For a time. Teams figured it out by the end of his Jets tenure.

Simple fact is that he took a top-5 unit that had 50+ sacks in consecutive seasons and turned it into a mess of a unit that generated no pressure.

Teams learned that short passes and motion forced them into multiple checks per play. It was a total cluster.

No one figured it out, the Jets defense was old by the time he got to his final years there and when he got here the linebackers were too slow and the team didn’t buy in to the scheme switch. 10 years of history vs four. I’ll take the 10 thanks.

so weird... never understood this.  Is there a contingent of Southern Ontarioans who get off on rooting for the opposing team at Bills games?

Considering the Bills have terrible for the last 25 years and there are almost 6 million people in the GTA it's not hard to see how Bills games are an easy ticket for people to come watch their favourite NFL team without paying for a flight and hotel. It also doesn't help that half of our fan base sells tickets like candy instead of actually going to the games.

DT is not an immediate impact position especially as a rookie. If he has 8 sacks rushing from the DT spot that would be amazing. I just hope he isn't a liability in the run game.

Agree he will help pass rush for others. But a rookie penetrating DT can get out of position quickly in defending the run game.

There is no point in stating anymore I wanted Allen or Hock. It's history now.

I hate bringing up Aaron Donald because everyone and their mother is doing it but that's the most ideal comparison right now and he put up those numbers as a rookie from the DT position. So it's possible if Ed wants it, and I'm certain he want it.

    What?

I think he's referring to the coaching staff? In which case I agree, if you don't see a big jump in year three you need to begin evaluating what's going wrong. Is it personnel or coaching? If we have a similar record this year it's because Josh Allen isn't becoming what we think he's going to be, and then you start looking at the coaching first and foremost.

No doubt Brady is a huge part of their success, but they went 11-5 with Cassel under center when Brady tore his ACL in game 1.

That’s a totally different team. Let me go through who was on that roster that surrounded Matt Cassel. Are you ready? Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Benjamin Watson, Matt Light, Logan Mankins, Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Vince Wilfork, Adalius Thomas, and Brandon Meriweather. Not even going to mention the vets like Harrison, Bruschi and Vrabel that were on their last legs.

The Patriots team now has nothing at wideout, no pass rush and an aging secondary. I know you have PTSD after all these years but recognize what this New England team is. They were a bone headed offside call from losing to KC last year. Brady has been carrying them for years now.
