Where's our pass rusher for when Bosa gets injured or needs a massive raise after his one year rental.

I want an AJ upgrade big time. Need a second DT and second CB , safety project  later

     key words are the bolded.

allen2moulds is right onto something there :)

Yeah, good point.  Bosa will probably get hurt at some point.  Didn't our rook from last year have some potential though?  I'm blanking on the name.

  2. Here are my hopes for the Bills strategy.  Starting/difference making players at CB and DT, and if the draft falls well WR, S, and LB.  Then depth and special teams.  I think there's a decent chance we can get 3 starters.  The only thing I don't know is where the needs lie after CB and DT.  Do we need a S more than LB?  Probably, unless there's injuries at LB but there always are.  A WR that has separation would be great but not an absolute need.

only player to trade up for.....mason graham

I'm actually starting to get wary of Michigan's DT's.  Could they have excelled so much because they have 2 beasts playing together?  I'm not saying this is the case but just something i've started worrying about.

if our new DB coach likes him (having coached him)  I say sign him and see how he does in camp.  Worst case you cut him.  Best case he wins CB2 or 3

agree. Jones should be immediately CB3 on the depth chart at worst….and above Dane

I dont mind bringing in an ultra athletic guy to see if his career can be resurrected.  Like you said, he can be released if it doesn't work.

  5. Good, hopefully one of them makes it to us so we don't have to trade up.  I hope we go DT instead of CB.  We seem to do just fine taking corners later anyway.  Don't get me wrong, if there's a stud CB go for it.  But if not I see DT as a slightly bigger need.

Where we have been basically decimated by injuries historically in our tenure?

We've played pretty good against the Ravens... And broncos and Patriots and Ravens again

We are giving up typically like 23 points a game when we win.. that's not bad for the playoffs

Then people will be like we give up 35 when we lose the last five.. well guess what the Chiefs and Andy Reid their last five playoff losses give up like 33

Every team has injuries.   Yes, ours were worse certain years but it's not an excuse I would use year after year.

Sean McDermott has been a head coach or defensive coordinator for 16 years

8 top 10 in YPG... 6 in top 10 in ppg

Spagnola has 5 top 10 ypg and 6 in top10 ppg

McDermott 14 out of 16 years has had a top 10 defense in takeways.. spags 4

If our scheme is flawed so is spags lol

Sean McDermott has numbers that are as consistent is everybody in a league of turnover.. 14 out of 16 seasons top 10 is takeaways is world class

We just haven't had the dogs in February when it mattered usually.. even in our last playoff game we lost our best cover corner and had to put out a bum

We never could just stay healthy for one game

Who cares about regular season???  How's our D in the playoffs?

All this tells me is the Chiefs are playing chess while we are playing checkers.

We should be showing the Chiefs nothing of value in the regular season, or at the very least, plan B.  Use the regular season to setup the offseason.

Even the 4th down play was the Chiefs sending a different pressure than we’d seen all game.  Meanwhile, we ran the same stuff repeatedly.

This is the difference in the games.  They are one step ahead of us.

You just summed up my problem with McDermott.

The more injuries you have the more creative you should be.  Cb blitzes, major risk taking should be considered.   Not what we get , especially on defense.

i would even be happy if he just develops into an adequate starter or even the Safety 3 role  in 2026 … I suspect that Washington might have kept him on a minimum deal if he was giving off Hyde/Poyer vibes ..

We are best at developing dbs and safeties.  (I'll know I'm wrong if we draft a safety high lol)

We are not getting to the Graham and Carter range. We just aren't. So let's leave that to the side for now.... who are the guys that "fill" this draft and match our needs that you would want the Bills to consider trading up for in say the teens or the early 20s? Because that is a realistic conversation to have.

You think we have to move up to get K Grant if he's a major target?

A trade is imminent. we’re not keeping 10 rookies. We could trade out to later draft that’s a possibility or we could take a big swing and try to go get the missing piece. That’s my stance and I hope we do it.

I think this is accurate.   If Beane views this draft as weak we may trade back to next year.   Honestly it's smart if that's an accurate assessment of the draft.

  12. People seem pretty split I think on who is more to blame for not having a title.   Seems like it's close to consensus that we have top 3rd of the league coach and gm.

I still lean mcd as more at fault,  though it's close.  I just don't think he has the creativity at the end of the day to take out top coaches and overall his DEF has been putrid in the playoffs.  But I see the other side.  We lack elite playmakers.   That's on Beane.

See I think Von is a good example of Beane NOT taking risks.

Beane could have traded for Von 5 months prior when the Rams got him. But Beane didnt want to give up the 2nd round pick. THAT would have been a risk.

What happened? Rams trade for him and they win the Super Bowl. We needed ONE stop against Mahomes that year and I think Von probably provides that (he was still elite at the time).

Instead, Beane didnt take the risk of the 2nd round pick and instead took the safer route of signing him in the offseason.

Ok, very fair take.  Probably correct in hindsight.

iMO Beane's biggest downfall is his unwillingness to take big chances. You look at Roseman and how he went out and traded for his number 1 WR and spent big bucks to sign a star RB.

I agree.   He does take risks, like with Von, but he's less apt to try for the risky moves.
