  1. Jumpin Jayzus… so crazy. Was wondering about her yesterday. Gonna read the article now.

    Paywall… blah…

I’m gathering now that Kim had a heart attack and that she must’ve suffered some brain damage going without oxygen so long before being resuscitated. Forgive me if this is already known, I’m just realizing now what the case seems to be. My goodness… heartbreaking

Lol, that isn’t me!! That guy had NO business playing at OSU.

McCord… he had a good high school career but if he hadn’t played with MHJ I highly doubt OSU would have offered him, 1) because he wouldn’t have had as good of stats, and 2) because I think OSU really wanted to land MHJ and taking his buddy helped.

McCarthy is extremely smooth at the mesh point.  No other QB in this draft class comes close.

I guess if O’Connell can build an offense that utilizes that action to great effect, he’s got the right guy. The thing that McCarthy also has going for him, which I already mentioned is his mindset. He’s focused on that very extensively which I respect a lot.

PS I love your username and Picart! Funny as hell

Do you mean about this topic or more generally like about life and stuff?

Not that I have a good answer for either, I’m just curious. 😂

I got distracted by Beane’s perfect little haircut that frames his amazing football-shaped brain. I didn’t hear a word.

But damn brother, I put the steak on your plate - do I have to cut it and feed it to you too??? 😂

Jets should have went hard for McCarthy.  He was there for them.  Instead they took a tackle to keep the Rogers dream alive.  But McCarthy is probably good enough right now to win behind that defense.  I watched him a lot at Michigan because I had a daughter there.  Jets would have been like Michigan all over - very strong defense, do enough on offense to not screw it up and maybe even make some plays.  Glad they took the tackle.

I’m a big Ohio State fan so I had my eye on McCarthy all year. He has good character and athleticism.

Do you feel that he has the arm talent to make it in the NFL? Maybe he just didn’t get to throw it enough in that offense, but I just don’t see the evidence of an NFL caliber passer. Especially when compared with some of the other top guys.

Yeah, most surprising to me is McCarthy. I like him. Seems like a good dude with tenacity. But nothing that I saw at Michigan screamed franchise QB to me other than his grit. I have a hard time seeing his ceiling as anything higher than “game manager with occasional flashes”. Maybe O’Connell can scheme up ways to help him over achieve.

I have no take on Maye. Never really watched him.

  7. I generally agree. We need Brady to draw up schemes that leverage the unique skills of our players. I still hope McBeane lands a high level deep threat at WR in the next year or so (one defenses truly fear) but I hope Brady maximizes the talent he has at his disposal.

I’m confident that Coleman has enough juice to do some real damage if used well.

I want to see a smash mouth running game and an A level deep threat added in the future.

You have a QB that's a Maserati. He's built for bombs away. But instead of building your offense for that, you build it for plodding, 10 yards at a time max, 10 minute drive offense. So I ask, what is the point?

What's the point of having a guy who's designed by nature to bomb the football deep and whose weakness is dink and dunk stuck in an offensive scheme that is built to do just that?

Why not offload him for someone who's better suited for that kind of thing if you refuse to play to his strengths? That's what I can't wrap my head around. It makes no sense.

i’m with you on this one. In a pre-draft post I talked about both Xavier Worthy and Keon Coleman. I had good things to say about both of them, but when we passed on Worthy, I was pissed. It’s not even so much that I was mad about passing on that player in particular. It’s just the complete lack of a coaching philosophy that builds around the strengths we already have.

Look, if Josh Allen and Keon Coleman lead us to a Super Bowl win I’ll crawl down the street in front of the parade wearing a tutu and repent with loud wailing. But you have a QB with possibly the strongest arm the league has ever seen that can move around and buy time. So dear God, load your roster up with wide receivers that can kill it on the second and third level of the defense.

We already have a couple of tight ends to take care of the underneath stuff as well as a running back that can catch. I think that’s a better way to what they’re doing.

we have a stubborn defensive minded head coach that is fairly good at figuring out how to stop offenses, but I really don’t think that he knows how to build one that can compete with the best offensive of minds in the game.

  9. I’ll add my voice to the chorus: let’s pass. I’m particularly excited to see what our undrafted free agents can do. From what I’ve seen, you could probably plug Keaton Bills in there right now, and he would be serviceable. So I’m excited to see how he develops under professional level coaching.

  10. We don’t have the space this year. It may be possible to add someone of Debo’s stature next year, but I would first:

    1) want to see how Coleman develops and know what his full potential is, and

    2) go after other pass catchers whose skill sets can beat me maximized in conjunction with the other receivers on the team.

