    This post is hysterical.

“Tre White is a JAG except for a few above average seasons.”

    Well, let’s see:

Tre has only 7 seasons in the NFL.

He has been hurt and missed large portions of 3 of them. And as you said “injuries aside.”

So, looking at the other 4:

    Second in DROY voting

    Fifth in DPOY voting

    First team All Pro

    Second team All Pro

    2x ProBowl.

A JAG when he wasn’t an All-Pro. Got it.

These troll attempts are so low effort.

That the point...he's been injured nearly half his time here, and before that only had a few good years (albeit overrated).

A true championship caliber organization knows when to move on and this has been a big problem with this regime and why I fear they won't do the obvious.

  2. The problem I have with this whole premise is that people are acting like White is/was a star player for this team.

And injuries aside, quite frankly he's been one of the biggest problems with this regime and why this team has never been able to win in the playoffs when it matters.

The harsh reality is that White is pretty much a JAG outside of a few above average type of seasons. So this is why it should be a no brainer to move on from him as soon as possible and not even leave the door open for him to be on this team in 2024.

  3. I think this game other night proved definitively it's fixed and probably a dream scenario for the NFL to finally showcase it in the biggest game of them all.

The 49ers scored first, albeit a field goal...and the Chiefs scored the TD which won the game and prevented the 49ers from having a chance to touch the ball again and need just another FG to win.

If I was Pegula I would put strict limitations on McD’s role in drafting players & signing free agents. I will give McD a pass on his decision not to draft Mahomes (which Pegula wanted to do). But draft decisions since then reflect a defensive minded bent, and have negatively impacted Alllen’s career. In an era where you can get a quality RB anywhere, we used (wasted)  two third round picks and one second round pick on running backs, two of whom no longer play for Bills. Imagine if those three picks had been used on wide receivers. It’s a good bet that at least one of those WRs would have developed into that field stretching quality threat that Allen so desperately needs. Bills O faced man to man coverages more than any other team in the league - our WRs can’t separate consistently.

Then there’s the recent draft where TWO defensive ends were taken in rounds 1 and 2. Huge free agent signing -Miller - defense. And DB Elam with a round one pick. So running backs (to ensure a strong ground game) and multiple picks and signings of defensive assets. A defensive coach’s dream!! But that’s not NFL 2024. Even with all these assets being devoted to defense, it’s been the defense which has repeatedly failed in the playoffs. Stop wasting Allen’s career, give him the weapons he needs and deserves, and let’s go outscore everybody. Step one, keep McD’s role in talent acquisition to a bare minimum. He has earned that

I'm pretty sure most fans agree with this, but who expects that to honestly change? If McDivisional can still have a job after trading Mahomes to the guy that fired him during his very first draft here, why wouldn't he still wield serious influence on all draft and FA decisions?

The sad reality is after watching the Chiefs defense carry them to another championship this year and teams like the Ravens and 49ers also play them down to the wire because of their respective strength on that side of the ball, I can almost guarantee that this draft (and what FA money is going to be there) is going to be defense heavy yet again especially since that's where most of the expected roster turnover is coming from.

  5. 5 years from now Josh Allen will be out of the league and/or a shell of himself like Cam Newton and it will be dark days for many years again as Bills fans continue to watch Mahomes and the Chiefs rack up the Lombardis and realize the true impact of the events of the 2017 draft.

  6. One of the biggest criticisms I've had with Beane is that he's made some very poor extensions, especially in the case of Bass, Knox, etc because there's virtually no way for this team to get out of these deals now.

I guess with Bass you still have to give him the benefit of the doubt since it's only one bad season. Also I still don't blame him for missing a game tying field goal because it should have never happened and a real head coach would have known that you had to go for that 4th down in those circumstances because even if Bass ties the game, Mahomes and the Chiefs just make a few plays to get in FG range to win it anyway, with tons of time left on the clock.

In whatever place these freakozoid athletes get to mentally, Allen has no choice but to get there with them. Jordan has it, Tiger has it, Nicklaus had it, Brady and Montana had it. I’m sure Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio had it. Recently, all three Tennis greats have it.

It’s all upstairs. There are ways we can tell that a great one has the instinct for winning championships. It’s how they talk, what they say, what they believe is happening, and how they lead the situation to reach the top — total belief in yourself to be the reason your team wins championships.

