We have 10 draft picks yet a lot of Bills fans think the sky has fallen after 1 stinking round

Especially over 5 draft spots that we received draft compensation for not once but twice.  Sounds like a lot of nervousness, apprehension, and fear of the unknown.  I will let it play out and reserve judgement until then.

The McDonkey dude isn't a difference-maker though. If he's the pick, we still need serious help at WR.

Add in shakir Samuel’s Kincaid, cook and Knox does he really need to be though.  Add in Troy Franklin later in the draft and I am 100 percent thrilled with our receiving room as a whole.

The trade for Diggs was a brilliant move by Beane at the time. With the trade of our first round pick, Beane essentially “drafted” a proven wide receiver. But that scenario doesn’t really exist for us this time around. There is no reasonable path to an Aiyuk, or Higgins, and at #28, regardless of which WR beyond Harrison falls to us, it’s never a good idea to hang your hat on a rookie. I keep thinking back on the insane trade-up for Sammy Watkins. Watkins was actually a decent, starting caliber WR, who’s had a decent career, but he never came anywhere close to the draft value the Bills placed on him.

And, IMO, an important thing to consider in both the Diggs, and Watkins situations, is that in both scenarios, the Bills were working with solid, and deep defense. Currently, what would be the Bills starting eleven on D is average, at best, and paper thin beyond that.

Even after the Diggs trade to Houston, I’m not convinced that the Bills are destined to draft a WR in round one. If this WR class is as deep as folks are saying, and assuming the top three will be gone by #28, there will be solid WRs in round two. The same may not be said about the defensive needs we have.

My hope is that Beane drafts BVPA at the numerous positions of need in the first round, and only trades up if there is real value in the trade. If that turns out to be a CB, or a safety, or a DE, or a WR, then so be it. His track record for trading in the draft is pretty damn good.

As far as the question in the OP is concerned— I’m not as married to the idea of a WR in the first as everyone else seems to be. (Although Beane/McDermott might be fearing pitchforks, at this point…) I just want Beane to continue to do what he does— he’s creative, he’s always looking, and he clearly has developed solid relationships throughout the league.

Not using our draft capital early and often in arguably one of the best wr drafts in a long time would be a huge mistake. You don’t like a wr at 28? Then move back and obtain more capital. Drafting more players on defense early is pure arrogance.  If your coaches claim to fame is defense then let him prove it.  Beane has invested hardly anything into the wr room (high draft choice). This needs to change.

I don’t disagree with you at all. Sorry I threw that out into the universe.  Would it really be that shocking though?

would be so foolish IMO. Very upsetting.

this staff turned a castoff in Poyer and a good player in Hyde into All-Pro’s

Mike Edwards is solid.  Rapp came on strong at the end of the year.  There’s still a small chance we could sign Justin Simmons in June if he’s left out there.  Or, take someone in the 4th that the DB coach knows already.

I can see it now.  Pick 28. Brian Thomas jr. is still sitting there.  We are all excited, it’s really happening.  With the 28th pick in the nfl draft the Buffalo bills select cooper dejean iowa.  😂

Even if he was pretending to be innocent he sure was able to show so much compassion for the situation

Nothing screams innocence more than re-enacting a scene from the movie “psycho”to describe how the mother of your children was murdered. Seems normal to me.

Is it a Bills football website, or not?  Simpson was found not guilty of murder, just like Tyreek Hill was never convicted of domestic abuse or whatever it is that people here constantly smear him with.  I don’t see the hypocrisy you’re talking about.

That doesn’t mean much. Especially if you watched the trial.

Beck has shouted out WAY more insults and condescending tone than the sum of all the other posters in this thread.

    I challenge you to reread.

Regardless, i still believe the media is more than 95% of Diggs' issues.    And a LOT of fans are buying that.  aka drinking the kool aid

(note: the term "drinking the kool aid" is not an insult.  Its an observation as to whether one believes another is being manipulated or persuaded.)

Yeah I know what kool aid means.  Thanks for the metaphorical clarification. I wouldn’t want to take that as a condescending tone as you alluded too.

Just more of the same from you.  Holier than thou.  More insults.  More lame attempts at trying to look "smart" and "clever".   And a few of your statements aren't even accurate as to whats been posted in this thread.  Talk about putting words in mouths.

Before you argue, at least pick a side.  Don't waiver back and forth ..  back and forth.  I get it, "winning" (which is clearly on your ego driven agenda) is easier if you are wishy washy.

And before you say, "where was i wishy washy", it's because you're attacking me for not buying into the media hype surrounding Diggs.... but then in the same breath go an about how you don't think hes a diva, etc.   So which is it?   And if it is indeed that later, why are you arguing with me?   That's right.  You just like to argue to hear yourself.

I challenge you to go back and reread your posts.  Then you want to cry foul. Please.

I suspect no one wants to be the source of "bulletin board material" before the Texans game this season.

What would be very telling is josh and Diggs shaking hands at the end of the game like daboll and McDermott did. 😳

So all of that, which is HIGHLY debatable, makes him a diva and toxic and above reproach?!  Lmao.

Everything you stated shows a competitive professional football player.  Do you work for MSNBC?

You do realize that Diggs got exactly what he was asking for.  Am I happy he is gone? No.  But at the same time I am not going to cry about it and make excuses for him as if he is the victim of some mass conspiracy.  Great player. Enjoyed his time here.  Wish him well in the future. Next man up.  I’m a bills fan first and foremost.

    hate on Diggs here

But that’s just it right there in a nutshell.  What exactly is the very definition of “hate” and “toxic”?  If having the opinion that Diggs was treated very well here, prior to forcing the Bills to trade him (like Minnesota) is toxic then I guess I am a Diggs hater by that definition. Personally I loved Diggs as a player. Loved his heart and passion.  But some of you get so triggered whenever anyone points out his part in all of this that you lose perspective.

Just the fact you mention how much he makes as a basis to take all the unnecessary heat is proving more of my point.

the guy was nothing short of amazing during his tenure here.   And you are STILL bitching about him.  And you wonder why he’s glad he’s gone.

You mean the heat he brought upon himself? Furthermore he was paid by the Bills commensurate to what he earned.  Which is the ultimate sign of respect by the bill’s organization.  Not once did I say he was overpaid. I simply stated a fact.  Not one comment or example I made was inaccurate or untrue. Yet somehow this proves your point that Diggs is mistreated?  Okay then.
