I would think that if we can cram all 70k people into the stadium then we can tailgate as usual.....but then, they don’t make money off of the tailgate. Fingers crossed for the best there!

I hope to be at the home opener with the family, but if the tailgating is closed that changes our travel plans. I’d rather go to two “open” road games than my routine of the opener and a road game.

    Good thinking.

Any thoughts on the stadium experience?

    I would usually agree.

We havent been in this situation in a long time.....it is at the END of the 2nd round.  I dont think Shelvin makes it to our 3rd pick.

Would have no problem trading down from our 2nd to take him or moving up into the low 3rd to get him.

I just think these are the types of players we need.

I'm late to the party on this.  I just watched LSU v. Alabama 2019, full game.  Shelvin (matching up with future NFLers Leatherwood, Dickerson, D. Brown, and Jedrick Wills) was making big man plays.  Commanded double teams on nearly every run play, and required a chip on all passing downs.  Unless there are character or health concerns, I think he's just what we need and decent value for late 2nd.

That's ridiculous to list him first.  First of all, the Bills can part ways with him this year for a $4M cap hit.  Second they disagree with Overthecap on the guarantees, with B/R saying $15.25 ("more than half") of the contract guaranteed while OTC basically says we're free of guaranteed money after what was paid out last year, $13.25M ($4M signing bonus still on the books).

Second, while he didn't contribute as the Bills had hoped, he did play in 15 games + 3 playoffs and contribute 6 sacks, 9 QB hits, 4 passes defensed, a forced fumble, and 40 tackles.

That's actually better production than Beasley, Fowler, Clowney etc.

Still, not a good signing for Beane.  Hope he treats it as sunk cost and releases/restructures.

I know this guy has a lot of fans and it's a great comeback story if that's your thing. But I just don't get why a guy who had such a significant injury, who has made that much money, and who has a young family could think that playing on is a sensible decision.

He's not going to win a superbowl because he isn't good enough. I know that he has a great reputation as a mentor, but really? His comments seem really driven by ego and self-centered. I just don't get it. Most of all I hope he doesn't get badly hurt because he can't walk away.

I'd like to read these if you have sources.  I'm rooting for the guy, but if that's a bubble that needs to burst, so be it.

Good article in the Athletic (behind pay wall) about 22 former first round QB's and what happened to each of them and where they are now.    Some names barely even remember.  The one somewhat surprise to me was Mark Sanchez was drafted in 2009.  If you had asked me prior to reading I would have guessed it was 20 years ago.  Seems like he's been gone forever!

EJ Manual is one of the 22 BTW.  Surprised ole JP didn't make the list, guess they didn't want to go back quite that far.

Some interesting names in there:  kind of glad we passed on, or didn't get a chance to take, most of them (ie: Freeman, Ponder, Lynch).

It's really tough, but it needs to be managed.

My kid's freshman year in HS, her grades really plummeted, just couldn't seem to focus or get things done.  I made an appointment with the pediatrician to see if there were some medical issue - thyroid?  depression?  ADHD?

The ped obligingly did some tests and performed some workup.  When she called me with the results (all normal) she said "I'm talking to you as a fellow parent here.  Take the electronics out of the bedroom.  Have her do her homework on the computer in the core of the house, wherever you are, so you can keep an eye on whether it's homework or chat apps and games.  Then call me back in a month and let me know what happens."  We didn't prohibit games and chat, we just said work for 20-30 minutes then take a 10 minute break, or finish one subject then take a break.

Smart woman, that ped.  Grades picked right back up.  A year and a half later, kid said "I was really pissed off at the time, but you did the right thing".  Kid is a junior in college now.

    Well done.

We don't allow devices in bedrooms.  Theirs or ours.  No phones, computers, desktops, ipads, or TVs.  But they're only 5 and 8 now.  Much tougher battle with teenagers.

    Beautifully said.

Growing up my parents banned me from using Facebook or any other type of social media. I thought it was so unfair at the time because everyone else my age was involved with it and I felt like I was missing out.

Now I understand why... my parents are absolute geniuses for keeping me away. I’m on zero social media platforms now. I tried it out for a bit in college and it made me miserable. It was so time consuming and superficial.

It has some perks, but I’ve always felt that if someone wants to know how I’m doing they can pick up the damn phone and call me. That’s if they REALLY truly care how I am doing, otherwise liking my photo and pretending like they know how I am is a joke.

I plan to keep my kids away from all platforms as long as possible.
