For all the critics, who are you hiring to get over the top? Specifically a name. When approached, no one ever seems to have the answer.
For me, I only make the move if someone great is available. I'm sure some would roast this but 2 I would have likely made change for are Belichik and Ben Johnson.
I think Josh is the best NFL qb. Not winning a sb would be a travesty. mcd is a good coach. But on the strategy side he is lacking. A defensive coach whose defense costs us almost every year.

Two types of people:
1. Takes chances to better themself understanding the risk of failure is there. Can live with failing but can’t live with not trying.
2. Quietly molder with the status quo while talking themselves into liking it* because it’s safe.talking themselves into liking it:
All sorts of excuses, same ones over and over, each year.
Go back to the threads after 13 seconds and see the same excuses
or after Bengals, or any KC playoff loss.
Some coaches are really good but will never be great. McD is one such coach.
Wasting Josh’s prime on him is a fools errandYeah this sums up my greatest fear with this team. I just don't think he's creative enough. I know on TV he'll get his balls washed by announcers about being a defensive genius but push comes to shove the great offensive minds in the playoffs toy with him.
It's a lot for Josh to overcome.

What's the definition of insanity? McDs defense overall in the playoffs is bad. If we lose before the superbowl again he should go, assuming there is a stud coach we can bring in.

His name sounds like a made up madden name. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen it years ago.

We have a speedster to cover him now.

If he retired right now there's a small chance he'd already make it. He has lots of records already.

My word that Ravens secondary is stacked.
The team is stacked. What's their weakness right now?

We can just dance around the true issues as much as we want but it’s truly pointless. The issue has been the same for 7 full years. Outside of the Jags playoff loss. Always the same. The defensive coaching needs to step up. The defense needs a philosophical overhaul to something more aggressive and less predictable. Making stops. That’s how it happens. Not praying for turnovers. Not watching good QBs absolutely shred us on every 3rd down. The defensive coaching needs to step up. That’s the whole answer
Love this post. There are other ways to win but this is most simple. Our defense making plays with mcds current scheme is another way. Need some rookies to be more than jags.

If he requires top tier QB play then by definition, he's not a superstar.
He can't throw the ball to himself. Only Chuck Norris and Josh Allen can do that.

I think a lot of gms disagree with that. I'm not sure myself. With top tier qb play does that change his game? I think likely yes, question is by how much. If you're a gm and think he is a superstar just waiting for a good qb, you try and make it work.
-
My opinion is if you have the chance for a potential superstar on the cheap, you try and do it. We can make the cap work.

I do find it fascinating that someone like Tuel who is still a young man is now in this very corporate job, going to an office, wearing a suit, and he can sit there and say he started an NFL game. A great ice breaker for team building days.
This is true, and he's probably a pretty big guy standing beside someone that's average. Seeing him on TV playing football he seemed tiny though.
-
Jeff Tuel was one of the few guys that you just looked at and thought, "That mofo ain't a football player". God I can't wait for the season to start, I'm sitting here commenting on Jeff freaking Tuel.
Whose next? Aaron Maybin? Quarterback cravin.

Our current surface is turf so there won't be mud. If the game was in Baltimore, where they have natural grass, then your statement would make sense because natural grass grows on dirt. When dirt gets wet, it turns into mud.
So since this is a home game, there is a possibility they stomp us but it won't be in mud. "Curb stomp" wouldn't apply either because there isn't any curbs on the field.
I encourage you to use another phrase more applicable.
The steps in the stadium can be used in lieu of a traditional curb.

F that lol, jets would be perfect. I think we lose week 1. If our defense is actually revamped and for real, maybe we can pull out a win. But I have a bad feeling Henry is going get 20 plus touches for a crapload of yards. Hope I'm wrong and we crush them of course. Ravens definitely started slow last year so who knows.

Having to declare it before a trailing team uses it relegates it to nothing more than a desperation play, like a Hail Mary. They need to find a way of making it useable again without restriction, or eliminate it altogether. It used to be part of the game strategy, now it's a perfunctory thing to do in a 1 score game before the trailing team ultimately loses.
They should just do like one 4th down play to get 15 yards or something like that.

He can coffin corner the kick or it would have to come to a rolling stop. Anything short of the 5 or in the endzone is a failed attempt. Would be exciting to watch and make the punter more meaningful at least.
I feel like it'd have too high a success rate.

Goff has been a FF point dream
Because the team around him is sick. Best RB tandem in the league, great receivers, great TE's, excellent o line with aggressive offensive coaching. Wouldn't be a shock if they won it all in this upcoming season.

I get it but I’ve seen enough off script plays from him where I think he’s a little bit more than just a good system quarterback. I’d take him above Tua, Love, or Lawrence if forced to pick. He has a high floor and can win with him at that salary if you consistently nail the draft.
I dont see it but its possible. I figured they'd do a mini rebuild after losing so many guys this year but it doesn't seem like that's their plan.

FWIW with Purdy. He's an above average starting QB and this contract won't look as bad a couple of years from now imo.
It's not just the yearly cap, it's the 5 year term. Locking in to a guy whose at best above average is crazy to me. I get a 2 year deal for high money but more is insane to me. I am blown away that they did this.
-
This is insane to me. Lynch is gonna get fired over this. He's at BEST like 10th-12th best qb in the league. Sf might make the playoffs this year purely based on having an easy schedule but man they shot themselves in the foot.

Behave. He isn't calling out the MVP. He is doing exactly the opposite. He is saying that guy's the best so that's the one I wanna get.
You have to be seriously sensitive to have a problem with this.
I didn't read it like he had a problem with it. Who knows though, maybe this guy will be some sort of epic trash talker? We will see.

They want Rodgers. They wouldn't even be considering that if they weren't in win-now mode. They have a lot of aging veterans, and just traded for Metcalf. Admittedly it's a weird state they're in with the QB. If they can't get Rodger, I'd expect them to make a run at Cousins, or perhaps they'll talk to Tannehill.
Maybe, but I cannot see a team being that delusional. Arod from 5 years ago might make them a contender. I think it's more likely they're finally realizing they gotta bottom out. We'll see. Maybe they got DK to have a good wr to be ready for a good rookie qb next year? That sounds odd too. Weird situation. Qb hell.

Some are misinterpreting this. He's saying Josh is a unicorn. Not just a great qb but someone defenses have to game plan against like a receiver or rb for his other abilities. He wasn't putting Burrow down, he just doesn't have that option to make plays with his legs.
