They can and they do throw flags for this. There is a whole other defender taking his legs out and in 2020 thats a flag more often than not. I'm not arguing that I agree that it should be a penalty, but this is what football is now. They just don't seem to enforce it against everyone.

Defenseless receiver or the fact that he got hit in the head. Again though, I'm not saying it wasn't a good play, just that in todays NFL that gets called a lot.

Do you mind sharing a video of a defenseless receiver flag like this when the defender playing the ball has incidental contact with the offensive player?

If the NFL was a place where physical plays happen in the secondary, I would totally agree. Unfortunately players are almost always flagged for hitting too hard now. Add in the fact that there was contact to the head and I'm just surprised. His hand being in there and being at the right height was amazing though.

Defensive player has right to catch the ball just like the offensive player. Fitzpatrick was in position to make an interception. You can't throw a flag for incidental contact like this.

What is a credible source these days aways

For example, media presented in the practice sessions last week actually saw John Brown running, maybe even with a video, or interviews of coaches, etc.

definitely not someone in an internet forum with none of above to back up his claim(s).

I’m I read everything I can and share I have to believe Brown has recovered. I could be wrong

I just trying connecting dots and usually it bring you to a logical opinion

Thanks for confirming it's just your opinion and hasn't been reported by a credible source.

Milano played on a very limited basis,  he will start and take the majority of the reps.  Brown is running just fine Einstein but if you know anything about leg injuries you can tweak them easily.  As of today, Brown will start.  The trainers and coaches will be closely monitoring his reps during the week and extra treatment in the whirlpool. Why are you arguing about something so simple to grasp

Is this your opinion or is this reported anywhere? So far I can't find any actual news about it. If it's reported by any credible source, can you please share it? If it's just your opinion, please just ignore this post.

No, that's not what I mean.  The ball appears to be inbound and across the 14 yd line while Diggs is out of bound, but still in the air.  So per part 1 of the rule you cite above, to my understanding that should have been a 1st down.  The last picture is the clearest, but impossible to tell if Diggs is down at that point.  The coaches film shows that he isn't.

It looks to me that only when Diggs is about to touch the ground that the ball reaches first down mark. Consider how far he is out-of-bound in the end (as in your 2nd picture) and he still moves forward after he jumps, it doesn't seem to me the ball is at 14-yard line when the ball crosses sideline.

Below is after he is airborne and the ball is not yet at first down mark where Diggs stretch forward with the ball ahead of him. This is soon after your first picture. Consider where his body position is in your first picture, the ball seems already out of play field here and short of first down.

I will ack that I can't find anything super definitive.  This looks to me like the ball is at or near the 14 yd line, while nothing has yet touched down OOB.

Here's when/where Diggs touches OOB, the ball isn't across the 14 at this point but he pulled it back as he fell.  It's very clear nothing of Diggs touches until this point watching the whole clip, he is airborne

From the broadcast, another angle, looks like the ball is across and then can see from above view he is not down at this point.

At the very least, should have called for discussion and measurement

Do you mean that although the ball doesn't across 14-yard line when Diggs is last inbound (the first picture), the ball could be at 14-yard line when any part of his body touches the ground (the last picture)?

If so, the question is not where the ball is when Diggs touches the ground, the culprit is where the ball is when the ball crosses the sideline. By NFL rulebook as below, the spot is determined by the location when the ball crosses the sideline. In this case, it looks to me it's quite short of the first down mark.

    --------------------------------------

Item 2. Runner Out of Bounds. If the ball is in player possession when that player goes out of bounds, the out-of-bounds spot is the forward point of the ball when the ball crosses the side line, or, if the ball does not cross the sideline, the forward point of the ball at the instant the player is out of bounds

  8. People should still remember Jets and Kelechi Osemele Saga last season. Osemele followed the NFL protocol and independent doctors deemed surgery was required while Jets felt he should be able to tolerate his injury to continue practice and play. Jets fined Osemele when he didn't show up for practice and eventually released him after Osemele chose to have the surgery.

BTW, Osemele is playing really well for Chiefs this season after recovery.

With memory of this saga still fresh, Jets did it again to their prized 1st-round pick rookie and franchise left tackle, Mekhi Becton, again. Becton was graded as one of the top offensive rookies so far this season. Becton was dressed in last game but didn't start and was told he'd only play in emergency. He was put in to the game  but eventually needed to remove himself from the game.

    Becton's mom was pissed:

And now rumor is that Becton has a potential tear in his shoulder:
