  1. You people who hate analytics need to get over it. Just because you do not like the output doesn't make the output less accurate. As an example, I personally spend a considerable amount of time on an algorithm that ranks organizations that perform quarterback rankings. PFF scores relatively well at number 11 in my weekly rankings. Their score was reduced a bit by a few bad puns on their latest podcast and Steve Palazzolo's face in general. In my time performing these ratings if there is one thing that we have learned you can't overcome it is the tendency to tell bad puns and a close second is a person's face .. it is what it is and you can't change it. They did drop one spot this week from 10 as Chuck from "Ralph's Pizza Emporium" knocked it out of the park with his deep dive into the impact of Cam Newton's hair style on his rushing ability, scientifically showing that Cam is a little off balance toward the direction the hair spike lays.

    Numbers do not lie.

is it insane to think tannehill may have made many similarly good throws regardless?

I didn’t watch the game and 400 yards can be wildly slinging erratically or great discipline. I didn’t see if he was hitting his reads well to dispute his grade. If someone brings breakdown of one of the others playing badly, so be it. As is they all looked good on paper and the pff folks said they all passed the eye test. No need to be insulted by being among the very best scores in the week

And pff doesn’t grade on just yards, I was just pointing out he was highly productive

for instance, he probably got a very good grade on the Davis laser but might have come up short of the 2.0 score if they decided he missed the open Lee smith and shouldn’t have.

I don’t think any of us analyzed these guys on that level.

he’s in an elite group for the week.

The read was not to Lee Smiths side .. if there. Was nothing open on the other side he would have looked .. but a quarterback looks at his first read and if open he hits it. You don’t want the QB scanning the full field on every play unless needed

Actually I am surprised as Mayfield also had 4 TD, slightly better RTG and QBR and roughly 40 yard less passing and slightly lower completion percentage, but still just above 75%.

I also thought they'd give it to Mayfield as very close between the two and just to spread the award around some.  Glad Allen won it as from what I read never been won 3 times prior within one season by a Bill

I'm imagine Browns fans are complaining how Mayfield got robbed.

Baker did nothing in crunch time, fumbled to give the Browns hope and was playing a statistically worse defense than Josh. I could see Waller but not Baker over Josh

As happy as I am that he won the award, it is the 1st time that I wouldn’t have given it to him. There was another performance in the conference that was more impressive though Josh was more impactful due to the position that he plays

Waller was impressive .. 200 yards receiving and 2 TDs is a monster day.

What do Josh Rosen's stats look like...?

    Oh, wait......

He is on IR .. he calloused his hands clapping for Tom Brady and also took 13 splinters in the rear while sitting in the stands. Just wait though any day 9 teams that were ahead of Arizona will realize the mistake they made.

I always check out the competitions boards before we play them.  Quite often sign up for an account and chit chat about the upcoming game...when I went to the steelers forum this time I found this.  *****...you would think they are 1 and 11 and not 11 and 1.  Also saw a couple other threads that it seems the majority think we will crush them.  Shocked really.

    Anyway thought I'd share.

Signed up 4 years ago, just been reading. Some excellent writes out here. Could someone enlighten me on ROE's for posting, I'd like to not be an embarassment to the wall. BTW just in case your interested, I have a 51 year run with the Bills.

2 things I learned early 1) make the title meaningful if you are starting a thread 2) do a quick scan to ensure someone hasn’t already posted the topic

Good call... I recall a poster here getting trashed because he spoke to Ed Oliver at a bar and Oliver said Allen was trash.

Poor guy got absolutely destroyed here... im sure the story was 100% true.

The difference of course is in one case Tyreek Hill is quoted as saying it by a reporter who would be at risk of losing his job if he makes it up and in the other some guy on an anonymous board claims to have spoken to Ed.  Hmmm. It is a source credibility thing. On the bright side, even if Ed did think that I am certain he doesn't feel that way anymore given the on the sidelines Jerry Hughes emphatic declaration that Josh should be in the MVP conversation (he shouldn't be, but that shows the confidence the team has in him).

