  1. This system does not fit Tyrod at all. Instead of creating a system around his strengths, they installed a system where it highlights his weaknesses. For example, against Carolina notice the route depth between our wr and theirs. Cam would drop back either 5 or 7 steps and his wr would mostly have a route depth of 15 to 18 yards. With the Bills, a majority of the play calls are 3 step drops with 8-10 yards per route. Tyrod is not a 3 step qb who can get rid of the ball quickly. For Tyrod, they should be doing the same thing they do in GB. Deep drops, move around in the pocket and take shots down the field. And before everyone starts with "I can't believe you are comparing him with Rodgers" chill out. All Im saying is his biggest strengths are being to buy time in the pocket and attack the down the field. He's proven two years in a row that he can lead a top 10 offense in points with a system designed around his strengths. They should just play Peterman if they don't want to adjust the offense for him. It is a complete disservice to him and the team to have him in this type of offense.
  2. Thanks Kirby. The hindsight argument does have some merit. I had Willis ranked as a top 15 player. Still would have taken Watson over him at 10 but def had him two rounds early. Biggest miss was Bucky Hodges, had him going in the 2nd round. Still can't believe he was drafted in the 6th round. The other guys I had them pretty much where they were drafted so much wouldn't change. Also I would have the benefit of other scouts and a draft board where I would have known that Hodges could be drafted in 5th round. I understand that its much easier to sit here and play armchair gm than the actual pressure of really doing it live. Still fun to see a couple years down the line how the projections pan out.
  3. My bad, no 91. If I had to swap out 10 for 27 and keep 91 I would have gone Budda Baker. We will see in 3 years what happens.
  4. 10. Deshaun Watson QB 44. Jordan Willis DE 75. Shaquill Griffin CB 91. Carl Lawson DE 117. Blair Brown LB 156. Bucky Hodges TE 195. Robert Davis WR Lets see whose draft class is better a couple years down the line. My money is on me.
  5. 1.Mike Williams: Eagles 2. Corey Davis: Bills 3. Malik Hooker: Chargers 4. Oj Howard: Jets 5. Mitchell Trubisky: Browns Bills Pick: Corey Davis
  6. So the best way to scout the 1st round is looking for the freak athletes that have elite production at the collegiate level. When you check the marks on both of those boxes you usually get a very good NFL player Pick 10 Jordan Ross- literally the fastest player ever at the combine. Elite production his senior year. Tape looks amazing. Should equal a pro bowl player. Injury concerns are the big red flag with this prospect. OJ Howard- absolute freak of a man. Huge and stupid fast for his size. Now I know the production isn't what it should be but I think it is more about opportunity. When it mattered in 2 national championship games he was featured and produce very well. Huge target in the middle of the field. Even Tyrod can see him. ;-$ Jordan Willis- destroyed the combine yesterday. Elite production at Kansas st. (11 sacks). Coach from KS thinks the world of this kid and supposedly a high character guy. Also was the south MVP at the senior bowl. Gonna be a big time player in the NFL. Jabrill Peppers- new age hybrid safety linebacker. Seattle and Denver are drawing the blueprint where speed is the name of the game. With a passing league you need you need your safety/lbs to cover. He can also tackle. The lack of int's is concerning but he has a ton of pass break ups. Again injuries are a concern here. Round 2nd- Bucky Hodges- TE from Virginia Tech. 6'6" 257 4.57 forty with very good production. Former qb which means he understands coverages and where to get open. Don't know if he lasts to pick 42 or whatever but I really hope so. Tape looks great as well. Think a Ross- Hodges combo would be pretty interesting for rounds 1&2. Ross and Watkins on the outside with Hodges-Clay in the middle of the field seems like it would be hard to stop. Esp with McCoy and the ol we have
  7. "Passing is king" refers to how a majority of NFL Offenses rely more heavily on the pass then the run. The point I was trying to make is if you are trying to design a defense it would be most effective to draft/sign personnel that is geared to stopping the pass. It does not mean that a heavy rushing offense with a dual threat QB cannot be just as effective. An offense is as effective as how many points it scores. And with Tyrod we have an offense that is just as efficient as any in league. Clamoring for Cardale is extremely puzzling. We have absolutely no idea what kind of QB he will be. This is a guy who couldn't start for his college team. He's going to lead us to a top 10 offense in the NFL? I don't think so. I can't stress how important this decision is to keep Tyrod. After 17 years of futility on offense we finally have something that is elite. And now we want to not pay him and change course? Makes no sense. I have to think that Bills management would never let something like that happen. Right?
