  1. Our house and the house next to us share the lot between us. The house next door is a rental and the renters seem to think they have rights to all the land in-between us. The owner of the rental property knows it a a split lot, but I'd like to plant some trees or bushes that would show where the property is divided and also to provide some added privacy. I need something that will be a little tall, but not grow too tall, as the land our house sits on is about 5 feet higher than the neighbors. Does anyone here have any ideas as to the type of trees/bushes to look for or the type to stay away from? Who would I call for this type of thing? A nursery?

  2. Just got my email from DirecTV:

    Dear PIZ,

Thanks for writing. I understand how frustrating it is when the game you want to watch isn't available on NFL SUNDAY TICKET. However, we're

required to follow game availability rules set up by the NFL, CBS and

    FOX.

In general, you'll get all of the games on channels 702-719 unless:

    - Your local FOX or CBS station shows the game, in which case you will

need to tune to your local channel to watch it. If you don't have local

channels in your DIRECTV package, you can add them online at DIRECTV.com or by calling us at 1-800-531-5000.

    - The home team in your area didn't sell out the stadium 72 hours before kickoff.

In special situations, a local station may decide at the last minute to

show a different game, in which case we will change the NFL SUNDAY

TICKET blackouts when permitted by the NFL. If a local station switches

coverage due to a one sided or extra-long game, we will lift the

blackouts (when permitted by the NFL) so that you will get the game in

    the 700's.

  3. that is how it was last year. what's the big deal?

It wasn't that way for me last year. I got every game on my Directv, except for Sunday and Monday nights. The problem is, and I hate to admit this on this board, but sometimes, I have to set up my vcr and time it to record the Bills game and watch it later. So, if it's on a local channel, and I don't know it's going to be on locally, I could record 3 hours of blank screen. I guess I'm just mad because when I signed up for this I was told by the guy that I would get every game except Nationally televised games.

  4. So, I'm flicking throught my Sunday ticket games and I come across 2 games that say "this game is not available in your area, please see program guide for alternate channels" or something like that. I live in PA and the games were Oakland at Pittsburgh and Bucs at Washington. What the heck is that? So, I turn off the dish and go to my cable. Low and behold, on Fox is the skins game and on CBS is the Steeler game. Aren't I supposed to get all the games on NFL Sunday Ticket except for Monday night and Sunday night games? I've had the Ticket for 4 years and have never seen this message.

  5. Doesn't matter who the other team is. You build your guys up by doing it.

Yeah, true, and I think Grey, like Tom Clements, are upstairs in the booth. Could explain why Nate, London, and TKO all do those annoying dances. Maybe they're trying to pump up their teammates, but in the meantime they are annoying the fans; Well, at least me anyways.

  6. No, we need a kicker badly. We need someone reliable and someone who can kickoff into the endzone.

Hollis would be at least reliable and he is available. A guy who I like, and who is available, is Rob Bironas, a guy on Pittsburgh roster during pre-season. The guy made every field goal I saw him kick in the preseason, and he has a strong leg. Every kickoff I saw him kick went deep or out out of the end zone. Rian Lindell has no confidence and just plain and simple sucks.

  7. I thought he could have lofted the ball over the pass rusher.  Maybe it was that the timing of the rush would have made Drew throw it too early & Shelton hadn't turned yet.

A lofted pass, in my opinion, was his only choice, but when you throw a lofted pass it could be trouble because it is easy pickins for a safety.

  8. Here's your link Steve, and it sounds like he would be a good pickup.

    Jets Insider

Jets release offensive lineman Smith. In a somewhat surprising move, the team announced that they have released veteran G/T Brent Smith.

Smith, an 8 year pro originally signed with the Jets last season as a backup but the sudden retirement of Tom Nutten forced him into the starting lineup where he did a solid job filling in. Coming into camp this season, Smith was expected to resume his starting role but was forced into a battle as a starter when the team acquired Pete Kendall at the beginning of camp. He was eventually beat out by second year man Brandon Moore at the right guard spot.

The move is a bit of a shock considering the Jets very thin depth at the position. The only reserve guard on the depth chart at present is Jonathan Goodwin who is actually now the reserve center behind Kevin Mawae.

Word coming out of camp is that the move was salary cap motivated. If Smith was active on the Jets opening day roster the team would have been responsible for his entire $550K salary. However, by releasing him they can re-sign him next week and only be responsible for his weekly salary while he is on the roster. Still, with many teams looking to bolster their offensive line depth the Jets are taking a big risk that he may be claimed on the waiver wire.
