Well, one guy comes to mind.
Yeah, I was going to say Marv as well, but Marv wasn't actually an "interim" head coach - he was hired mid-season in '86 to replace the fired Hank Bullough.
-
Well you're certainly right on all counts, but I thought Jack wanted to be NFL Commissioner, no?
Now I'm not saying that my relentless pining for Marv had anything at all to do with his eventual return, but if it did - let's bring back Jimbo too!
-
Hey, I just LOVE the staff Marv and Dick are putting together - can't think of a single hiring or firing that anyone should cause any negativity. Just when it looked like the entire franchise was at its nadir, along comes Marv to 'right the ship'.
I am very excited about the new staff, the upcoming draft, and the 2006 season - if they hire Jim Kelly as a QB coach or consultant, I'll even renew my season tix!
19 and 0 baby!
GO BILLS!!!

Yeah, I'm not sure he'd even be interested, but I wish Marv could talk him into it. On the successful successor thing, who did he have to tutor? He had Reich and Van Pelt as backups, but I don't think there was anyone else of a serious successor to tutor before he just retired and went away.
If he were interested in coaching, ya gotta start somewhere, and he certainly knows the QB position, no? From what I hear, he talks to JP quite a bit and they get along well. Kelly runs a football camp for adolescents - JP is somewhat adolescent, no?
And also, there's that whole "Bills' Pride" thing that Kelly talks about when he's on the radio complaining that the current Bills roster doesn't seem to appreciate the tradition or the pride of the franchise and wearing the Bills uniform. He's a HOF QB, a link to a glorious era in Bills' history, and would be an inspiration to the whole team. And we already know that Marv likes him.
But most importantly, I think he could get through to JP and teach him to be a successful QB.
Plus, having Jimbo on the sidelines sure would sell some tickets, I think.

Jim Kelly.

No no, I am not that easily offended - or I wouldn't be hanging out here!
Just a point of order - I was born in the buff...town. Moved to Lancaster when I was 7 (only 'cause that's where my parents moved), moved away at 18. Since my return, I've lived in BuffTown.

Anyone see "Family Guy" last nite?
Peter Griffin. We should draft Peter Griffin. He can do it all.

Well said, but that's just my approach to, well, just about everything. I can't imagine the Bills looking at their schedule and saying, "OK, we're gonna lose this game, and that one, etc., etc." Ya just gotta think you're gonna win every game, no? I hope that's how they will think.
And with Marv at the helm, they WILL be competitive for 16 games, hopefully 19. If anyone ever has a perfect season again, it will be Buffalo!

I saw Cotrell house hunting at Brierwood earlier today too!
Actually, I saw the newscast about 30 minutes ago - Ch. 4's Paul Peck did indeed report that Cotrell interviewed today - showed some old film of Ted when he was here before, and talked about his possible return. Will try to find a link somewhere...

Not I - I hope I never see "Duwamps" again!
Granted, it rained the whole time, and we were hung over the whole time, and Kelly and the Bills stunk up the joint (Kingdome), but it just seemed such a miserably depressing place. Had to leave the game in the 3rd quarter and drown my misery in a bottle of Booker Noe at McCormick's. (Nice bar - I will say that!)
And that underground city thing? It's just a bunch of old basements, ferchrissakes!
GO STEELERS!

Put me down for Pittsburgh - I've always liked them as a team, and it's funny when Cowher gets all apoplectic and the spit starts flying out of his mouth as he's screaming hard enuff to burst a blood vessel! Geez Bill, do you serve towels with your showers???
Whenever the Steelers are on our home schedule, it's one of the first games to sell out - sometimes even before Miami - and you can count on about 30 thousand Steelers fans invading The Ralph. For the most part, I've never had a problem with their fans - at least no worse than some drunken Bills' fans.
As for Seattle - can't stand the place. It's a city built on sh*t and sawdust, and all the people there are, well...
GO STEELERS!!!!

My prediction (as always)...19-0!!!

Yes they are - in fact, Triple-G got a huge raise when he signed on as Joe Gibbs' DC, but based on Mularkey's play selection and misuse of talent this past season, I am suprised he got a gig so quickly. However, I'm glad it's with Miami!
