I'd be tempted to trade Josh for Mahomes, not that that offer would ever be on the table. He's the only one though.

I struggled with this. Was gonna give you a🤮 but decided against it. Mahomes has a better resume, period. I agree with you. But F him. He would definitely not fit the cultural vibe that is Buffalo. His baggage (some family members) would not go over well in a blue collar town like Buffalo. Plus, he’s our Josh. We watched him grow up before our eyes. I’m riding the Allen train until it stops. GO Bills!

Beasley is a free agent and he wants to play in KC or NJ next year.

I hope he is signed on an incentive based contract and traded to Texans.

Keen observation on the first sentence. Setting himself up in the off-season because he knows we probably won’t sign him.

Cole’s not wrong. Right now Mahomes is the best. In fact he has a bigger lead on Allen right now than he did a year ago at this time.

I agree. But as far as teammates, I’d rather Cole have Allen’s back than point out he’s not in the top 2. Plenty of ways to address the Jests/GB/ Aaron fiasco without dragging your teammate into it. Sometimes homerism is ok.

I have never understood the infatuation with this guy. He basically bulls forward for 3 yards.

My infatuation with him is he ran all over us. If we get him on the cheap, and he is not a feature back, I think I like it. He won’t be the best fit for every game plan. But we can abuse soft D’s with him and use him to soften up the tougher defenses. That said I don’t follow him or anything, I just remember hating to play against him.

good breakdown 👍. Honestly I don’t know what the answer is at RB. i am hoping it’s a combination of Cook and Hines so they can focus on WR and OL.

Man, I completely agree. With your response and Folz post. I don’t feel comfortable saying our backs suck. They’ve shown flashes. Before we hang them, I think a review of the coaching room from the RB coaches up to the OC is in order. I believe these guys can play.

    A few more…

Scotty Miller -WR-  Runs in the 4.3s and has shown off that speed in games. He catches the ball and has had some very good games in the past in which he kind of took over. He is coming off a bit of a down year. Looked like he could bust out and it just didn’t happen.

Mitchell Wilcox -TE- He finally came around a bit this year with the Bengals. The just non tendered him and it seems some people feel it’s a bit of a controversial decision. He doesn’t really standout in any of his physical traits, but made some clutch plays for the Bengals this year. Perfect #2 type guy.

Evan Brown -IOL- Mainly a center but can also play guard. I think he is interesting because of his outstanding RAS score coming out of SMU. He was pretty good filling in for an injured Frank Ragnow in 2021. Good depth and competition.

Connor McGovern -IOL- I talked a lot about the Jets version, this is the cowboys one from Penn State. He played well in spots but Dallas never turned things over to him full time, I am not sure why. But I think there is something there. He can play center and guard and I think he has potentially as a starting guard. Still just 25, he is a former linemate of Ryan Bates at PSU. 6-5, 320, with long arms, he fits the profile, while he isn’t the athletic freak they usually seek

You nailed the McGovern pick.  Congrats. Now let’s get the others. I also feel like Poyer might come back, might. Looking like a Milano deal, test the market, play for a crappy team for 10% more or come back home! Go Bills.

I expect lots of tears on here before dinner time

I liked the McGovern signing. I expect a few serviceable players to be signed. Nobody sells hope like Buffalo!!! Edmonds was a hit, but now that money cam be used for a few good starters, and that’s what I considered Edmunds, a good player, but not a first round, pay with that kind of pay check. Go Billls and thanks for posting.

Bengals seem like a pure class organization.

From coach Taylor , to the players and to the fans.

If bills don’t win the SB, will definitely be pulling for the Bengals

I totally agree with this post. I have mixed emotions because they are the bungles, but man they handled that with class. I have a feeling Coach McDermott tried to rally the troops. Even Steph tried to get them going. I think even with blood in the water, Taylor…… speculating here, I think he saw the pain, went to McD and said let’s end this. If so hats off to the entire organization and especially Taylor for recognizing the moment.

You pay employees with income generated. The WNBA for example has never made a profit. It's charity, not business. If they are paying players 5k per week then they are operating at a huge loss and are just hoping it works. They might as well play the lottery because that's not how a business is run.

Odd take on the situation. Ever hear of Jeff Bezo’s and his little online bookstore? He lost truck loads of money before becoming profitable. And his employees are definitely not “let’s build nirvana”! Now please don’t consider me a fan of his or Amazon. I think there are definitely multiple ways to build things. But as a retired firefighter, unions and collective bargaining for workers is a good thing. If you disagree, that’s fine. I think they are important. What’s the stat on wealth. Like 1% of the people on the planet control90-95% of wealth. These guys bust their rear ends. Invest in them! Sorry if that’s too soap boxy, and sorry if I came a little snarky early on. But man the workers need some representation.

