There may be laws, or it's written into the contract, but think of it this way.  When I was renting, a 10x10 was about $100/month.  If I go three months without paying, and it goes to auction, if someone pays the storage site $2000 for the contents, the storage facility just made $1700 by sitting on a locker that only owed $300.  Plus not having to take the time to deal with cleaning out a unit and selling all the stuff is a time saver too.

Yeah, I get the profit they make, and the hassle it may take to go through/clean out these units, but.....I certainly would do a quick look for anything valuable. Like I said, any safes in there may contain expensive valuables, or cash, or gold, or jewels. Heck, some people have even stored vehicles in these units. Imagine being the owner, taking possession on an unpaid unit after waiting the time stipulated in the contract, rolling up the door, and seeing a classic Corvette in there! That would be a great day!

The one I went to they open the door first before the bidding starts.

Again, I’m not familiar with how these auctions work, but if I’m an owner of a storage facility, and someone stops paying, and then I become the owner of the stuff in an unpaid unit, I sure as hell go into that unit the very day I become the new owner of the stuff to paw through it and see if there’s anything good/valuable in it, and if there is, I take that stuff for myself.  And in this case, the second I see a gun safe (or any type of safe in any unit) I immediately take this unit off the roster of auction units until I go through ALL the stuff in there, but especially the safe.

Are there laws preventing what I’m suggesting above? I wouldn’t think so…I would think the same principle would apply anytime you leave an item (or items) at: a computer repair shop, an automotive repair shop, a tow yard, a consignment shop, etc.

For those unaware, not paying storage fees results in the property being legally considered abandoned property. The purchaser assumes all risk upon buying as most of the time the lock doesn't come off until you buy. Could have 4 empty tuna cans and 2 used adult diapers. That's your property now. Could have something worthwhile. Could be holding something illegal that's seized by authorities. It's financial Russian Roulette.

Never watched the show that deals with these auctions, but do they really bid on them before they unlock it and roll up the door, sight unseen, or do they bid after the door is open and they can at least see what's in it (not rummage through it, but just get a look from 5-10 feet away)?

Unfortunately this is just one of many miscues by this regime.

2024 will be a true year of reckoning sadly for Beane and McDivisional and hopefully the Pegulas finally take action before it's too late.

Agree with your take here, although I like “McClappy” better. LOL

As for the Pegulas, I’m pretty sure that Kim Pegula is no longer actively involved in any operations for the Bills, and Terry may not being doing much either in running the Bills anymore, as he may be preoccupied with his wife, and he may be fine with Beane (and other top execs) running the show.

Of course I’m just speculating here, as I’m not an insider.

If you assume her side of the story is correct that reads like harassment to me.  The guy needs to grow up and learn to accept No for an answer.

bottom line it's disturbing she went through all of that because of him.  The situation Bad enough she created a civil lawsuit.. Maybe it will settle out of court they often do.  *shrugs*

who is telling the truth.  His lineage to #12 pains me to be honest.  The guy had the ultimate pedigree.

Good post. If she's telling the truth, it's just absolutely mind boggling that in today's world, some guys are still out there doing this, apparently thinking that it's OK and/or they'll get away with it and suffer no consequences.

As an afterthought, this kid is a young, big time pro athlete (yes, I know, it's Canada...LOL)....shouldn't getting girls (who actually want to do it with him) be as easy as waking up and getting out of bed in the morning?

Yet again the Chiefs show where they're better than the Bills. Great move by then, and no idea why the Bills didn't go back in for him. Haven't really read the thread in full so not sure if Araiza rejected them over his treatment through the allegations. Of all the teams... but good move by the Chiefs and, unless he turned them down, the Bills caught short again.

A bunch of people in here have already speculated that he may not have wanted to come back to the Bills because they showed him zero loyalty, and immediately kicked him to the curb at the behest of the pitchfork wielding mob. That sounds plausible to me.

Yeah.... there's a huge difference between the media asking about the health of a woman who has no barring on the field or in public and was barely visible in the first place and trotting an accused r-pist on the field every Sunday.

We could have said "we don't want to field questions about this". It wouldn't matter. They would never let it go and we'd be destroyed for avoiding the subject on a daily basis.

I’m going to bed soon, and not going to go back and forth with you on this, but she was President of the Buffalo Bills, which is waaaaaaayyyyy different than just a “regular” wife of an NFL owner, who is not involved AT ALL in the operations of the club.

And like I said, YES, they surely could have stonewalled the questions if they had wanted to, just like they have with Von Miller.

There was ZERO chance Bills were doing anything other than cutting him once the allegations were made.  Remember the allegations?  Having non consensual sex with a minor?

You know what? The Bills did a great job with putting a total lid on ANY info about Kim Pegula…for Six Months…when she disappeared from public view. Nobody in the media even dared ask a question about her.

They could have showed some loyalty and done the same thing for Matt A. After all, I always hear/see/read that the Bills organization are one big “family”, right? And that includes Bills fans too. They certainly didn’t treat Matt A. like family. After an initial presser (after the bogus lawsuit was made public), they could have shut down any & all media questions & inquiries by stating at that first presser that they would not be addressing it again. But that would have taken brass balls by Beane & McClappy, and they obviously have no such cajones.

Ugh. Really? It took the entire year for his name to be cleared. What did you want the Bills to do? They definitely couldn’t play him.

Way back when, once he was eligible to be put on the practice squad, they should have done that.

And they certainly should have signed him last week, or as soon as they were able to (by league rules).

