There was one game that season that they only won by one point. It was against us.

My Godfather was the assistant defensive co-ordinator for that team.  (Miami week was deeply conflicting for my family.)  On their local 20th anniversary special, the consensus was that the only game they should have lost was this Buffalo game.  The players and coaches could remember specific plays where they flat out got lucky the ball bounced their way, got a call which they should not have, or a non-call went their way.  "That team was way tougher than 4 wins."

QBs are the main stars of the game. Who wants to pay tickets and watch TV to see a team without its Josh, Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, etc.?

With our JA17, I'm all for protecting QBs myself. They still get hit brutally from time to time. Ask Tua.

Funny.  I liked football better when QBs were not necessarily the main stars.  Shows how old I am.

    But would he get it?

We have seen Josh get smacked in the pocket after throws and not get a flag so …..

Short answer: no.  He is more physical than most other QBs and is presumed to be able to take the hit more than, say, Brady or Mahomes.

Fake slide should be unsportsmanlike 15 yards from the place of fake slide and loss of down

Omalu is pretty much anti-football in general, so it's not surprising he's the one saying it.  There is no way in hell Tua retires now assuming he makes a full recovery from this concussion.  I could see it with another major concussion on the heels of this one, but my understanding is that this is the first major concussion he's suffered in his career.  People are right to be appalled at how the last two weeks played out for Tua, but this "he should retire" talk is way over the top, imo.

One of the friends of my family worked with Omalu.  He did nor start off anti-football.

The juice goes for 2000 in a 14 game season and only one Monday night.

That was the previous season.  He was hurt about mid-way through the Oakland game.

What is up with 7 pre season games??

So basically when the NFL went from 14 to 16 games they just reduced he preseason games from 6 or 7 to 4?

    Did not know that...

    Correct.

By all means, do whatever you wish with your money. But these “charity drives” are starting to smell like performative stunts led by these very online “leaders” of Bills Mafia that I see all over twitter. The ones interacting with Bills media personalities and the like. By and large, they seem like clout chasers and nothing will motivate me to donate to something less than seeing Del or one of the “Mafia Babes” signal boosting it on social media. But that’s just me.

    EDIT:

This is exactly what I’m talking about. It’s not “negative” to suggest people do a little research and give responsibly. Do not just “give where your heart leads you.” Use your head a little bit too. Another Mafia guy virtue signaling online.

It may be performative for those who are trying to draw attention to Tua's concussions.  However, more attention should be drawn to them given Miami's handling of the situation.

Heard this on WGR this afternoon while driving and had to look it up...

Go to around 1:52:30 or so to see the part I am referring to..

This game between the Bengals and Oilers in 1980 was mentioned where the Oilers were trying to kill the clock to end the game but it was during the transition from always doing QB sneaks or dive plays into the line to try and end the game to kneel downs and the Oilers looked like they had no idea how to go about this...this was after the famous incident where Herm Edwards scored a TD on a fumble return to win the game where their opponent was trying to run out the clock in 1978 I believe. Teams began experimenting with different clock killing methods but some were better than others.

On first down, Stabler hands off to the RB who literally just stands there and doesn't move until he is tackled by the Bengals. On second down, Stabler gets the snap and literally flops down like there is a fumble and he is diving after it. On third down they do the handoff again and again the RB stands there and doesn't move until he gets nailed by the D.

They end up not killing the clock and giving Cincy the ball back after a punt with 30 seconds left, who almost got down to FG range to attempt to tie the game. Oilers led 13-10.

I had never really thought about this before...that victory formation and kneel downs wasn't fully accepted until the mid to late 80s and each team kind of did their own thing in late game situations where they had the lead.

Is the fumble you talking about by Joe Pisarcik?