Milano is good, but I don't think he is good enough to hang with Kelce w/o help.

Kelce is a special talent. He runs routes as crisply as any receiver yet has that strength, size, and height to outmuscle DBs and safeties for contested balls. He has a better catching radius and softer hands than Knox and has also mastered that little shove or pushoff in and out of his breaks to create enough separation to be a consistent target.

Also, for reasons I cannot fathom, defenses lose track of him - especially down in the red zone. It is like he is coated in radar-absorbing material.

You cannot let him get off the line cleanly or he will just run by folks, find the soft areas in your zone schemes on schedule where Mahomes will hit him. You have to jam him and disrupt the timing and the route first and foremost. Then do your best bracketing him in coverage and making him earn every catch. Take your flags and your lumps along the way, but probably worth it down the stretch in a game just to keep him and Mahomes off their game.

Thanks for the well thought out reply. I think Milano is a fantastic football player. But I agree that Kelce has been a huge problem for us. Not sure if it’s scheme or player.

    Not sure either.

Having that tweener S/LB kind of player that has the skills to actually skate with Kelce 1:1 would be rare.

More likely they found ways to effectively double him and disrupt his timing and routes.

But yeah, would need someone who can break down that film. Either way, something Frazier's staff is sure to do.

    S/ LB-Milano?

This is a fantastic message board and it’s my go to place for all my Bills breaking news. Some of the regular posters here have as good of a perspective on the Bills as many of the media types that do it for a living.

That being said, this place turns into a suicide cult after every loss and there are a fair number of trolls who come here to stir the pot.

I’m not sure how any long term Bills fan can look at the totality of what McDermott has done for this franchise and not be incredibly grateful that he is our coach.

Does he deserve criticism for bad moves? Absolutely.  Should he be immune to accountability?  Absolutely not.  But, anyone on this board saying he’s a bad coach or we should move on from him is either a fool or a troll.

Well said. I like to listen to WGR after the game. But God helps us if we lose, the suicide cult act like lemmings jumping off a cliff.

Fie with what he have, I would like to see Shakir get developed and insert Hines as a WR more.  I have already written off Crowder and Stevenson, keep the ine reserve emergency.

Not exactly a "process" guy, his attitude in Houston sucks.

If I played for Houston my attitude would probably suck too. Don’t know his background, but man playing for Cleveland or Houston. I have a pretty positive attitude, but not sure I could hold it together with one of those franchises.

  13. Went to a Bills game and my brother about 10 years ago. We also brought our young sons. Around 10 and 12 years old. We had tickets for the M and T suite. When boarding the plane (obviously we were in Bills gear) Joe  DeLamielleure Was sitting in first class. As we walked by he looked at my son and said “ do you know who I am.” My son did not speak. I whispered in his ear but he was still frozen. We fist bumped and said thanks. When we got off the plane my son said “ I know who you are now.” He told me son and nephew to come over and he told us dads to snap some pics. Good guy, down to earth and he initiated all contact.

At the game in the suite we asked if my son could have a pic with Andre Reed. Let’s say I’m not a fan.

These gen Z'ers need to man up. The most adversity they've had in their adult lives is when they ran out of toilet paper at the store during COVID.

Back in my day, we didn't have concussions. It was called getting your bell rung and if you sat out for more than 1 play then you were a sissy. One kid on my team got the wind knocked out of him and the coach chewed him out and said if you are laying on his field it's because they need to call in the ambulance, otherwise man up and get back in the huddle. If we broke a bone they would tape it up with athletic tape, duct tape, scotch tape, whatever they had and you would be back out there the next series. Kids these days have no idea

I hope your joking. I’m new, but if not……

  15. 1. It’s a clear home field advantage.

    2. it’s a brilliant move by the Dolphins.

    3. I think the NFL should address it for player safety only.

    4. This is on the Bills, where were canopies/ tents,  misting fans etc. The training staff was on the field with heat exhausted players. No shade provided, no towels soaked in ice water. I mean come on, let’s accept some responsibility.

Well, if you're going to post angry, go big or go home.  If you are on team "we were injured," feel free to stop reading now.  This game was embarrassing in all aspects of the game, and even beyond to the NFL.

1 - Everyone else - This whole week has been about the players we don't have on the field, yet it was the guys who stayed healthy that made some of the biggest impacts on the game.  In a game of "what if's", there were countless plays you could point to that could have sent this game in a different direction.  Milano with an inexcusable dropped pick 6, Josh with at least 4 passes that should have been easily intercepted, multiple lost yardage plays due to bad snaps, Brown getting just abused at RT until he also leaves the game sick, Bass with an short FG miss that could have been the game winner, and again Allen missing a wide open McKenzie for a touchdown.

