comparison to. He has a yearning to learn.”

And Carter’s comments about Williams, to the St. Paul Pioneer Press just before the 2005 draft: “I think he’s going to be a great player. I think people will be surprised at the kind of person he is. He’s really a hard worker. He takes his training very seriously and wants to be very good.”

    So much for consistency.

  7. Was at the BEST bills bar here in Chitown, Delilah's on Lincoln and Diversey. Right before the 2nd half starts up, I turn my head and who do i see?

    Brian FREAKIN Campbell.

I looked over and said hello, shook his hand at the end of the game and got my picture with him.

Wished him a great season, except of course, when you play Buffalo, which he said "well thats only once"

Seriously though, if you are a bills fan in chicago, you need to come to delilah's. By far the best bar i've ever watched a bills game at.

$2 Blues and a bunch of rowdy bills fans and a great bar.

  8. My poker dealer was saying that gas was going up to $6 a gallon by monday. Of course, everyone at the table freaked, I tried to explain that no natural disaster could drive the price up 50%, the dealer insisted it was already 5.29 in Michigan, he knew a guy who knew a guy.

    Sigh

  9. I know! They aren't bad if you want a cheapo, slop of a taco.

Since moving to the South Side of Chicago... Nothing compares outside of Mexico (and that is even a stretch)... I don't know how even Taco Bell makes it here on the South Side? Mighty would fail miserably here... Well, I kinda know how Taco Bell makes it... They cater to the people who want a name brand.

Here... Everything is authentic... Even my Mexican sister-in-law who lives in the BFLO area is always requesting that we send her authentic Mexican products that she would only get in Mexico... Closer to send it from here!

Once you hit these places (along with hitting Nueva Maxwell Street on the weekend), one will feel cheated at Mighty Taco by eating a "Greengo Taco": :wallbash:

    Beyond The Taco

    Nueva Maxwell Street

I have local joints that are within a couple of blocks where I live and the food will knock your Sox off!

    EDIT:

You have to get over one's "Anglo Fear" when walking into some of the small local joints... Oh, and brush up on your Spanish!

I live on the North Side (logan square), mexican restaurants seem to be hit and miss. Some are just bland, and some are amazing.

Do you go to deliliahs for the games on sunday?

  10. I have the Sprint PPC 9300 (i believe) and it uses EVDO. I don't get out of work till 8, so I usually have to catch the 1st period on my phone while the day dies down @ work via my slingbox. EVDO is only as good as your local coverage, so I'd check the coverage maps before buying it. Also, with sprint, the EVDO network is only $10 a month more than the regular bill (same as regular internet), unless your using the "phone as a modem package" which lets you connect over the internet on your phone.
