    Help me understand an OBJ trade

    Signing OBJ or not has literally 0% to do with if he is a good locker room fit, he clearly isn't going to be a problem.  Why people keep talking about it is puzzling, it is literally not part of the equation deciding on signing him or not.  

     

    The only real question is does signing OBJ make football sense between his injury recovery (OJ Howard still struggling to find his athletic gifts again and his torn ACL was before OBJ's) and roster make up.  Davis looks poised for a monster breakout, and we have 3 guys who look like they can be great at slot with Josh already.  So by the time OBJ is ready, if we don't have injury issues, it may not make sense to bring in a guy fresh off a torn ACL who doesn't know our offense and doesn't have any experience with Josh.  


    Howard tore his Achilles I think?

    I would love OBJ as late season insurance (hopefully everyone stays healthy) and because no defense can handle our 3 or 4 WR set at that point

    Why is Tommy Sweeney TE2  can we please get a legit player at the position 

    Von Miller listed as RDE. Is that the side he's been most successful on? I hope Leslie gets creative and lines him up all over 

    Benford listed behind White. Elam listed behind Dane.  Could that mean Benford starts opening night? 

    Why is Hart listed as a T.  He has been better at Guard 

    Shakir should be the backup to both Diggs and Davis...

    Beane and Sean obviously originally valued the word of their player more than a Jane Doe. 
    And shouldn't that be their default response in a situation like this?

    Otherwise, players would lose trust in them....
    They could be weary that any accusation of wrong against them would result in immediate condemnation

    Of the 3 I think Howard is the best blocker and most experienced, but isn't going to cause defenses to worry much, likely not going to give much YAC.  But if I have 3rd and 3 and want to go wit ha 2 TE set, I'd put Howard in either as a blocker or to run a 4 yard slant or something.  If it were 1st and 10 and going 2 TE set, I'd instead go with Morris as he could break one open.

     

    So where does that leave Sweeeny, IMO hoping they trade or just decide to take their losses and cut Howard. 

     

    Overall think Howard provides more than Sweeney with the exception being ST plays, but maybe Morris can take Sweeney's spot there.  Also think easier to sneak Sweeney onto PS than Morris.

    Okay, I keep hearing most people talking about how Howard hasn't shown anything and many seem to want him cut or traded if there's any takers.

    Am I alone in thinking he actually looked sneaky good?

    He's shown good blocking.  He's been lined up out wide and the few times he was thrown the ball he made plays including the TD.

    in Carolina he had a red zone route where he absolutely exploded off the snap


    I see him as being TE2 and a regular factor in red zone due to his size.  

    I would also keep Morris

    Thoughts?