2 - Inevitable - If there were one thing that kept me up at night going into this game, it was fear of miscommunication and gap integrity between the safeties and corners.  In a game where the Bills did a great job of limiting Tua, Waddle, and Hill, they folded when it counted the most giving up an inexcusable 3rd and 22 to the Bills goal line.  Without that play, of all of them, the Dolphins stat line is pedestrian and pull off a miracle defensive performance.

3 - Safety - I don't know enough about all of the medical protocols or options for teams in a game like this, but you really have to question the NFL after this game.  How Tua was able to clear concussion protocol so quickly makes absolutely no sense.  I haven't seen a QB stagger off the field like that since Joe Montana with the Chiefs against the Bills in the playoffs.  I don't care how well he passed tests in the locker room, there's no way he should have been allowed to play.  To be clear, this has nothing to do with the Bills losing and I don't think Tua beat us on any level.  Between that, the amount of play stoppages for dehydration and cramping, and the amount of players who left the game early, something needs to be done differently.

4 - Come and take a walk on the wild side
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
You like your girls insane ("Louder!", "Alright")
So choose your last words, this is the last time
'Cause you and I—we were born to die

5 - Allen - You are either a stat person or you aren't, and for this game, I don't care about Josh's stats.  He lost this game for us on offense and I think he would tell you the same thing.  Josh's accuracy on crossing routes was poor, throwing multiple passes behind the receivers.  He threw at least 4 passes that easily should have been picked off, plus the miss to a wide open McKenzie last goal line drive.  While he overcame it, the PF call to lose 15 yards was inexcusable.  Josh was clearly rattled in the second half and started to press too much.  Maybe it was the heat, frustration of some terrible snaps, or playing with only 3 active receivers at times, but Josh needs to be better than this.

6 - Play calling - I have to hand it to the Dolphins as they had a very good game plan for our offense and did enough to keep the Bills offense at bay.  Again, you can look at stats all you want, but Diggs was relatively shut down in this game after the first quarter.  Howard left the game for a while and Diggs still couldn't do anything.  Davis was also quiet as we heard Gilly's name more than his.  As for the Bills, they continue to collapse on short yardage plays, can't run to save their life, and flirted with turnovers a lot.  Nothing ever felt fluid for the Bills on offense or defense, in a game that's almost impossible to describe to someone who didn't watch it.

7 - Motor - I understand that Moss had a big run in this game.  But beyond that, Motor was the only back doing anything on the field and it's been this way through three games.  Additionally, the running plays on the RPO or out of the shotgun were some of the slowest developing plays I've ever seen.  You would think the offense was running on quicksand and showed no push or burst up front.  And before you point to the loss of the entire right side of our line, this was before those injuries and were runs to the left side.  I know we are a passing team, but this is inexcusable.

8 - McKenzie - If there were one shining light on offense, it might have been that we finally saw a McKenzie jet sweep in this game.  McKenzie used his speed on quite a few plays to pick up nice chunks of yards, to the point that makes you wonder why he hasn't been used more up until now.  His 20+ yard catch was a beautiful touch pass by Josh, but an equally great catch by McK.  I also want to know why McK wasn't returned the free kick after the safety.  Was that because it was still a punt, in theory?

9 - Special teams - Between the Bass missed FG, being pinned inside our 20 a few times, and Crowder not even getting back to the 25 after the safety, the special teams was another group who found a way to not show up in this game.  Absolutely horrendous job by unit that was healthy coming into the game.

10 - Bye Week - I'll be honest, I don't know what to expect through the next 3 weeks.  You can find some solace in how the defense held Waddle and Hill down, but I'm not one willing to crown the Dolphins as a top tier team yet.  Going into Baltimore next week is going to be brutal, and then we still have the Chiefs after that.  I know that it's early, and thankfully we get to play the Dolphins again.  But we may very well need the tie breakers for the Ravens and Chiefs, so it sucks to have these games coming up when we aren't even 50% healthy.  Out of everything, I just hate having a season be defined by injuries, and that's exactly what this season is shaping up to be.

For those looking for more about the game, my apologies.  I'm not going to cool down from this game for a long time.  I can handle a loss and was expecting one.  But to lose like this is just pathetic to me.  The Dolphins were better prepared, had more energy, and played harder.  Lose, but don't get beat in those three phases.  That's on McD.

Really enjoy your posts and thanks for taking the time to write up thoughtful posts. Might have waited a day to post, this one seemed a bit emotional.
