Again with these leagues, how is this time any different? The level of play is hard to watch and there's no fans. Why do they keep trying to recreate these leagues the same exact way as before and then wonder why they fail? What's different? There needs to be something to lure people in and they haven't found that yet.

I kind of wish the Bills and all NFL teams (teams could share a minor league team) had a minor/developmental league. Like the Amerks. No more practice squads. I’d watch to see our future stars develop. You gotta think it would help development of some players. Basically jacked up college teams. I don’t need the silly rules of XFL or whoever. I do like listening in on coordinators though.

Exactly! So why not create the best tailgating experience in the nation with plenty of restrooms, electrical hookups, solar carports, performance stages, and parking lot based beverage/concession stands. This is WNY, not Southern California. If fans are going to cough up extra cash for the seats themselves, why not make the before game experience truly extraordinary at a price that your regular Bills fans can afford?

I’m all for improving the tailgate experience. I think there is a problem with your proposal. Liability.  Not positive, but if they acknowledge it, participate in it, they then become liable. Any lawyers here that might expand on this thought?

they have to worry that at soooome point Kelce misses time. His health has been remarkable but statistically can’t keep up forever and they have so little insulation for that today

In todays age, these guys are playing a lot longer (i.e. Brady), the nutrition, injury care etc is head and shoulders above years ago. Plus the SOB never seems to take a good hit. Those guys drive me nuts, I think Beasley and Brown were the same way.

Yeah it makes good TV and gets people like you to buy in.

Sorry. Making claims about my “buy in” is a bit of a joke as you don’t know me. I’m a bit brighter than that. I don’t buy into entertainment. I enjoy it and chose what I watch for entertainment. So yeah, I watch his highlights once or twice a month, along with once or twice when he hosts Allen. But sorry, I don’t “buy in”, it’s entertainment not some life or death decision you buy into. Training for military, first responders etc involves “buy in”.

Can anyone confirm Buffalo lost a third round comp pick by signing Harris? If so, that is a HUGE mistep by Brandon Beane...unbelievable.

I like the thought of considering comp picks when signing free agents. I think long term, it’s just good planning. I believe the staff always considers long term outcomes. That being said, our Super Bowl window is open now. Do I believe in selling  out to get a Super Bowl. Yes and no. If it works great (see Rams). But if the Rams lost they would look foolish now. Oops back to my point. I think our window got shorter because of everything that happened last year. Last year was probably year one for winning a SB. Me personally, I don’t want to do what the Rams did, but minor things (argument could be made against it) like comp picks don’t concern me. Plus there’s the it’s a wash argument. Bottom line, if Harris makes us better today for the right term, sign him.

On a side note. I hated that guy. He was a Bill killer. At the very least, sign him and bench him. Then he will at least quit carving us up.

Yeah for sure. Fans in places like NYC, Biston, Philly never overreact to things!!!

and Beasley is a moron for a lot of reasons but getting mad at him about this is really dumb.

What an insane take on Allen and Mahomes based on absolutely nothing.

What??? Mahomes is in freaky KC. If he was winning multiple SBs in Buffalo, fans would be defending his brother. Weird take.

Dumb, insane, weird. Class act. Yup, I would go on to say I never said I was mad at him, but I can see from your posts it won’t be productive.

You won't get a good return on any trade with him, but wouldn't say no one would be interested.  A team with a lot of money to spare may take a gamble on him.  Yes he's a FA next season, but whomever he plays for in 2023 does have the inside track on signing him to a new contact as a last resort could tag him.  Also that team can sign him prior to next March.

Will he get traded not likely, but if the Bills were desperate to offload the salary, I'm sure they could find a taker at a low return on value.

I think the fact that a team could tag him and keep him is a possibility. But I’m with you, unlikely. I bet Einstein’s dog is smarter than ours, hell, he’s probably smarter than me. 😃

The reason many people would like to trade Oliver is to move resources from the Defense to the Offense.  Oliver is over $10M and that money would go a long way in getting an elite player on offense.

To the OP, I think it would be more realistic to think of one move, not multiple.  And to rate those moves.  Sure D Hop would look great but he is picks and a huge salary.  J Jeudy would cost less monetarily but comes at a big draft pick and looming cost a year out.  OBJ comes with a midrange cost and lots of injury/recovery risk.  D Henry comes at mid-range draft cost and mid-range to high cost - but is also an RB.

I'd like to see the FO do an off the radar move of a draft pick for M Evans.  Not as expensive as D Hop, more proven experience than Jeudy, healthier than OBJ, and not an RB like D Henry.

As Billz4ever has pointed out,  the money is fully guaranteed, so a cut is out of the question. Sounds good to trade him to allocate resources to offense but I don’t think it’s realistic. Could it happen, sure, but I’d rather keep him. It’s a contract year for him. One very good year and he’s gonna get paid big time, hopefully not by us. Honestly, I think we are gonna ride out his last year, it makes sense.

The other points are interesting, I was more interested in the Oliver chat, which honestly I feel bad posting about in here because I don’t want to hijack the OP’s post. I like your screen name.

I don't think it can really be argued that Oliver hasn't lived up to what the team expected from him when they took him at #9 overall.  Having said that, I think it would be difficult to find a team willing to take on his $11M salary going into this year.  I think we're stuck with him and we just have to hope for the best.

See my response to TheBeaneBandit. I agree, he’s not going anywhere. But I think next year at this time 11 million might look like a deal.

Yeah in an ideal world we could sign Oliver to a "prove it" mini extension to lower his hit this year. But the world is probably fantasyland lol.

That would be ideal. But I envision him playing like a monster this year to get paid mega bucks on his next contract. I believe he will be good to very good this year and there will be no way to afford him next year. He’s essentially Tremaine. Someone’s gonna pay him and it won’t be us. But let’s not get rid of him now because I’d bet the house he’s gonna have a big year. Let’s use it for the SB push then get a decent comp pick.

Lol, yes they do. Cody Ford? It’s Sunday and I’m relaxing so I’m not gonna make a list. But I agree with your point that teams aren’t looking to trade for JAG with a big salary.

Even if you cut Oliver, it still counts as dead cap.

You're now saying we can just cut him, but in another breath say we can trade him?

You're saying a guy we can just cut has trade value?

I hate being disrespectful by posting non Hopkins stuff, but I am interested in yours and others views on Oliver. I randomly chose to respond to your post. My point would be, why on earth would you trade Oliver in a contract year? This is when the first round “meh’s” come out to play. It’s payday. He will probably be a beast next year, let’s ride it and see him out the door as they get paid a ton to revert to their former selves. See Phillips and Shaq. Thanks for posting. Go Bills!

I wouldn't.  The offense can't give Henry enough touches.  Cook and Hines need to see the field to be part of the passing game.

Diggs is the team prima donna, and I wouldn't put another in the receiver room. The Diggs-Hopkins show would be a distraction.

If I were going to stretch, it would have been for a stud offensive lineman.

Agreed, plus I don’t think Dorsey has proven he can make all these dynamic pieces work together.
