Without an improved offencive line, this is not possible in that kind of weather.

I have not seen Allen Gilette commercials, but I think I saw Anita Gillette commercials.

Just saw a rumour that the game was flexed to Saturday night on NFL network. True or false?
-
I got on my work news feed that NBC wanted this game flexed too.

Just curious: how many teams have won three consecutive games all on the road, period?

The only drive which truly matches it in my memory was in 1981 at Cincinnati: 20 plays, 90 yards, consuming almost 12 minutes on the clock. Cincinnati punted about 1 minute into the 4th quarter. The Bills scored on the 1st play after the 2:00 warning.
Power football is a lot of fun when you are executing a drive like that.

Wonder what the record is…
In 1990, the Bills scored more points per drive going 90+ yards than the average team did going 80 yards. That might be it.

This thread reminds me of a preseason game between the Bills and Vikings in the early 70’s. OJ had just put a move on middle linebacker Wally Hilgenberg for a big gain. When Hilgenberg came to the sideline, Vikings coach, Bud Grant layed into Hilgenberg and said they were paying him 250k per year to make that tackle (remember this was the early 70’s). Without missing a beat, Hilgenberg responded “but coach they’re paying OJ 650k to make me miss”.
moral is the other guys get paid too.
Thanks for bringing back that memory. 🙂

Bills tied for 5th fewest man games lost to injury with only 83.
The difference? Many of them have been to key players unlike the last several years.
So the excuses the Bills are somehow more injured than every other team needs to stop. They are STILL one of the least injured teams in the NFL even with what seems like a crazy rash of injuries...we just don't see all the players out for other teams because we don't follow them very closely.
Injuries to non key players/starters would help as well.
Sorry. Quality matters more than quantity.

The 1987-2000 Bills won a lot of games when they played poorly. Good teams can do that. Granted these performances put us that much closer to the looney bin...

A friend of mine whose brother is a lemon lawyer at Ford told me that the initial idea for the turf was shredded tires which had to be recalled because of some defect. Every time I see an injury in Detroit, I always wonder if that is the cause.

Giants? Check the thread title.

Now we rush 6 and Detroit gets man blocking. Our DL and LB are in trouble.
-
The Bills are keeping a TE or RB in to pass block and still the Lions get pressure with 4 DL. That OL is bad.

They can’t pass block, Dorsey is awful , WRs can’t get open.
Combine that with Josh being off, and this is the result we are getting
Correct.

It’s ridiculous, never seen anything like it
Buffalo Sabres, 1993 playoffs (LaFontaine and Mogilny go down in consecutive games) and 2006 (down 4 of the top 6 defencemen in game 7).
Figures.

CBS crew really hated that. Earlier in the series on the catch by Diggs they should’ve used a TO. taking a couple to the locker room is terrible clock management.
Maybe we get interest on the time outs saved? 😠

I’ve always been curious about the ability of a kicker to put enough air under the kickoff, so that the kicking team has as much chance to get to the kickoff as the receiving team (essentially a jump ball). Does anyone here know how much teams have ever played around with this?1 hour ago, WhoTom said:The returner could simply call a fair catch if he sees too many defenders approaching. We don't see it a lot, but you can fair catch a KO.
The technical term is "pooch kick."
The Bills attempted this in The Houston Comeback after it was 35-17. Several Houston players called for a fair catch (I can't believe that was legal), but the swirling winds caused the ball to land on the field, which Houston recovered.
I think the optimal strategy for most of the game is this one:

Our WRs have time to get open. They just dont run good routes except for Diggs. This is the issue with this thread…too many of you fail to acknowledge the deficiencies in our overall talent at WR. It’s like you choose to be blind to it.
I am of the philosophy that a better line will help the receivers we do have get open.
I will not debate you about the quality of the WR; it is not as good as it could be -- and teams know it because they bracket or straight-up double-cover Diggs on most plays.
IMHO, if we can man block on the OL, then the RBs and/or TEs will draw man coverage by LBs or find openings in the zone coverage if teams insist on doubling on Diggs. Moreover, the opposing defences will then need to respect the run, which will help our lesser receivers find soft spots in zone coverage.
Just my preference. Most fans are not as line-oriented as I am.
-
I was hoping that this would be something about the need for a better OL to give receivers more time to get open and to protect JA17. Oh, well.
-
He's the best receiver who had no catches at that point while his team was losing and the offence was being putrid. I want him to be upset.
-
About the only complaint I have about the second half is all the FGs.

Me: Dad, why did the Bills trade Lamonica?
Dad: So that we could have a Congressman.

This is a good team. Tough games are expected and, given the schedule, will be the norm.
