The hofers were all pretty much past there primes by 99 also the QB situation was forced by Ralph. Yes the music city miracle was a disaster but 13 secs to me was just as bad if not worse considering the Titans did throw that ball slightly forward and it should’ve been brought back. Wade had this team balling the following yr until the disaster at Tampa when we suffered major injuries to our defense Sam Cowart tore his Achilles, Keion Carpenter ,Antione Winfield & Pat Williams were all injured in that game. Wade was fired that offseason and Greg Williams broke the team up. Btw Sam Cowart was never the same after that injury he was on track for nearly 300 tackles that yr he was the best lber I ever saw in a Bills Uni and could’ve been a hofer had his career not been derailed by injuries. Wade wasn’t perfect but he never had the talent that McD has and he had us playing at high level as a team. Btw the defense Wade had vs Tenn was a Super Bowl caliber defense and we probably would’ve beaten the Rams that yr .

Sam Cowart's was one of the most unfortunate injuries of my time as a Bills fan. He was on track to become a very special player.

Not surprising so many here are putting words in his mouth. His own words aren't all that bad, so if you hate him you have to make something up.

He isn't even saying it was  him who made this decision, or at least not there he didn't.

Perhaps it is unfair, at least to a degree, but we have reached a point where more than ever he has to ponder every single word as anything he says (and doesn't say) can do little good and plenty of harm to his cause.

The reason for that is very simple: with absolute power comes absolute accountability.

The cute fairytale picture of McD being the poor little gardener who is only taking care of the magnolia tree is getting harder and harder to sell.

This is where I’m at. I’m firmly in the “yes” category here. He did a nice job rebuilding the culture but that is now settled. I’m not impressed by his record. His record has not exceeded the talent imo. That’s how I judge coaching. “Is your record better than if __ was coaching here?” I don’t see it with McDermott. There are dozens of guys that could have produced the exact same results with these rosters. They need someone that can elevate them to the next level. I said it before the year and I’ll say it again, unless they take the next step it’s time for a change while you still have prime Josh Allen.

Someone on here once made a brilliant comparison calling Sean, Doug Collins for those early Bills teams. He had Jordan and they became contenders. Once they moved on to Phil Jackson, they became 6-time champions. That really stuck with me and feels like such a fair comparison. We need more from our coaching staff than we are currently getting.

That's not the only example from the NBA. I seem to remember Rick Carlisle took the Pistons to the playoffs after a while, they still upgraded the position with Larry Brown and went on to win two championships.

The issue is finding that upgrade, but at some point it can and it must be done.

No.  He should be kept just to annoy those who have been calling for him to be fired, some for years.

I am SURE there are things he could have done to prevent injuries like putting all of the important players on IR ahead of time but that would not have necessarily helped record.

Time for some to take off CHINAGATE second hand jersey and show their other team.

On a side note, injury prevention was a big theme when the Bills opened their new/renewed training center. You know, with the state-of-the-art pre-hab facilities and such. I'm not sure they are doing any better than the rest of the league on that front.

There are views available from each seat and each player before invited should be given a TKO test - "Are these seats good enough for you?" and if the answer is no then they can see if they have seats which satisfy player or tell player "maybe next time".  These things are usually handled by Player Engagement These things need to discussed ahead of time and if changes are needed discussed again and agreed to.

I had a job offer once and a couple days before I was to start recruiter said they changed location and salary (lower) and my response was "That is not the job I agreed to." and his response "That is offer now."  On the Monday on first day of job (I was home for I took three weeks off burning vacation time I'd lose) I got call from recruiter and he said "Client called and asked why you did not go to work. You start today."  I responded I did not agree to contract and he said he has it signed by me.  I  told him the job stated different salary and location. He said "What I am to tell client." My reply was "Tell the truth - you screwed up.  When I visited company I met people I knew in administration and if lie and blame it on me I will sue you for slander."

Not only that, but since Takeo isn't the first former player or Bill of the past they invite to a game, they could have asked the previous invitees for feedbacks after their visits and made improvements accordingly.

I wonder if Takeo was a victim of circumstances, being this a season opening game in which an unexpected and larger than usual number of big shots turned up, or if this is SOP.

I mean, they’re literally the worse NHL owners ever. Terrys playoff drought is nearly 2x the next worst in league history.

The Bills are a lot better for sure. I get it. But also I get the criticism.

