  1. The debate over Josh v Watson makes me return to the question posted earlier in the thread - if a miracle happened and the opportunity was there would you straight swap Watson for Josh?

If Watson joins AFCE he joins AFCE. There’s no point bellyaching about it and we can’t do anything about it. Admittedly it would be annoying as it feels like we held the upper hand in the conference and suddenly there’d be another excellent Quarterback in our midsts but that’s what can happen in the NFL.

Strange to hear both Steve Tasker and Chris Brown just say now is not the time to sign Allen due to the cap. Both seem to act like it's unlikely it happens this offseason.

Thing is signing Josh this offseason shouldn't impact our cap next year.

Surely the only reason not to have Allen sign a new contract is if there’s a fear he’ll go the same way as Wentz?

  3. The defat is acceptable, the manner of it not. It was a worrying shambles and I do fear what it means for us moving forward as we seem miles off the Chiefs.

On the other hand... the Saints overturned the Bucs twice across the main season, one a blowout on their home patch. Come the play offs it was a different affair. That’s all I can hang on to at the moment.

Josh is the ONLY reason the bills were in the AFC championship game yesterday. You put an average QB, say Dalton, on this team and we don't even make the playoffs.

We are similar to the Packers in that a top QB was able to carry the team to the championship games, but the lack of talent elsewhere, and bad coaching, got exposed against the best.

Or, in the Packers case, the Bucs. 😀

I do think Josh had nerves yesterday and why shouldn't he? As already alluded to earlier in the thread, look what happened to Brady and Rodgers yesterday - two Quarterbacks with far more experience than Josh at the play offs. One threw three picks, the other failed miserably to take advantage and threw two of his own.

If he shows signs of this if/when we next make the play offs then maybe something deeper needs to be considered but my question is was anyone trying to help him yesterday? The offense was horrific and the coaching dire - we've expected Josh to pull us through time and time again and eventually that was never going to be enough. At this stage my fear for next season isn't Josh but other parts of the team.

I think its the younger fans that gloat, who have had success during the Reid years.  Those of us that have lived the heartbreak for much longer realize how special this time is and realize how frail success can be at times.   I look forward to the rivalry over the next decade.  Who would have thought 10 years ago that in the 2020's the AFC power teams would be the Chiefs, Bills and Browns!

It gives me confidence that you think there will be a rivalry despite yesterday but maybe that’s because everything is feeling slightly raw at the moment. ☺️

Chiefs fan here... I tried to get registered last week before the game and talk football, but just got my registration ok'd.  You guys are good and will most likely be the rival to the Chiefs for years to come with our young QBs.    Mahomes is the difference for the Chiefs, he's made Kelce and Hill better and just makes plays.  Hill, Kelce and ROY Kareem Hunt all played with Alex Smith and we were one and done in the playoffs in 2017.  Josh is also the difference and can make amazing plays, our game plan was to keep him in the pocket because he is dangerous when he gets outside of it.   Also, our secondary is very good and was getting better all year.   Sneed is an amazing rookie and Thornhill seems to be back to his old self the last month after last years ACL injury.   I think the crowd yesterday also had an effect as visiting teams haven't had to deal with noise, and it was noisy despite only 20% capacity.   Bottom line, you will be back and there will be  a Manning/Brady rivalry with Mahomes/Allen.   I think it's great that these two small market teams will  probably be the AFC  gateway for the next decade.

One last thing, I read a lot of Tyreek Hill myths on here.   The media quit reporting on Tyreek when it was found out his girlfriend was try to extort him with the claims he injured their son.   The entire audio and other evidence shows that she was lying not only about this, but probably about the incident in 2014 while she was pregnant.  There was no evidence in 2014, only a he said she said, and Tryeek was facing years in prison so plead so he could remain free and play football somewhere.   Tyreek has been a model citizen since he has been at KC, and he has CUSTODY of his kids, which should tell you all you need to know about the allegations.   Oh and the shove to that coach, was in jest, like a come on man I was open, and they were laughing 30 seconds later.

Thanks for not gloating. I’m hoping you’re right but the gap between the two teams stood out a mile last night which is a bit of a concern. I was ready for a defeat but not necessarily the comprehensive way it came about.

When did Romo say our receivers getting zero separation (he said that) led to Josh losing his confidence and "throwing INTs"?

    1) he threw one, not plural

    2) he didn't throw the INT due to lack of confidence, he threw it because he made a bad decision and perhaps was over-confident in Diggs

    3) there were sometimes open receivers he missed

But absolutely KC won because our defense couldn't stop their offense, or even slow them down

It was about 2.30 in the morning here but wasn’t the interception to Brown, who got both hands to it but deflected rather than caught it?

Josh is what 24?. Already back to back playoff seasons, a division championship, and two playoff wins. These experiences both the wins and losses in big games will serve him well going forward. The team is learning how to win and winning a championship is one of the hardest things to do. This was a great year for Josh and the team overall.

I guess, as someone who thinks Josh could become a future MVP/Hall of Famer, the age thing grates. Yes, he is 24 but at his age Mahomes was winning a Super Bowl.

Can you give some examples?  I'm honestly struggling to remember when Allen straight up missed a bunch of throws/reads.

My biggest issue with him was his taking massive sacks, but that's just a process of him trying to do too much when the team/season is crumbling around him.

He through too hard/high on a couple of occasions but that’s all I can think of. The sacks were worrying but he was trying to make plays out of nothing at that point. He improved on completions this season; hopefully he’ll improve on decision making in this offseason.

Allen's facemark was grasped last night, he was slapped in the head by a blitzing DB while in the pocket...no call on either.

    The Jones punch...no call.

Defensive holding/illegal contact....called once all game.

Why have rules if they are selectively enforced and not consistently applied?

Because the Mahomes v Brady Super Bowl was destiny. The Packers fans questioned a number of decisions against the Bucs too.  Saying that, I think if the game had been officiated fairly we still would have lost - it may have just been closer.

I'm torn but not really. Anyone rooting for another Brady SB ring needs to turn their Bills card in in all honesty.

Even if it was a non Brady NFC team (GB), I'd still much rather lose to the SB champion than try to mentally figure out how we beat the team we lost to and the SB champ.

I can’t cheer for the Chiefs. Their gamesmanship yesterday plus the arrogance of the fans (which will now just grow further) reminds me of the Pats era we’ve just come through.

The most ominous problem to me is how our amazing Offense essentially disappeared in the playoff games.   We may not be nearly as good next year folks.  Teams have figured Josh Out.  He's easily flustered.  The past 3 games He's given me lots of reasons to doubt him.  Josh may be a Carson Wentz.....

Teams figured Josh out because we only have one way of playing - we have no variation so we can be countered. I think the fact that we got to the AFC Championship game on a one dimensional game is something to be applauded in a way, rather than be fearful about.

Put Josh with Reid, Kelce, Hill, the KC O-Line and the Chiefs would have still won yesterday, even if we had Mahomes in return.