  8. Cause he actively follows this board and is waiting to take advice from a random fan. QB: Are people on drugs not wanting Tyrod back? Thru 15 games we were 7th in points scored. When is the last time we finished top 7 in points the last 20 years? I'll be waiting for an answer from the Tyrod haters. Please spare me with the passing stats. If you don't want to include his rushing stats in the overall qb performance you are analyzing the data incorrectly. Again, the single most important metric for judging a qb is points scored. If the argument goes well everything around Tyrod is top notch (ol, rb, wr, te) and an average replacement will do the same then week 17 should give you pause. I have to believe the Bills brass knows what they are doing and would under no circumstances let him go. The only possible replacement that would come close to his production would be Romo and he is one hit away from IR. Just keep the kid here and everything will be ok. I'm done if they don't pick up his option. Coach: I don't have a problem with any of the guys they are interviewing. Again, we have an offense that is successful. Keep Lynn and Tyrod and you know you have a top 10 offense next year. I hope the lesson was learned with Schwartz. Hopefully Lynn can bring in a coordinator that can improve the d. Gus Bradley's jags d didn't look like anything special. The one guy I think deserves an interview is Mike McCoy. That is a good football coach who will be successful the next time he gets a HC opportunity. It was a well coached team in San Diego and he really got Rivers going after a couple average years. Not saying he should get the gig over Lynn but at least an interview. Lynn should be the choice. He's everything Ryan was not. Draft: The Adams kid from LSU looks like a player. Would be a good pick if he's available at 10. But In the new NFL where passing is king the two edge rushers on defense become paramount. You need two very special athletes on either side to really make a difference defense. We have one in Hughes but we need one on the other side. I don't think Lawson is that guy. The kid from Alabama Tim Williams looks like one of those guys. We will get a better picture of what type of athlete he is at the combine but def someone to look at for pick 10. Seattle's blueprint looks like the best for defense in the new NFL right now. Lots of zone, rush 4 play 7 in coverage. If hide two edge rushers don't create havoc you are dead. The reason it hasn't worked for the other teams that have copied them is they haven't drafted those special athletes on the edges. You look at Denver and Seattle and those edge rushers are so quick and force the qb's to get rid of the ball right away. I think Williams is one of those guys. The only other guy I really like is OJ Howard. Think they can trade down and still get him around 20. The Patriots a couple years ago realized how important a big explosive Te can be. They don't look for one, they look for two. It just creates so many mismatches and it helps with disguise on offense First they went Hernandez and Gronk and now with Bennett. So 1.Adams 2.Williams 3. Howard
  9. The coaching of Tyrod Taylor yesterday was atrocious. Gave the guy 90 million dollars to just run the ball all game. Yes, the Ravens defense did a great job but Roman called a terrible game. It's hard to get in a rythem with so few passes early in the game. Teams are going to key on him every week. Stop Tyrod, nite nite for the Bills offense. If you know the other team is going to do that then you have to become very aggressive with Tyrod early. Should be a 70%/30% pass run ratio early in the game going forward. Roman should have attacked down the field every play early. Check downs to McCoy are always there if the coverage is good deep. They talk about imposing their will thru the run game. Well impose your will thru the pass game because Tyrod is engine for this offense now. He caught teams on surprise last year. This year he has an X on his back every week from opposing coaches so it is up to our coaches to trust him and put the ball in his hands. This is his show by giving him that contract. Let's get out of his way and see where it goes.
  10. And the Bills don't take him they will regret it. Spare me with all the talk that it is not a need position. Draft dynamic football players that can be game changers. The kid fits the bill. Elite production at a big time college program. He holds the record for tackles for loss in a season. Add an off the charts athlete and you have the makings a big time d tackle. I mean he is 285 pounds and ran a 4.65. Are you fing kidding me. That is insane for a man that size. All I could do is hope...
  11. it will be absolutely gut wrenching if they take this kid in the 1st or 2nd round. Just watch the USC tape, he is not an accurate passer. We just He is massively overrated from a very average college program/conference. Think about it, we need a QB to compete with Brady, Manning, Rodgers, etc. He is the key cog in the master plan to turn this thing around? I'm done if they draft this kid. Hopefully it is all a smokescreen. Sorry, needed to vent!
  12. Geno Smith- Jets Cordarelle Patterson- Vikings Tyler Eifert- Bears Luke Joeckel- KC Dion Jordon- Jags
  13. Spiller, Stevie, Wood, Levitre, Bryd, Klye, and Darues are all good picks. It's not like the organization doesn't have talented players. The whole thing comes down to good coaching combined with an elite QB. Need both to win championships. If u don't like draft day I don't how u watch the season then. It is the only hope we got.
