Our superbowl will come. If there was an NFL QB Mount Rushmore it would be

    Tom Brady

    Peyton Manning

    Patrick Mahomes

    Josh Allen

In no particular order. Enjoy it. Through our years of suffering we finally landed our generational talent. We just need to stop screwing it up and get him receivers to throw to.

Let's be serious here, yes JA17 is special but he's nowhere close in the conversation with the other 3 QB's mentioned.....and there are many more well ahead of him in that discussion, way too many to even count quite frankly.

  2. You get the sense that JA17 is going to be this generations Marino.

A special talent that will never win a championship, in this case not because of a dominant NFC conference/better team in his own division..... but because of the best player in NFL standing in his way.

But getting back to Marino, I think many fans take for granted just how great he was in an era that was not built around complex, high flying passes offense like we see in today's NFL.

The Bills should have manned up and admited they treated this guy like trash due to public opinion.  And tried to resign him, of course, no way is he coming back to this organization.  A real lowlight for the current managementimho.   Innocent until proven guilty is the American way I hope.

Unfortunately this is just one of many miscues by this regime.

2024 will be a true year of reckoning sadly for Beane and McDivisional and hopefully the Pegulas finally take action before it's too late.

  4. The Dolphins are in a similar terrible cap situation like the Bills but don't even have a division title to show for it.

Lot of pressure in south beach to navigate a tough situation and finally break through the AFC East next year. And they might just finally be able to do it since the Bills are likely going to take a big step backward with their own salary cap mess to work through.

  5. If JA17 never wins a superbowl in Buffalo this will go down as the worst trade in NFL (and quite frankly pro sports) history. Sean McDivisional will also be the most hated figure in Buffalo sports history as well.

I still can't fathom how you make this trade with the guy who fired you in the first place especially after 17 long years of misery and a guy like this falls right into Buffalo's lap. It was destiny, fate and every other cliche you can look for.

The Chiefs should have been us period. And now we get to watch them play for and win many more superbowls in the years to come.

  6. I'm still not sure this helps the Bills and other teams in a rough salary cap situation right now. If anything, you are going to see some truly absurd deals thrown around for marginal FA's like Gabe Davis and AJE. And any restructure to free up cap space means you are paying even more money per year to your own guys (i.e. Josh Allen).

If it does help the Bills it will be inadvertently with some of KC's stars like Sneed and Jones getting record deals from other teams that the Chiefs simply won't be able to match if money is more important than the 3peat/dynasty (and it usually is). Bengals and Ravens also have a lot of key free agents to monitor as well.

  7. This is no real surprise considering the Chiefs have a history of signing guys with red flags and baggage....which also proves that 'lockerroom culture' doesn't really matter when you have the right head coach, QB, etc.

Obviously in Araiza's case he appears to be cleared of wrong doing and knowing the Bills luck he's going to be an all pro punter for the next decade in KC.

  8. This has been discussed in other threads, but the main problem I see here is why any of these guys are going to choose Buffalo to sign with on the cheap when there are going to be much better options elsewhere.

And even if you take the obvious out of the equation with the Chiefs, you can argue the Bengals, Ravens, and a plethora of NFC teams are going to be better options for most championship hungry veterans because most are going to understand the Bills have no path to a championship if anything because of the head coach situation.

  9. These threads are always interesting to revisit, but in hindsight talk about what might be the worst deal of Beane's tenure in Buffalo.

Even if you consider Kincaid more of a slot WR type of player, there's no justification for Knox to be paid this type of money at the TE position given his production. He also still has serious problems with catching the ball and staying healthy.

Best case is that he agrees to a contract restructure that allows him to be traded or released but that's always easier said than done.

It’s funny how each off-season fans talk about how they can’t wait to get x, y and z back. This was the same thing before last season even started. What makes anyone think that next season we aren’t going to lose a few important starters at some point? Most teams do. Yes, we did have it worse than most these past couple of seasons due to the fact injuries would accumulate at the same position groups making them harder to overcome, but we can’t just assume the starters at the beginning of the year will be the starters at the end of the year, because they won’t.

there is only one Kansas City (aka teams that do not lose critical pieces at critical stages of the season)

This is just it, regardless what this 53 man roster looks like heading into the start of next season....there's likely going to be key injuries again in terms of both season ending and short term variety. It's just the way things work.