Going to update this thread every week to list Allen's current place and some notables that Allen will be able to pass in the upcoming game.

    Current Place 223rd

With a 250 yard performance will pass:

    - Arnie Herber(8 yards to pass)

    - Jimmy G(9 yards)

    - Tommy Maddox(54 yards)

    - James Harris(103 yards)

    - Pete Beathard(143 yards)

    300 yard performance:

    - Shaun Hill(262 yards)

    - Randy Johnson(296 yards)

    350 yard performance:

    -None

    400 yard performance:

    - Rudy Bukich(400 yards)

This is ridiculous ... and I love it. Josh - Go get Rudy!

  10. One should be careful .. the woman in question was arrested shortly thereafter as part of a large cocaine ring.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/bennetts-accuser-arrested/.. he also indicated that it was consensual .. he could be a jerk .. he could have been taken in by a player ... it is between him and God since he served his time, but the HOF is about performance on the field. He always struck me as belonging in the hall of the very, very good .. but not quite the HOF.

Yes, it’s a Josh Allen thread.  Sort of.  Deal with it.

So until last week the Bills’ defense has been decidedly mediocre, and in some instances just plain bad.  They’ve had key injuries, sure, but the game plan against KC made me want to vomit.  I think we saw a turning point with the defense, however, that I believe is in large part due to McD’s and Frazier’s confidence in the offense.  The Bills’ D played with a risky, go-for-broke mentality against Seattle we have not seen previously.  Did they play that way last season?  Hell no they didn’t; they essentially played Jauron-ball (like they did against KC).  I think McD now trusts Josh and Daboll to put points on the board against anyone, and if the D happens to get burned on a play or series the mentality is now “we’ll get it back” and they’re going to keep putting the pressure on opposing offenses.  I will be watching the defensive game plans very closely from here on out.

Interesting observation. In the Super Bowl years I always thought our Defense should have been more aggressive but we played a bend but don't break .. hold them to FG style. We won a lot of games, but I suspect we might have done better if we pushed for sacks and turnovers more .. getting it back into the hands of our offense. The 1st Super Bowl was an example where we scored9 points with only 19 minutes of possession time.

Personally, I’m tired of “under the radar”. Under the radar means you just haven’t done it enough or consistently.

We should all want our team and players to be ON the radar in a big way. It just means they’ve been doing the right things for a long time..... I’ll never get why so many bills fans wanna be “under the radar” all the time. Give me the radar please

Beats being OFF the radar .. which is where we have lived for 20+ years, but your point is taken ...Bills were not Under the radar in the early 90s .. they were the big blip in the middle of the thing.

Likewise we were missing a lot of key players in the Chiefs and Titans game (not to mention the weird circumstances around the Tennessee game and how that might have impacted things.)

Anyway, I think earlier in the year it seemed like the first half of our schedule would be the easier portion and the second half would be really difficult, but looking at it with fresh eyes this week I think the degree of difficulty is pretty similar for both halves.

Actually .. following the OP post .. 6 of the 9 first games were against currently positioned playoff teams. Only 3 of the 7 remaining games are against playoff contenders (Arizona, Pittsburgh, and Miami).  That lends itself to a strong finish.

Hasselbeck said he had a similar brace on and his throws were off during time, which could of been why josh wasnt as good weeks prior

Yep .. I posted this on the post game thread ... Hasselbeck actually predicted Josh would excel today as he should be recovered. Mentioned when wearing the brace you tend to float it high

he starts a little after me the 2 minute mark

True. IMO, the most impressive aspect of our defense today was that they actually confused Russell Wilson most of the afternoon. That is almost unheard of since he came into the league. Kudos to Frazier and McD.

Most knockdowns of any quarterback in a single game in 2020 does that ... they were all over him