I don’t get why they don’t leave 4 seats open in Terry’s box specifically for this.

Maybe leave another 4 open in the friends and family suite with the wives, parents, etc. for any additional entourage.

    Agreed.

I'm no NFL owner but if I were, I would definitely want to have these Bills greats in my suite and do my best to pick their brain on anything football related I could, even the ongoing game itself.

Not necessarily to act upon or even agree on anything they may say, just to have a different perspective from someone who knows a thing or two about the game.

I’m not talking about their skill set and abilities.  Why does that matter?  We are talking about overcoming adversity.  Allen has a different skill set than Burrow meaning he’s more susceptible to losing confidence or something?

You stated Allen stays in the pocket too long, this post you’re now saying he leaves too early?  Which one is it?

The issues are clear with Josh.  He said it himself and has said it for years starting 6 years ago.

Man, I have never stated that Josh stays in the pocket too long. Have some coffee and re-read my posts.

Then why has Burrow been able to get through it?  His offensive line in his first two years was terrible.  Sacked 9 times in a playoff game.  He was sacked constantly in their 0-2 start last year.

Losing confidence in the OL means you throw downfield into double coverage?  It means you don’t throw the underneath route and force things?

People see different issues with Josh's play. One of them is leaving the pocket too early way too often. As clearly stated, my post was addressing that concern.

In that regard, Josh and Burrow are hardly comparable due to their different skill sets / athletic abilities.

  9. I'm not buying the it's pretty much all on Josh narrative.

For instance, I do agree, to address one of the concerns, that he may give up on standing in the pocket a little longer a bit too often, but I don't remember Brady having his RT pushed into his lap in such an embarrassing fashion in half a second either. Once you lose confidence in some of your guys, it's hard to revert the process. It becomes second nature.

Josh has his own faults, but changes around him have to happen, in the form of personnel, play calling, or drastic performance improvement, possibly all of the above, to get him back in a confort zone.

He heard it secondhand during some kind of NFL media zoom call. The media member who allegedly actually heard this brought it up.

Since it allegedly happened during a video call, I would ask the "media member" if he remembers Terry doing anything in particular while making that statement. If the witness mentions anything about nose blowing and picking, he is likely saying the truth and Terry is guilty.

is this a quote from like 10 years ago?

Doesn't seem relevant to me.  They didn't really get much better with zimmer's aggressive defense the next season.

I have never believed Frazier was not doing in part what McDermott wanted.  If you become a head coach based on something you did to get you hired you are not just going to let someone else run that unit without your final say on things.

time will tell and hopefully they pick their spots to be more aggressive but I am not anticipating this large change many seem to believe is coming.

    I would tend to agree.

Besides, it would have simply been negligent on McD's part to just stand there and witness his defense being sliced up time and time again by top offenses if he had such a radically different idea.

I'm anticipating some changes, hopefully more aggressiveness (not that it takes much) but not the night and day contrast that some seem to expect.

  12. Hard to disagree on McBeane having done a rather decent job on the "culture" side of things (although with a tad too much blame deflection on a few occasions).

Yet, there still is that evil side of me that would be totally fine with having a couple of players who serve some minor jail time if that came with winning a Superbowl.

I didn’t say cut Martin. I said to keep a second punter or get the NFL to make a roster exception for the Bills to carry Araiza.

I dont give a flying crap about allegations. America is about due process, always has been and should be. Do the right thing or the universe will make that decision for us.

Even from a merely football perspective, how many punters in the NFL have the ability to flip the field position that this kid seems to have?

I would definitely bring him to camp and figure out any possible final roster implication later on.

    RT looks BAD

Hard to disagree. On paper, RT looks like the weakest spot, but McBeane have been pretty straightforward in stating that they expect Brown to bounce back and take the next step forward in his career, and that's what they are left with.

To an extent, that's a bet that may make or break our chances to go as deep as we hope for into the off-season.

One more reason to carry 10.

From what I understand, estate taxes can be between 20% and 40% of the value of the estate, so in order for the children to own the team they would need to be able to pay a tax of well over $1 billion in cash. That's the biggest issue with the team remaining in the family sometime hopefully long, long into the future.

Another aspect adding complexity to the situation is that by that time the team may be worth half, if not more, the total inheritance, making a shared ownership the only viable option. That's certainly possible but my personal experience is that family businesses should be run by an odd number of family members, and three is too many.