And I don't dispute the fact that this team has been unlucky in that area in recent years, but maybe it's time to look at the training staff as one solution. But to the best of my knowledge they haven't changed anything on that front.

Also regarding the Chiefs, I've pointed this out and agree....but they did lose Joe Thuney for the AFCCG and Superbowl (a big time injury) and obviously that didn't stop them from being the first team in 20 years to repeat as world champs.

  11. Just thinking more about Groot and this dline as a whole, the fact that this GM and defensive minded head coach has never drafted a player that has managed double digits sacks in a season has me dumbfounded. Yes Floyd did it this year as a FA (despite next to nothing the 2nd half of the season and playoffs) and Miller was certainly on pace for it before his injury in 2022, but all these other draft picks really haven't come close except for Oliver this year.

And that's what scares me most about the draft this year because I'm willing to bet they go dline once again in the first round despite all the talk about WR and other areas of need.

  12. I would have fired McDivisional after 13 seconds and have said as much since being here and on social media. You don't come back from that and this year in the playoffs validated that if there was any doubt left....which is why I would have also fired him without thinking twice about it a few weeks ago after losing to the Chiefs for the 3rd time in 4 years and this time in front of your home fans.

But apparently because this owner actually must believe coaching isn't the issue and buys all the excuses some of the fans do (i.e. injuries) we are going to keep having this conversation until JA17's prime has passed, retires early, plays elsewhere, etc.

HA. So the innuendo gets dropped at the end of your post so slightly dissing the Bills.  I see you hombre . We will just see about this next season. I wish it were my team celebrating a super bowl win. So I get it but the shade was there and Im not having it go unnoticed at MY bills board. 🙂

There's no legit veteran FA out there that is going to choose Buffalo over KC if they are looking to win a championship and take less money especially in an offseason where they are gearing up to make history and will be the prohibitive favorite to win a 3rd straight championship. And I think that applies to the Bengals as well because they are the only team in the AFC that can claim a playoff victory over the Chiefs with a healthy Joe Burrow, and the only team that has a chance to stop the Chiefs next season.

  14. It's always hypothetical if/when/but/etc with this team.

If we would have had a competent coach that understood the game wasn't over with 13 seconds left on the clock in the playoffs apparently the Bills would have won the superbowl in 2021 despite the fact that the Bengals and Rams would still have been left to play.

If we magically had a 100% healthy roster the last 2 years in the playoffs we would have also won the superbowl, despite the fact that there is probably no team in NFL history that has won a championship under those circumstances including the Chiefs who were without several key players, including an all pro guard in the AFFCG and SB.

But to the point of this thread, no this was not the best team in the NFL if most of the players in question weren't injured. We've seen a 100% healthy milano and white in the playoffs and they've done absolutely nothing against the Chiefs too just like all the other paper tigers this year in the postseason sans JA17.

  15. Apparently PFF had Rousseau graded out as the best DE in the playoffs overall, but that's still a bit misleading since he only played in 2 postseason games.

But at the end of the day it still comes down to making impact plays and like most of the players on that side of the ball he's come up woefully short.

Injuries and being able to consistently rush the passer has ultimately been his downfall so far in Groot's NFL career.

  16. I think the handwriting has been on the wall for some time that Davis has played his last game in Buffalo, especially after the shouting match with fans in the playoff loss against the Chiefs.

He'll definitely get a bag from someone and even if he were to accept lessor money to chase a ring I can see that being with the Chiefs ironically, or the Bengals since both are obviously in better position to compete for that compared to the Bills.

  17. I picked Burrow and the Bengals to win the SB last year but obviously that changed once Burrow was hurt in the preseason and then hurt again later ultimately ending his season.

And right now I think that's the obvious pick next year in terms of having any chance of stopping history with Chiefs 3peat because they have proven they can not only beat KC in the regular season like the Bills have, but more importantly do it in the playoffs with a defensive coordinator and scheme that also performs in the postseason.

