Beane is a big proponent of competition for all roster spots. Signing “cannon fodder” and “camp bodies” doesn’t up the competition across the board. Competition brings out the best in all. I consider this a “competition signing” rather than a “depth signing”.
In my mind, the difference in those words matter.

Our defense and scheme are strong. If we have a top half (16 or better) offense, we can make a deep push in the playoffs.
While Diggs is a super great addition to the offense, the improvement needs to come from Josh. If he becomes just an average quarterback this year (14-18 rank), we are going to be dang good as a team.
I am soooo freaking excited. -
Only if he cut his hair.

I am still trying to get used to being happy with the Bills’ off-season moves.
Football is fun when it is done well.

Awful trade. Diggs is a good player, not a great one. The Bills gave up way too much to get another guy who is basically a slightly juiced up John Brown. Giving up a first was awful, the package is worth the 18th pick overall, I’m not at all impressed, looks like Beane got locked in and lost another trade.
Is this true? Not the first part of the post. That part sucks. But the second part of the post - the part that says the assets given up for Diggs equal moving up to the 18th pick. If that is true, then this pick was fabulous.
Why? Because most mock drafts would require a move up to 15 to get Ruggs, the third best receiver in this year’s draft. After Ruggs, the talent level - while still high - drops off to a “Less Than Diggs” level.
so it comes down to this: With Ruggs costing us more to get than us getting Diggs, is Ruggs better than Diggs? Maybe. Probably not. One thing for sure is that Ruggs won’t be better than Diggs right out of the box because the NFL is hard.
Is Diggs as good as Diggs? Yes. Because Stefon Diggs is Diggs.

Unless you have Pro Bowlers at every position, you can always upgrade.
...but are they All-Pro?

Low 90s for me. Good personnel moves and drafts that show quite a bit of potential in spite of their youth combined with said young teams consistently punching above their weight class gives them a 92 from me.

So many targets within range of multiple picks. Is this how Rex feels at Old Country Buffet?

I love me some Dawson Knox. And I agree with the commentator in that he is a Jeremy Shockey type - brute force aggression.
and I never understood the “Cody sucks” comments. Do you remember the amount of shade thrown at Dawkins? And now we all have love for him. Ford will be much better this coming season.

An example: Randy Moss (one of the top 3 receivers of all time) was selected Round 1, #21 in the 1998 draft. The last pick of the third round that year? Hines Ward.
Query: Is it logical to mortgage the future for a Moss when a Ward is available later on?

Daboll is a good OC; it was the poor play of the offense that held HIM back, not the other way around.

" If you come to Buffalo you'll become the best version of you that you've ever been before, on and off the field"
not sure this is accurate. I flew in for a game and I ended up drunk @#$& my pants and woke up wearing women's underwear.
Are you sure that isn’t the best version you’ve ever been?

If Chris Simms had done the interview, the “jean tightness” would have become excruciating.
In the best way.

For the O: Lee Evans. For the D : A Schobel.
If, this off season, we add two players of about the same quality as the above mentioned, the improvement to the Bills would be greater than the sum of those two players.

...and why would the Bills want to land Olsen? Anybody on that list is preferable to Olsen at this stage of his game. Kroft and Sweeney have more upside than Olsen right now.

why does Allen need a fire lit under his ass and why would Dalton be the one to do it?
“Hey Bob. What should we do about this raging inferno?””I dunno....throw a match on it?”
as for why Dalton, maybe because he’s a ginger?

Is it strange that I wanted both teams to win?

Full disclosure: After the Pats won the Super Bowl over the Rams (Drew’s injury year, Brady was the backup) I thought that we would get Brady - the plucky backup - as our QB as the Pats wouldn’t keep both, and Drew was their “franchise”.
I was mistaken.

If you look at every profession treating the elderly, children, disabled, th percentage of priests as pedophiles is accurate to every other group. I am not in anyway giving a pass to these monsters, but the real crime is the church not either 1, sending him to prison for the person’s acts, or at the very least sending to a monastery somewhere like Portugal to have to pray 16 hours a day for life, and if he does not comply they out him.Being a devout Catholic, it makes me sick the church continued to hide these bastadges, and not punish them for life as well as the payouts. I went to Catholic School my entire young life, and never once did I ever feel a priest wanted anything but to help me.
I understand the vitriol as it is horrible what these individuals did, but the church hiding it embarrasses me as a devout catholic. I can only add if anyone, including a priest hurt one of my three children in this manner, God help them, as I will show no mercy. I’m not one to talk tough, but this behavior is repulsive.
My prayers goes out to those poor families.
My vitriol isn’t toward Catholic Priests. It is towards the Priests who abused.
My anger isn’t toward the Catholic Church. It is directed towards the Bishops and Cardinals who felt it was more important to protect the Church than it was to protect the children.
Many professions (Dr, Teacher, Nurse, Social Work) are required to report suspected abuse. SUSPECTED. That there are people who claim to be men of god living to a lesser standard is abhorrent to me. Hiding the abuse and looking to avoid negative perception...
I do not hate the Catholic Church. Just that small percentage within the Church who seek to keep abuse in the dark.

The Priests who abuse children aren’t men of god. They are child abusers, pedophiles, rapists, criminals.
Those who help cover it up are complicit in the crime.
That is all.

He is one of the most influential coaches in today’s game. He learned at Green Bay under one of the greats. The success of his coaching tree is second to none. He is the Jedi to Belichick’s Sith.
He just needs a ring as a HC to make it a 100% lock (instead of just a 95% lock).

The excellence of the Patriots under B.B. can be traced back to Parcells and his “Do Your Job” philosophy. Do the basics, do them well. Once the basics are mastered, the complex can be layered on top.
Do you remember Brady and the Oats of the early 2000s? Nothing but hand offs and screens. Basics executed perfectly. Infuriating in their simplicity and the consistency with which the plays were executed. I yelled “How hard is it to stop a screen?” so frequently. That eventually became a complex juggernaut. Beautiful and frustrating.
Some people here complain about our basic vanilla offense. The lack of creativity. Whatever. I believe that we are just working with a bunch of young guys, trying to get them to master the basics.
We have been successful this year. But in the timeline that our exes and coaches have set forth, it was never about this year. This year is just another step in the building of a long term sustainable and successful Bills team.
Viva los Bills.

Edmunds doesn’t suck. Tom Brady is the most successful quarterback of all time. He won his first Super Bowl before Edmunds was in kindergarten. Do you really think that Tom Brady - who has faced multiple Hall Of Fame middle linebackers - couldn’t manipulate the situation via play calls, motion, blocking schemes, and just plain black magic to cause Edmunds to be less than dominant? Tom has seen and sees everything. Edmunds is still emerging from his chrysalis.

Further Offensive Improvement

I agree that they need more offense; I’m just optimistic in that the offense will come from players already on the team. I think Josh will take a step and become an “average” quarterback ranking wise. I think Knox and Sweeney will become very productive at tight end. I think that Motor will excel as the featured back. And most importantly, I think Ford will become a good offensive lineman (RT specifically). I think we did NEED a wideout and that Diggs fills that need. While there might be upgrades at other positions, I don’t feel like they are needs.
but that’s just me.