  14. So bad, the absolute worst thing you can say about a QB is he gets scared in the pocket. After Tommy Kelly on the Raiders called Kolb out in the preseason game all hope was lost for Kolb. He's injury prone, gets sacked at a high rate, and when he does play the stats are mediocre. The ghost of Rob Johnson is upon us. Just thinking about Kolb being the opening day starter makes me queasy. Same old ****, just different packaging. I really hope they incorporate some read option with Jackson. Defenses are so good there is only a couple QB's out there that can just sit in the pocket and destroy u. I know I am gonna get flamed for this but I liked Fitzpatrick and Gailey. The defense is what cost us under the Gailey program. If he could have hired a competent DC he would still have a job. As for the draft, I thinks teams in the top 10 really dont want to take a QB if theyhave another prospect ranked much higher on their board available. That is why you have seen 3 teams in the top 10 go sign or trade for veteran QB's. Maybe 4 if the Cardinals get Palmer. Say the kid from Utah falls Star Lotulelei falls to us can we really pass? Glad I am not making the decision. I think they have to take Geno Smith if he is there. Won't be surprised if they take Manuel at 8 either. Just a tough call all the way around. The 3 players that I really hope fall to Buffalo is Lotulelei, Jordan, and Ansah. Think all of those guys are elite pro bowl players at the next level. Excited for the draft, best time to be a Bills fan.
  15. Newton-Panthers Gabbert-Redskins Miller- Bills Carimi-Eagles Rudolph- Giants
  16. 1st-Nick Fairley 2nd- Justin Houston I just read the KC Joyner article on Fairley and was surprised. Im skeptical on most of his metrics but the fact that he compares favorably to Suh is a very good sign. Also the fact that his tape actually shows that he is a high effort player and not a "lazy" player that most pundits claim. Add to the fact that he is an unreal athlete with a mean streak and it seems like he is a 5 star prospect. With Houston you have a freak athlete with production (10 sacks) at the highest level in college football. Usually those things equate to a all pro. Thoughts?
  17. I know i know, questions about his character and leadership are valid. But with that being said, "Vince Young finished his Titans career with a 30-17 record (63.8%) over five years. During that span, the Titans compiled a record of 15-18 (45.5%) without Young." The guy wins football games pretty much 2 to 1. And the same team is 500 without him. I dont care what u think about him u cannot argue those stats. It is getting close to 2 decades without a winning QB here in Buffalo. Also i big reason on why Young makes sense is it gives us the flexibility to draft two top defensive prospects. Preference for a QB starts in this order... Newton @3 Mallet @34 or Vince Young in FA
  18. you mean it is hard to throw tds in a passing formation???
  19. he threw 16tds this season. can someone who watched all of his games this year explain why he threw for so few? they passed a ton (over 3,500 years) and didnt have a dominant rb. listen people ill will believe the hype with this kid because he's tall, strong arm, accurate(65%) and intelligent. but the 16tds this year sticks out as a major red flag. please advise.
  20. Just curious, what is Vince Young's record as a starting QB in NFL? And watch the the film, Newton is much more of an accurate passer. He is bigger, stronger, and faster. Also watch an interview with this kid, there is a world of difference between him and VY. The kid was 18 and he took a laptop, give me a break people. God forbid someone do something stupid at 18.
  21. C'mon people, talk about the spread and not being able to read defenses till ur blue in the face i dont care. This kid is mike vick on steroids. Honestly, i dont think he makes it past #2. My favorite part of the clip is 3:46. This mothef***** takes off from the 6 yard line.Unreal!!!!! Sorry for being a Cam Newton Homer, this is a once in a decade prospect and we actually have a chance to get him. And please people stop talking about the one year wonder. This kid has been the #1 at three different levels now (high school, junior college, and NCAA). The Maybin comparison is terrible, Maybin did nothing his first two years at Penn State. Whenever Newton has been on the field he is been the best point blank.
  22. i will be devastated. Please people to not compare him to Jamarcus Russell they are completely different players. Every time this kid goes on the field he goes into legend mode. Watch him carefully; he is very accurate which is the most important skill to have as a QB . Also his ability to avoid pressure is a premium skill in the NFL. I know many will comment about him not being able to read defenses and that the spread offense doesnt translate to the NFL. But look at someone like Ben Roethlisburger. He doesnt read defenses like Brady or Manning. The thing that makes him such a great QB is his “escapability” in the pocket and keeping plays alive. Also by all accounts the kid is intelligent and extremely good kid. Newton is exactly the type of player we need to change the culture of losing that has infected our Bills. I have a feeling he doesnt last till 3 after the combine and individual workouts. I know people will argue about him only producing one year at Auburn but look at his pedigree. The #1 high school player in the nation, the #1 Junior College player, and #1 College Football player in the nation. I know this team has a plethora of holes and Fitzpatrick is a good football player. But a transcendent player is needed to win a Super Bowl and this kid is that player. And if he gets taken at 2 that is fine those are just the breaks. But if he is there at 3 and we pass it will be gut wrenching and Bills fans will live to regret it.
  23. the closer to Qualcomm the better. Thank you
  24. his nickname should be the same one his teammates gave him when he was a freshman at Stanford, "The Truth." I mean, doesnt that perfectly describe what everyone on this board feels when they watch him on Sundays.