Athletes are insanely confident individuals. Even proven competent pros think they’re the very best at what they do, when they’re clearly not, usually because of physical limitations.

Allen has the physical talent to be in the historical sports best-of-the-best group, so he’ll have to find that mental place that gets him there. His, focus, concentration, and determination needs improvement.

The only way you are going to beat the Chiefs and Mahomes in a postseason game is either in a blowout like the TB/Brady superbowl (not realistically ever happening again) or you ensure you  have the ball in your hand on the final drive of the game when trailing or tied like Mahomes did the other night against the 49ers. This is also how Brady and the Pats did in 2018 and Bengals in 2021 before the playoff OT rule changes handing them their only other playoff losses during this run.

Of course many will already point out that Allen has done this once (13 seconds), and should have done it again this year in the playoffs going for it on 4th down instead of attempting a FG that would have just tied the game but there's really no need to overthink this. But again it magnifies the need for a coaching change if anything.

  8. The White debate is interesting because as many know he was this regimes first draft pick, and of course will always be tied to the infamous trade with KC for Mahomes since we took him in the spot the Chiefs were supposed to draft at.

So obviously for McDivisional there is going to be some strong emotion there. But I think at this point everyone would agree that there's zero chance he's coming back here with the current contract as is. I think you have to be realistic about what he can even offer this year coming off another major injury and he wasn't of any use to this team in 2022 when he played and you have to expect similar results at best in 2024.

If it was up to me I'd simply realize it's time to move and cut him, but maybe both sides agree to some sort of restructure that saves even more money on the cap and still rewards White to essentially be ultimately be released between now and the starter of the 2024 season.

  9. Spencer Brown and Bernard are 2 guys most of of the armchair GM crowd were completely wrong about.

I think he's long term answer at RT but still want to see another full season. The sneakier move this offseason is looking for an upgrade/replacement for Morse at center and finding our own Creed Humprey type (who also ultimately replaced Morse after he left KC and they had mixed results with other players)

  10. I think it would make too much sense to hire an offensive minded head who has proven he can take a team to the superbowl. And it some ways it feels like we'd be getting our Andy Reid this time around because he'd finally be paired with a true franchise QB and top 10 NFL player in Allen.

But not going to like, if the Bills do move on from McDivisional after the 2024 season and Belichik is still out there and wants to coach I just can't pass up taking a guy whose been to a combined 11 superbowls and won 8 of them as a head coach and assistant. Defense does still matter and that's never been a problem with him even post Brady in Foxboro. So take a Belichik defense + Josh Allen and I think you do have a formula to beat Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs and win a championship or 2 in the near term since it obviously wouldn't be a long term proposition given Belichik's age and probably 3 or 4 year window at best.

Hope he leaves the Chiefs .. but I’ll believe it when it happens

Same but I do think the chances are very high he's played his last game as a Chief because he's made it clear he wants to be the highest paid defensive player in NFL history and he's turning 30 in the offseason so this is his one and only big shot and grabbing the bag so to speak. And quite frankly he's not just another name, he has the resume and showed up big time this year and in the playoffs when it mattered most.

Chiefs would have to franchise him to stay which means Jones could just sit out and then do nothing when he finally is forced to play out the rest of the season so he can be an UFA again in 2025. I don't think he has any interest in making history with a 3peat and all that.

  12. Hilarious with the 'I still hate the Patriots and always will' responses.

Um hello, the Chiefs have a guy that should have been a Buffalo Bill, have ended their super bowl dreams 3 out of the last 4 years in the playoffs, and are still just getting started in terms of the heights Mahomes and that franchise are going to reach in the coming years.

Trust me, if you don't hate the Chiefs now wait until next year at this time when they are the first team in NFL history to 3peat and/or go 20-0 on the season. You ain't seen nothing yet.....

I know they just won the Super Bowl, but Dayum, how many KC topics can a Buffalo Bills Message Board handle without needing a name change to two chiefs drive?

I mean what else is there to talk about right now given the circumstances?

Denial has turned into acceptance and it's a ***** reality quite frankly knowing that even if the Bills make a coaching change in the next few years it still might not matter as we are now living in the Chiefs dynasty period that is really still near the beginning of another 10 year minimum run which is vomit inducing in itself.

I am hopeful this thread avoids discussions of specific coaching or players.