Outside of the Bengals, I'm not sure there is anyone in the NFL currently ready to topple the Chiefs dynasty which is a scary thought thinking about how many more straight years they might dominate the AFC and NFL as a whole assuming the aforementioned can't do it in 2024. A 3peat very well might be a 4peat, 5peat, 6peat, etc especially as the best GM in the NFL keeps nailing the draft year after year.

There are no windows.  There just are seasons.  Every season is an opportunity to win the Super Bowl when you have a great QB.

Before we talk any more about windows, I invite someone to analyze the seasons when Tom Brady was the QB for the Patriots and explain when their first window opened and closed, their second window opened and closed, etc.  Belichick went 5-11 in his first season there; after that, he didn't have a losing season with Brady, and he had only one season when he didn't have double-digit wins.   Their window was always open.

How about the Chiefs?   They've had plenty of roster turnover.  When was the window closed?

When you have the right HC/QB combination your argument is 100% valid, it's why the Patriots did what they did the greater part of 20 years in this league and why the Chiefs are likely going to replicate or exceed that in the next 10-15 years albeit with some caveats I'll touch on shortly.

With Brady and the Patriots It's worth noting though that after their 3rd superbowl in 2004 they went a decade without winning another one despite having that super team in 2007 that was a fluke play away from going undefeated and winning another one. Then the following year Brady got hurt in week one and they missed the playoffs the only time during that regime despite going 11-5 that year with a backup. By the time Patriots starting winning championships again in 2014 they had a new core group of guys including Gronk who is only rivaled by Kelce as the greatest TE in NFL history.

The Chiefs are in a similar boat and trajectory right now but obviously Mahomes is going to be playing with a different head coach at some point down the road and will have to find a new set of core guys post Chris Jones, Kelce, etc. And even if the believe that Mahomes is the GOAT and it's a formality he exceeds Brady's resume, so much can change in the coming years including but not limited to a freak injury derailing things, losing interest/passion, retiring early, etc.

But getting back to the Bills, this team obviously has the right QB but not the right head coach and why the next window does apply here and likely won't be open until the next head coach arrives here, assuming that day comes and it's the right guy to begin with.

Because the regular season and playoffs are truly a different animal.

And aside from Josh Allen, we have a roster full of guys that seem to shine in the regular season but not the playoffs. Same thing with McDivisional to his credit, easy to beat up on what has been a very poor division after Brady left NE and play all these regular season superbowl games against the Chiefs but only win against marginal NFL starters and backups in playoff games.

But again there's a distinct reason why this team has not been able to beat the Chiefs (and Bengals) in the postseason.

  20. It's not the new norm until we see multiple guys play well into their 40's, compete and a high level and most importantly win championships This one of many reasons Brady is still the unquestioned GOAT is because of what he did in his late 30's and well into his 40's. And most will tell you he truly aged like fine wine and became much better later in his career vs early on in his 20's when he won the first 3 SB's.

And even though Mahomes is on pace to at worse match Brady, who knows if he's still as good 10 years from now. He may peak soon or already has...or simply isn't going to be blessed with the same health factors that enabled Brady to do what he did for so long. A freak injury could derail everything regardless.

The sad reality is we’re gonna try to draft the type of players that propelled kc to a championship and Baltimore to an afc championship and is also the side of the ball where the bulk of the players were losing are haha that’s a weird take to slap ‘sad reality’ in front of.

I wish they can have one of y’all be gm for a season and we can watch you run the franchise straight into the ground 😂. If we don’t draft a safety earlier in the draft we are absolute idiots and you will complain about the pick 100% lol

We literally lost the game in large part because we were missing two huge and recent great defensive picks

We weren't winning against the Chiefs even with a 100% healthy defense. Mahomes inevitably didn't care about the Ravens and 49ers who were pretty much 100% healthy in those games and vastly superior units across the board.

But back to the sad reality....McDivisional probably really believes his team lost because they weren't healthy on defense and will force Beane to waste draft picks on more marginal DE's that won't even do anything for this team as rookies anyway.
