    Higher prices and less inventory

    https://www.cnbc.com/2025/06/27/deep-inside-economy-more-sticker-prices-start-to-go-up-due-to-tariffs.html

The latest inflation data came in hotter than expected, and Nike warned in its earnings on Thursday that prices will be going higher due to tariffs.

Across the U.S. retail and manufacturing distribution chains, inventory has started to be re-ticketed with higher prices, by between 8%-15%, according to ITS Logistics, including for apparel and consumer product goods.

The footwear industry says it expects prices to rise by between 6% and 10%.

It’s not just higher prices but less inventory

With current concerns about trade uncertainty and consumer softness, retailers and manufacturing clients are managing inventory by shrinking SKU counts and importing fewer SKUs they are keeping. The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported that gross domestic product shrank by 0.5% in the first quarter of 2025.

“The overall inventory footprint is smaller,” said Martin. “You are looking at three months of inventory on hand now versus six.”

Supply chain data from the warehouse sector and the growing number of empty shipping containers at ports are pointing to a more mild peak season (the summer buildup of inventory for the back-to-school and holiday shopping periods).

Warehouse inventory levels are down 6% month over month, according to the Logistics Managers’ Index.

Comparing readings from the first half of June to later in the month, growth in inventories started to slow down, which suggests that an increase in early June was temporary, according to Zachary Rogers, associate professor of supply chain management at Colorado State University. “Because of how long it takes inventories to move through systems, we haven’t seen any big shifts in transportation yet,” said Rogers. “Warehouse capacity did move from mild contraction to mild expansion.”

The data for the full month of June is not in yet, but Rogers said it is highly unlikely the results would change in any meaningful way. “We’re far enough along that we basically know where they’ll end up,” he said.

Is stagflation still viewed as the BEST case scenario? Seems like you made that up.

They can paint any picture they want of Biden, but the image they create doesn't reflect the genuinely good man he is.

Why do you think this genuinely good man never gave his granddaughter the time of day? Seems like the kind of thing a genuinely good man would do. I guess he had a reason for shunning this innocent young girl.

Neo nazis and white nationalists are almost universally maga's.  Remember the trump flags along with the Auschwitz T shirt on Jan 6. Or "stand  down and stand ready" or whatever the orange gasbag (as you called him) dog whistled to the proud boys?

CNN reported a leaked document later confirmed to have been written by military intelligence.  That's their job. It's news.  And the document is real.

Why do you think the initial CNN reporting didn’t mention the “low confidence” part? Surely they had a reason.

See, this is what I hate about Dem leadership.

Trump has his own private Gestapo deporting citizens, inflation is up again, and now they’re trying to strip the citizenship of a political candidate. And Corey Booker decided that NOW is the right time to ram through this vastly unpopular idea?

Schumer and Pelosi have got to hang it up and give the keys to younger members.

    Booker is 56.

I assume you bought during the Kamala Krash?

Of course but my personal preference is to be as steady as possible at all times. It’s a tried and true method.

A young person that won’t better themselves in the market because of Donald Trump (weird!) would be wise to invest in a Pelosi-mirroring fund. It’s a sure thing and more politically palatable for someone like you.

I just listened to John Bogle and let the index funds work their magic

It’s just that you were so enthusiastic about buying the dip during the Biden era and then you had no interest because of how Trump was treating our allies. Don’t believe me? Just search your own posts. It’s ok. You effed yourself. Try not to do it again because of politicians.

The market would of hit THAT record high much earlier had it not been for the stupid trade war. We are just making up lost ground here

Are you the one that started a thread about “stagflation being the best case scenario”? Any update on that?

    Schadenfreude is always fun.

Absolutely and though it doesn’t belong here, this has schadenfreude written all over it when looking back at those prone to hysteria and overreaction. Maybe you can relate.

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/27/investing/stock-market-record-dow-sandp

On April 8, when stocks were on the verge of plunging into a bear market, few Wall Street experts were predicting that the market would hit a record high just 80 days later.

That’s what the market appears to be set to do Friday. The S&P 500 is on pace to open in record territory. If it closes there, the market will set its first all-time high since February 19.

I feel awful for those that didn’t buy the dip because TRUMP.

    It was the second thing.

Well I think it’s a bit scary that certain posters here want to strip the citizenship and deport a political candidate just because they don’t like his views.

All well and good. That doesn’t explain your absurd takes in every other thread but it’s ok. I too would be pissed if I hadn’t bought the dip. Remember that for the next time you want to cut off your nose to somehow spite Trump’s face. It’s a fool’s errand.

They’re overcrowded because they’re desperately trying to hit their quotas, so they’re shoving people into facilities with no actual plan on processing them in an orderly fashion.

They’re still far below the goal.

Remains to be seen. It wouldn’t surprise me, given how barbaric and inhumane ICE agents are.

The government killed him but it may not have been murder is your current position, correct?