  10. Just got home from work and just seeing this news now. IMO, it’s just another example/indicator of why the Chiefs have won multiple SBs, and why the Bills are perpetual one (or two) and done in the playoffs every year.

After the late season problems that Martin had, MA should have been signed ASAP by the Bills. Beane let us down, again.

Right. The ball just randomly was thrown 10 yards short for no reason at all.

You are definitely in the minority with that opinion including the opinion of former players who have seen the play.

Your first sentence above insinuates that JA never makes an inaccurate throw, which of course is nonsense.

As for the other sentence, people can also tell me the sky is green, even though I can plainly see that it is blue. So I normally go with what my eyes actually see. 😉

Edit to Add: just went and rewatched the 2nd & 9 play AGAIN. The throw lands about 2-3 yards in front of Shakir, in the end zone, NOT TEN YARDS.

  12. 13 minutes ago, Ya Digg? said:

On 3rd down yes he could’ve done more, on 2nd down it’s an emphatic NO, he didn’t need to do more. Sure we all see Diggs was open but A) no one knows if he was the first, second, third read and B) if Dawkins holds his block just a half second longer it’s a touchdown

I have watched the replay of that 2nd down play numerous times, and my opinion is that the bump from Jones/Dawkins was not that strong, and didn’t affect the throw as much as many people think it did. ALSO, could JA have sensed the pressure coming there (it was the ONLY pressure getting close to him) and stepped up a bit, or stepped to the right a bit, to give himself more room, and time, to throw? Of course the answer is YES.

Where stats do matter is when you're trying to determine where you are falling short and how you get over the hump to "just win, baby".  And Allen's stats are a reminder that he is the Bills best player.  Stats also provide compelling evidence to disprove the morons constantly claiming that "Allen has to do more".

Against the Chiefs, in the final drive, he DID need to do more. On 2nd and 3rd downs, he threw incompletions. If Mahomes was our QB in that situation, he would have thrown a completion (or ran for a 1st down like he did in the SB multiple times), kept the drive moving downfield, and either got close enough for a chip shot FG or got the go ahead TD. If you don’t agree with the latter, you’re lying to yourself.

Btw, I’m not a moron, and have been closely watching NFL football for 50+ years, so I have an “educated” opinion. OTOH, regardless of what all these stats say, people who think JA has no faults are blinded by homerism. I understand the latter, but it doesn’t make it right.

Why on earth would I donate when the 60 or so multimillionaires on the Chiefs (and/or their billionaire owner) could, and should, easily handle it?

Yes that is a good example of a great QB let down by a bad and aging roster in his final year with the Pats. So he went to the most loaded roster in the NFL and was immrdistely able to win another Super Bowl despite playing well below his own standard throughout the playoffs.

Sorry, what point did you think you were making?

You must have missed my post upthread here. His QB rating for that year WAS OVER 100, so yeah, he had a terrible year, and he had nothing to do with them winning the SB. 🙄😂

Well then why are you being harsh on Swift for trying when you are now saying the Chiefs should take care of ALL their needs?

Not being harsh on her. She probably should have waited, as I'm guessing somebody will establish some sort of charity fund that will benefit ALL of the victims, and then she could have given to that, instead of immediately jumping to give $$$ to this one family. She'll *probably* donate to that new fund too.

Yes...to a point.  The Bucs had an elite defense. A great WR1 & great WR2

The Bucs season we're talking about was in 2020. From Wiki:

The Buccaneers defense, somewhat maligned over the previous several seasons, improved in several categories. In total yards allowed, they improved from 15th in the league the previous season to 6th. In 2017 they had ranked last. In passing yards allowed, they improved from 30th in 2019 to 21st. In total points allowed, they improved from 29th in 2019 to 8th. They also flipped the turnover margin from –13 in 2019 to +8 in 2020.[10]

Several franchise records were set during the regular season. Tom Brady threw a Buccaneers record 40 touchdown passes, while Mike Evans had a record 13 receiving touchdowns. Evans became the first wide receiver in NFL history with 1,000+ yards receiving in each of his first seven seasons. Brady posted the best season passer rating (102.2) in team history, and also tallied the most games with four or more touchdown passes (4). The team set a new high for most points scored (492) and most total touchdowns (59).

Their success was mostly due to Brady and the offense. Without Brady being an absolute clutch QB, they don’t win that Lombardi trophy.

  18. The shooting happened on Wednesday. Yesterday, the "authorities" went in front of the microphones and stated that they had 24 hours to charge the perps or by law, they'd have to let them go. We're now past the 24 hours and I see no "new" news, ssssoooo did they let them go?!

Edit to Add: Just saw that Taylor Swift donated $100k to the family of the woman who was killed. That was very nice of her, although what about the other victims? Many of them will probably have medical bills, lost wages, physical/mental therapy bills, etc. which will amount to way more than the cost of a funeral.

NFL players deserve some down time.  I don't begrudge them playing some golf in the off season.  Plus...perhaps playing with Tiger he can receive some mental pointers regarding steadiness in the face of game adversity.

After seeing the X post of Tiger somebody put up (page 3 in this thread), it sounds like JA was more concerned about getting golf technique tips rather than any "mental pointers." And just thinking about the latter, I'm not sure that topic would ever come up, nor would Tiger be able to impart anything to JA which would help, nor would JA even ask for help in that area. I mean, what could he possibly say to JA?....."You got to be more focused!" LOL  It's like that Seinfeld episode where Jerry asks George for advice on how to beat a lie detector test, and George replies, "It's like saying to Pavarotti, teach me to sing like you." LMAO