Here are some facts that are not in dispute:

    1. The Bills have had more regular season success than virtually any other NFL team in the last 5 years.
    2. The Bills have not translated the regular season succes into deep playoff runs

Here is a commonly held opinions:

    1. Playoff football is different than regular season football.  (I am personally on the fence on whether or not this is true)

For purposes of this thread discussion I would like to stipulate that Playoff Football IS different than regular season football.  Here is the question:

Are their any significant football strategic changes that could be made, that would result in playing better "Playoff Football"? If so what are those changes?

Alternatively, its fine to respond "flawed premise, the gap between playoff success and regular season success is because the Bills are less talented, or unluckier than the teams that win the Super Bowl"

Relevant to the Bills,  the big issue that still needs to be addressed IMO is playing consistent football over the course of a 17 game regular season.

Because I believe that's a big reason why they've failed in the playoffs is they always seem to have a midseason lull where they almost look disinterested in being on the field for weeks at a time. Yes they've been able to 'turn on the switch' so to speak in November/December to ensure they secure a spot in the playoffs, but not the next level one like the Chiefs have in the postseason.

And speaking of the Chiefs and the regular season vs playoff debate, ironically they are now at the point where the regular season truly don't matter for them. From here on out their real season begins in January. Obviously they have to keep making in into the tourney but it's no longer a question of having to secure the #1 seed and homefield througout, they know they are going to win wherever the game is held regardless of the opponent.

Holy smokes this is painful to read.

The Bills had pick 10. They traded it to the Chiefs. The Chiefs selected Mahomes. Mahomes went to a team with Hill, Kelce, Chris Jones and coached by Andy Reid. They were a maxed out first or second round playoff team prior to that. We GAVE them the missing piece for their dynasty. And Patrick Mahomes has gone to the AFCCG 6 straight seasons, and won 3 Superbowls, and knocked the Bills out of the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years.

I’m not forgetting about Dawkins or Milano or whatever the heck you are talking about. I’m not cherry-picking, because there’s nothing to cherry pick. If you want to say the trade was worth it because we also drafted Dawkins or traded for Diggs in 2020 or whatever the hell you are trying to say, more power to you. I prefer winning Superbowls so to me, the trade was definitively NOT worth it.

Any Bills fan that wouldn't trade Allen for Mahome straight up right now, or go back in time and reverse the events of the 2017 draft is delusional, or even trolling at this point. And again, it's not a knock on Allen at all for obvious reasons. But to say Dawkins, Milano, White, etc were getting over Mahomes is also hilarious.

I do believe in fate and destiny and after 17 straight years of failure, what might be the best player in NFL history when it's all said and done, fell right into the Bills lap that year and of course they punted and traded the pick away. You simply can't make this stuff up and if the Bills are really cursed this sealed their fate for eternity.

  16. 43 minutes ago, Bills Bud said:

Is the killer mentality. The same mentality the Patriots had. We all know Brady and Belichick yelled, got in players faces. I would like to see more of that, especially from Allen… cause I view McDermott as soft. I don’t think I ever seen Allen yell at an offensive lineman or WR. Allen is just as talented as Mahomes, but doesn’t have the killer mentality…yet.

People are talking what happened with Kelce and Reid, which didn’t bother me at all. Let’s not forget Reid bumped Kelce a little while back. It’s football it’s a man’s game. I think the yelling and getting in players faces is a balance, and should mainly come from the QB and coach as they are the leaders of the team. Mahomes really gave it to Rashed Rice on the sidelines during the Super Bowl too.

Maybe in today’s soft society that is frowned upon… but if you want rings you got to have it and obviously important only to keep that on the field. Every great has had that mentality. If you didn’t see the Last Dance about Jordan, give it a watch. He was brutal on a lot of his teammates. Count the rings though, cause that’s what it all comes down to in sport.

Excellent post and one of many things that separates the truly elite players in the NFL (and pro sports in general). It's kill or be killed in a real mans world.

This why I keep talking about finding a true 'war time' head coach to replace McDivisional. I think with Allen he has this ability but it probably gets lost in the shuffle and it has to be very frustrating knowing that if another player or two besides him can ever show up in the playoffs, he actually might win a playoff game against Mahomes.

  17. Personally I still think a lot of Bills fans hatred against the Patriots dynasty is misled because of the fact they were in the same division.

