Their offense has had issues all year. They moved the ball against the Bears and Chargers, but so does everyone. Their defense has been winning games for them. Their issue is they have no above average pass catchers behind Kelce and their OL isn't playing as well.

Hmm, where have I heard a version of this story before?

    Hint: rhymes with rchard arc

Caress of steel was a POS...

CoS was an album that Rush made for Rush -- in spite of their best intentions.  As someone who's made music for 30+ years (writing tunes, gigging, touring, mixing, engineering, etc), it's easy to fall into that trap.

But what surprises me more about CoS is that they followed up with... 2112, and that 2112 resonated with people.  2112, for whatever reason, is weird and wonderful in ways that CoS isn't.

  3. I remember this game slightly, slightly meaning that I remember bits and pieces of it, because I ended up with a concussion.  I distinctly remember Flutie running into the end zone FTW, and jumping up off my couch in delight.  Unfortunately I'm 6'6" and my ceilings were around 7' in my old, old house at the time.  I hit my head on a beam, causing massive damage to the sheet rock that covered it.

The rest, as my former neighbors told me, was them just checking in to say hi, an ambulance ride and an ER trip, and (by their telling) brain fog for several days.

    Solid win tho.  HAHA!

  4. Great thread, OP (that wasn't sarcasm).  Coaching still kind of concerns me, and I'm being low key with this remark.  Could this team win the SB this year?  Yes.  Could this team finish .500 or less this year?  Yes.

Going into this season I'm just feeling cautious.  You go from 17 years of (wrongly) talking yourself into thinking that EJM and others of his ilk would QB this team into the playoffs to two years of utter letdowns.  This team is really good, but it's also got its warts.  That's the tough part to reconcile going into this season.

Same here, but it is the case that they currently have the best coverage of the Bills (at least in my opinion). I hate giving it up, but we're not paying that much for a newspaper that is peripheral to my life outside of Bills coverage. I'm up to my eyeballs in newspaper/magazine subscriptions anyway.

So very true.  That's the same reason I had to put the kibosh on my subscription to "The Economist".  Couldn't keep up, too expensive, and ended up in the recycling.

I've grown very accustomed to my in-season Monday-morning routine of plowing through every Bills-related article in BN instead of doing my job, but admittedly this is getting to be an irrational waste of money considering how much free content is out there and the fact that I already pay for The Athletic.  I'm still sort of psychologically locked in but this is probably my last year as a subscriber.

Same here, pretty much, well except that it's not me who's been subscribing, but my dad, and I think that I've almost talked him into stopping his subscription.

The paper version of the BN -- not that I've ever mistaken the BN for the NYT in the 45 years that I've been reading it, and not that I ever wanted BN to be the NYT -- is woeful.  The Sunday edition, something that I used to look forward to, is *rolls eyes*.

Very interesting thread here otherwise.  Been a long offseason for the lot of us, or so it would seem.

Saw Robert Plant and Alison Krauss at Tanglewood last night.  Outstanding show, full crowd, couple of sprinkles but weather was better than expected.  They performed more Zep songs than I thought they would and they were great.  Probably half of their list was from their first album with 5-6 Zeppelin songs tossed in the second half.

True dat.  My wife saw them in Portland (Maine) at Thompson's Point on 7/3.  I wish that when she asked if I wanted to see the show that I said to get me a ticket.  Her video footage on her phone, and her response after the concert -- confirms what you wrote.  It was beautiful and moving, and my god can that Plant guy still sing!

My 23 yr old stepdaughter is hella smart, and I am grateful for that. We were going to set up a dining room in one of the downstairs bedrooms that don't have doors. Just like the previous owner and previous owners before them.

She says, "You don't use your dining room table except for putting mail and packages on it. You use it to eat on maybe twice a year. Why don't we just make it into Ken's office?"

Blackrock is gaining traction in their bid for the first approved crypto ETF.  The SEC has rejected all applications for crypto ETFs citing a number of arguments the most compelling of which, in my opinion, is crypto exchanges are not regulated.  But Blackrock has a long history of successfully navigating the SEC and obtaining approval.

    https://www.ft.com/content/1886c3a3-3fb8-411a-b95a-e4667de560d1

This is potentially big for the crypto world and opens the door for many investors who want exposure to crypto without dealing with the complication of owning coin and private keys.  Its also very good news for me since I hold a little bit of Grayscale Bitcoin Trust which filed for ETF conversion years ago and has been suing the SEC.  GBTC trades at a discount to net asset value (NAV) of about 30% as of yesterday.  It was closer to 50% when I last bought.  Which means that actual bitcoin held by Grayscale is worth 30% more than a share of GBTC.  Conversion to an ETF would immediately result in a rise to market value.  See the link below for discussion of closed end funds and why they can trade at either a premium or discount relative to the value of the actual assets held.

    https://grayscale.com/qa-what-converting-gbtc-to-an-etf-would-mean/

This is an arbitrage play on successful ETF conversion.  Based on all the activity I think theres a decent chance the SEC approves crypto ETFs.

Graycsale Ethereum trades at a 50% discount.  I'm also looking at Grayscale Litecoin.

I am super familiar with Blackrock given my nearly 30 years in tech.  Let's hope that they don't want to invest in another submersible.

I have been invited to speak at an upcoming conference in Las Vegas, but I must admit that fashion and style are not my areas of expertise. Can you suggest any local shops or boutiques where I can find assistance in creating a stylish ensemble? All I have right now is the office-standard mix of blue/black/brown suits.

Frederick's.  I hear that they're from Hollywood, so what could possibly go wrong when you end up speaking at a conference in a camisole?

Yeah, NYT had a similar article this morning.  Apparently the CEO referred to the company internally as "SpaceX of the sea".  Their whole business model was to sell tickets to the wealthy (nothing wrong with that, of course), and provide these boutique experiences.  Initially the price was $100k +/-, where the actually number represented -- get this -- the original price of a first class ticket on the Titanic, but was adjusted for inflation.  You just can't make this stuff up.

Yeah, multiple news sources have shared this now.  I'm glad to have these defenses in place, but at the same time you wonder what goodies exist amongst us.  Not a conspiracy guy, but jeez.  It's almost like these goodies help us avoid world wars, but also don't lead to better behavior either.  Ugh.
