Really, BillyWhiteShows/Phil the Thrill/Thunderstrike/BuffaloRush?? What the hell is your game? Why all the screen names? Previous ones have been banned, yet you keep coming back thinking no one will catch on. FYI, your ip gets banned next time you go too far. Currently, these 2 incarnations are towing the line -if alarmingly schizophrenic. You’re fooling no one.

Anyway, Monte Ledbetter (obscure WR) came to talk to my tyro football team in the ‘60s. My math teacher knew him (she was a Bills Groupie), asked him for me and he came. He was the most obscure Bill for me.

Thank you for your contribution to this thread

  2. Looking back at your years of fandome, are there any obscure or little-known Bills players or coaches that you’ve met. For me, there’s a handful of players and coaches:

Mark Maddox - Met this dude over at the old Rainbow Mall in Niagara Falls.  It must have been 1991 or 1992 because I remember there were actually stores open!  Including a Trench outlet store!  He was injured and on crutches but very nice and friendly.  It was an autograph signing and there must have been about 10 people in line but it didn’t seem to get him down. Very cool guy

Keon Carpenter - I had to interview Keon for a local newspaper about the Bills season.  Very nice and professional.

Gabe Northern -  A monster at LB for the Bills during the 90’s.  Always thought he was due for a breakout season.  Never happened but he was a solid player in the Bills 3-4

I think everyone that's talking about how bad the commercials are are missing the whole point of bad commercials. They keep people talking and bringing up the dealers name. May not make you want to buy a car but when you need to you'll remember where to look.

Reminds me of the trucking companies Yellow and A. Duie Pyle

Yeah but it was actually comedic and not so lame, more people would talk about it.

I agree.  How many teams have a tough time filling the seats like the three in FL.  The veiled threat comment in yesterday’s article is silly.  The NFL may want a new stadium, but the owners do not have to do what the league wants.  They have autonomy as officially. the Pegulas are Goodell’s boss along with 31 other owners, not the other way around.

Besides, in 2023 there will either be a new stadium, or $500 mil sunk into the current one.  Some fans forget they renovated Arrowhead, Soldier field, and Lambeau field.  I don’t worry about it as I feel confident the Pegulas won’t move cities, but find a solution in Buffalo.

The bigger question is, do they remain in Orchard Park or move the team downtown where a number of Pegula owned properties and investments stand to benefit.  I will bet anything that if all things were equal, it would be the latter

    Not true.

-There is currently a class action concussion/CTE related lawsuit against the WWE

-the WWE was sued by wrestlers challenging their status as "independent contractors" who were not provided health insurance and other benefits, etc.

-several wrestlers have sued the WWF over non-compete clauses after they leave the WWE--even though they are considered "independent contractors", not employees deserving benefits.

-the widow of Bret Hart sued WWF after his death. settled for 18 million.

-sued by various other wrestlers (Ultimate Warrior) over "intellectual property" rights to their characters

-Jesse Ventura sued over owed royalties McMahon was withholding.

Anyway, WWE viewership is in a free fall and business has a legit competitor now (AEW, backed by another, more wealthy billionaire--the Jags' Shahid Khan and weekly broadcasts on TNT).  It's an odd time for McMahon to put so much capital in yet another go at a non-NFL pro league.

Viewership is in the toilet and I’d bet that live attendance is down too.  What saves WWE from a business standpoint is the TV right deal which continue to increase.  But if numbers continue to fall, it makes you wonder if that will continue.

I’m not certain that AEW will be a competitor but if they can deliver ratings on TNT, I think WWE is in trouble.

I was a big fan back in the day but my viewing has decreased over the slowly past decade.  I haven’t watched the product in over a year and don’t really miss it.  3 hours of Raw is unwatchable

All the "egos" are scripted characters.  Nothing like managing actual egos/athletes.

You don’t follow the industry close enough.  There are huge egos in the industry.  Vince does a tremendous leading and managing the talent - many times getting them to perform the crappy ideas him and his creative team write

Why is that?  He’s employed by the team...  whether you agree with what he’s saying or not, it’s probably happening if he’s saying it

Thats so not true.  He makes ridiculous predictions all the time that never happen - same with John Murphy .  I’ve known this for a while.  I believe it was right be for Chan was fired he alluded to the fact that Chan would be returning.  Fortunately no one took his word as gospe just because he works for the team.

Chris Brown is on One Bills Live and doing a dissertation on Dawkins having that role locked down... as a mouthpiece for the team, I’d say unless he screws up off the field or otherwise we can put that discussion to rest of him moving positions.

I put very little stock in what Chris Brown says - and you should as well.  With that being said, I think he’s probably right here though.

After discussing Jerry Butler, I suppose it triggered another "moment" from the Bills past. The 1981 game against New England where Joe Ferguson and Roland Hooks  "Hooked" up and beat the Pats. I remember that the Bills were down...I remember turning off the TV thinking the Bills would come back If I did. Sure enoigh they did! Does anyone have the video? Please post it!

Roland Hooks?  Who?  Never heard of him

Are you forgetting Tom Donohoe, Marv Levy as the GM, Ralph for his choices for hires ( yes I love Ll the good he did here, but he is culpable for this drought as well ), and Greg Williams?  Then we could also add Chan as well, but he was given a severely limited roster.

Sure put Donahue up there... Marv was not really a GM.  He was more of a figurehead.  Also he was a product of Ralph’s terrible hiring decisions.

I won’t put Willams or Chan on the Wall.  They were not good coaches for HC but really never should’ve been hired in the first place

...I'm probably DEAD WRONG, but I think that was the root cause of many OBD problems...even Marrone professing it to Brandon is what got him hired but he flew the coop......I cannot underestimate players throughout the drought NOt knowing the gang of misfits ala "F Troop" were running the  show...

I agree with that.  The problem is, it doesn’t necessarily guarantee wins but I think that McDermott is efficient and well-organized and at the worst he won’t embarass the team.  Sadly you couldn’t say that about other coaches and management

  11. According to good old Mike Florio from PFT, Josh Norman could be a Cap casualty if Washington can’t get him to restructure.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/05/31/could-josh-norman-be-a-post-june-1-cap-casualty/

If this happens, do you see the Bills taking a shot at brining him to Buffalo?  He’s 31 years old but can still serve as a capable starter for a few seasons.  There are many connections why I think this move would make sense:

Brandon Beane was likely involved in the selection of Norman in Carolina.

Norman excelled in McDermott’s defense and his best years came in his defense.  Carolina wasn’t the same team when they let him walk.

Norman knows the defensive scheme we’ll and is a good process guy.