But like I've said before, it's not like Brady and Patriots were standing in the way of a team that had a franchise QB and loaded roster. The Bills were trash pretty much all those years with the exception of a few where they were close to the wildcard or made it as that type of team (2004,2014,2017,2019 best I can think of).

The bigger issue with the Chiefs is they are in fact standing in the way of a Bills team who has a franchise QB, and at least during this first window (which has now officially ended) had a roster most considered championship caliber.

So if you are asking me about rating hatred.....it's not even close between the Chiefs and Patriots dynasties, especially since one of them is just getting started and already ended what might have been the best chance this franchise ever has winning a superbowl 3 times in 4 years in the playoffs.

    Shanahan is better.

But....after seeing him screw up so many big games, who is to say he suddenly changes as our HC?

Now...maybe Allen overrides his dumb calls and takes over himself.

    But idk...

I just look at the eye test....and yes Shanahan has made some ridiculously questionable coaching decisions but if this guy can get to 2 superbowls and nearly win them with the likes of Jimmy G and Purdy just think of what he'd do here with JA17.

And again, if the argument is that Sean McDivisional is a top 10-15 head coach in this league at best (which mine is and always will be) that means there's more than a few guys out there that could do better....shanahan just being one of them.

  19. Would be a wet dream come true for Bills fans but not possible.

Even though the Chiefs are projected to have a lot more money than the Bills they also aren't likely going to be able to keep him for obvious reasons....because Jones is about to become the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. Just hope he goes to a team that doesn't have the greatest HC or QB, but as long as he leaves KC it's a start...

  20. 4 minutes ago, Billsfanatic8989 said:

I think he would be the best OC in the game. A HC is responsible for alot more though.

He is definitely overrated. I wouldn't want him as Bills HC.

This is the exact reason why this franchise is never going to win anything, especially if Terry Pegula believe McDivisional and Shannahan are one in the same or McD is actually better....

I watched until the niners punted after intercepting mahomes to start the second half. The game was over for them at that point imo.

every team the chiefs played in the playoffs completely or partially folded against them. I guess that’s another way of saying they have superior coaching 🤷‍♂️.

It's exactly what teams did the greater part of 20 years against Brady and the Patriots which is why this act is already tiring with the Chiefs...but sadly they are still early on in this thing and just getting started which is why there's going to be very little enthusiasm watching the NFL as a whole the next 10-15 years.

It's going to be interesting to watch the Chiefs and Chargers play now that LAC has Harbaugh. He can build a winner and the Chargers have talent. At the very least KC won't be an automatic division winner anymore.

No but I'm sure getting into the playoffs as a wildcard will be the next chip on the chiefs collective shoulders and narrative they'll kill instantly.

I do agree at some point though they'll face a real threat in their division but might not be right away next year since the Chargers are also facing a pending roster purge and reset because of the salary cap and new coaches/schemes that will be implemented.

  23. Obviously if the Chiefs would have lost this would be a much bigger issue and all the sports world would be talking about right now.

But they didn't and nobody is going to care about it a few days when the Chiefs are parading yet another Lombardi through the KC metro area.

  24. Like I just said in another thread.....best GM in the NFL and all pro sports right now.

And not there's much of a chance of derailing the Chiefs dynasty anytime soon, as long as this guy is there and keeps draft all pros vs. solid starters and role players like the Bills and pretty much every other NFL team there's next to zero chance of the Chiefs crumbling.

Can't wait to see him replace Chris Jones and Kelce with even better players in the coming years....

Your argument is dumb. The 49ers are in the NFC. Of course he can get to the Superbowl in the NFC. Who does he have to contend with over there?

Also, the "what if" scenarios about switching coaches and switching QB's as proof of anything is completely stupid. Nobody knows how those scenarios would pan out. It is useless to bring them up all the time like you and others do. It does not support any argument.

I get the point about the 49ers being in the NFC, but the fact remains that Shanahan is an offensive coach that has actually excelled in that area even though you can make the argument his defenses have been the main reason they've had a lot of success in the NFC going back to 2019 including 4 trips to the NFCCG and 2 Super Bowl appearances.

McDivisional on the other hand is a defensive head coach, whose defenses have come up as small as possible when it actually matters. And the big difference with him is the only reason he's had success is because of JA17. Again take him out of the equation and give him marginal starters or game manager types like SF has had and the results aren't going to be shocking and it's delusional to think McDivisional would have a job right now or anywhere close to the record he's had without Allen...theres are just facts.