Im more inclined to find that talent in the draft, but you never know.

I think this is doubtful because just like last year, when they took Kincaid, they took the guy that Josh Allen specifically identified as the one he wanted. They are clearly listening to Allen, and given Kincaid's performance last year and his obvious ability, they're probably wise to do so.

You may be right, but that said, Josh apparently had a “wishLIST of receivers,” as opposed to just Coleman.

That list could have consisted of MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, Thomas and Coleman. This would have made Coleman the choice by default.

I think it more likely to have included one or two more names, because how else would Beane have felt comfortable to trade down if there was only one name left?

I would bet good money that Josh’s list include at least one, if not both, of Worthy and Pearsall, in addition to Coleman.

I'd like to start a new tradition here on Two Bills Drive.

The premise is simple. I want everyone who's interested in testing their drafting acumen against Brandon Beane's to list who theywould have chosen at each spot, based on who was available in real life, compared to who the Bills actually chose.

I'll list where the Bills picked, who they picked in real life, and then who I would have picked. And I'd like each person who wants to participate to do the same. You can copy and paste the Bills picks and then post your own chosen player next to it (using the link below and picking only players who were available at that pick), unless you'd rather stick with who the Bills picked.

The only rule is that you have to pick where the Bills actually picked. You can't undo a trade-down they made, and you can't invent a new trade-down or trade-up. You have to stick with the real draft slots that the Bills picked from.

We can check back on this in future years and compare our own preferences to who Beane picked. A chance for each of us to put our money where our mouth is.

Here's the listing of everyone picked in the 2024 NFL draft and where, for easy reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_NFL_draft

    I'll start:

    Bills 2024 draft class:

Pick 33: WR Keon Coleman, Florida State

Pick 60: S Cole Bishop, Utah

Pick 95: DT DeWayne Carter, Duke

Pick 128: RB Ray Davis, Kentucky

    Pick 141: C/G Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, Georgia

Pick 160: LB Edefuan Ulofoshio, Washington

Pick 168: DE Javon Solomon, Troy

Pick 204: T Tylan Grable, UCF

Pick 219: CB Daequan Hardy, Penn State

Pick 221: G Travis Clayton, International Player Pathway

    Who I would've picked instead:

Pick 33: WR Ladd McConkey, Georgia

Pick 60: S Cole Bishop, Utah (same as Bills)

Pick 95: WR Troy Franklin, Oregon

Pick 128: CB TJ Tampa, Iowa State

Pick 141: C/G Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, Georgia (same as Bills)

Pick 160: RB Tyron Tracy Jr, Purdue

Pick 168: DE Javon Soloman, Troy (same as Bills)

Pick 204: OG Christian Mahogany, Boston College

Pick 219: WR Brendan Rice, USC

Pick 221: CB MJ Devonshire, Pitt

I like this game a lot. The only thing that would make it better is if we actually had to make the picks when the Bills were in actually on the clock. More difficult to pull off but that would be awesome. As it is I’ll try to my draft in the next day or two.

What the hell is the this alternate to Keon Coleman that turns this offense into what ever it y'all imagine it's gonna be? Like what am I missing here

Honestly, start planning years earlier to raise the probability of having emerging playmakers around Allen.

Next best, take multiple cracks at playmakers in this year’s draft.

Next best, take one guy and hope to beat the odds.

    Last option, do nothing.

McBeane did one step up from nothing.

    Nice guys. Decent professionals.

But they are squandering our franchise QB and Super Bowl chances. It’s a bummer.

He's incorrect on a Comp Pick in the 6th. That was projected for Dane Jackson's contract with the Panthers but was cancelled out by the Curtis Samuel signing.

What we're looking at right now from what we had, what we moved, projected comp picks (from Spotrac's Comp Guy - who reported on the Dane/Samuel cancellation), and what we've acquired is as follows:

    Round 1

Round 2 (from Minnesota via Houston for Diggs)

    Round 2

    Round 3

    Round 4

    Round 4 (from Chicago for 2024 5th)

Round 4 (Projected Comp for Davis)

Round 5 (Projected Comp for Floyd)

    Round 6

Round 6 (from NYG for Basham and 2025 7th)

Damn, Beane is gonna have to figure out how to get that 7th rounder back.

I think we can only know for sure that they had Coleman higher than Legette (knew Carolina was taking him) and McConkey (didn’t pick him when they had the chance).

They didn’t know who KC or San Fran would pick when they made the trade.

Theoretically they may have had Worthy and Pearsall higher.
