  1. This. Probably to be expected that his doctors would be exercising an abundance of caution. Damar is really not that far removed from the physical trauma his body went through. He is on the road to recovery and we can all be very happy and dare to be optimistic that he has more of a future in front of him. Damar has gone on record with how much he loves the game and it was his dream to play in the NFL. I imagine that he would love to watch and cheer his team on this weekend. I could picture him asking, but seriously doubt the doctors are going to let him near anything to keep tabs on the game. Watching this team is exciting, but it can be hard on the ticker.
  2. Agree. Bad things happen, and it is human nature to cast about for a scapegoat, but there does not have to be a villain pulling the levers. Won't stop folks from looking. I am glad they cancelled the game, I appreciate that there were medical personnel there to quickly respond to the event. I appreciate the City of Cincinnati, the fans, coaches, and players who were classy and caring hosts. I am just hoping for the best for this young man. That's enough for me to focus and keep tabs on. Other folks will do what they do.
  3. It sucks, but having to figure that out is kind of his job right? The show must go on and all that... and he is the one that has to figure out all the rescheduling. This has just been the weirdest season I can recall. A lot of sports out there that involve contact, but I have not seen anything like that (in football) since Everett went down. I recall nothing about that game after... just the injury and then I guess there was a game. My thoughts were just on that kid. I think the NFL handled this far more appropriately than in the past. A shout out to the Cincinnati team and city for being very classy, caring, and considerate hosts too. God speed Hamlin's recovery.
  4. And they ran on us, limiting our TOP, keeping Allen and our offense cooling their heels. They had the ball over 7 minutes longer than we did. They then gave that blueprint to the Jets the following week where we lost. The Bills have figured some things out since then.
  5. Jones literally does a suplex body slam of Wilson and the whistles and flags are silent. So much for protecting some QBs.
  6. Was shaking my head watching Denver's center just totally left a 400 lb sumo DT run right by him to crush Wilson... The dude was lined up right at the gap he rushed... how can you miss that blocking assignment? Was not even a stunt or anything disguising the rush. Will never understand when an OL player chooses to double team a guy that is being blocked while letting another DL player come through clean. Can get it if it is a loop or stunt, or a shift that puts a DT in a gap and confuses the protections. Denver does have issues... still want them to beat the snot out of KC. Would love to see a KC turnover right now.
  7. I have rarely seen the network rules analyst go the opposite direction of the officials on the field so often during a game. Said Wilson had forward motion on the throw that was ruled a fumble and it ended up ruled a fumble. Said it was not OPI when they called OPI on the Sutton reception. Their rules analyst does not sound like he is on board with the calls going down on the field. Same pick play just to the left, and that is not an OPI. This crew blows.
  8. Home cooking... OPI on that Denver play? OMG... Kelce does more pushing on every one of his catches and that was an amazing reception. Cook grabs Sutton's arm and he pushes his hand off himself so he can make a great contested high point play on the ball. Terrible call.
  9. Would have liked to see that replay of the alleged hold. Looked like KC's rushers got caught inside and lost contain on that run.
  10. Yep. On the last KC drive for a TD... Oh.... is that sarcasm? I am a bit slow today; Still recovering from the refreshments from last night's New Years Eve. 😁
  11. Kelce falls like a rag doll to draw the DPI and gets it. Then they praise the KC TD play where it was a clear pick without even an attempt at disguising it. It was not a rub created by a route, rather a straight-up block of the DB in coverage well beyond the allowed yards beyond the LOS. KC getting some favorable calls so far today.
  12. Alright. I thought with the spread that the talking heads would land about 50/50. But at least a little love our way.
  13. That hit looked legal to me too. And I am not a homer for either team. I just felt he led with his shoulder and did what you do to try knock the ball free. It was a big bit. It was a great game, where Georgia lost contain and allowed a long run by Stroud to set Ohio up for a makeable kick for the win... that they missed. Both teams played like they belonged there and it came down to the wire. It is tough to walk away from the wrong side of a close loss.
  14. Yeah, the Bills are not getting the love for this game. Most say it will be close, but I have yet to see anyone pick the Bills. But, if the Bills care about the respect and the number #1 seed, they let their play on the field do the talking. Go Bills!
  15. The idea behind that is that the Bills need to groom Morse's replacement. As he has and is going to miss time due to concussions and it is one of the essential positions on the OL to lock down. Mitch signed a 2 year extension through 2024 if his health holds, but smart money would have been to pick up his successor on the cheap so he has some time to back him up and learn the ropes. A good choice would be a high end prospect that could man C and G spots in a pinch while he learned. Good centers don't usually hit FA and when they do they are not cheap. Creed would have probably been the better move for this team's needs. Nothing particular against Boogie, just that he seemed to be a luxury pick where we had a clear team need at interior OL that Creed would have fit.
  16. Hard just to look at the draft, and not look at the FA successes of this FO. Beane's team has really nailed some FA acquisitions that put this team over the top as a post season regular. Thinking of Diggs, Beasley, Brown, Morse, and this season Jones, Settle, Lawson, Von (before the knee), and Phillips when healthy all have been solid contributors. A little more iffy on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. With Crowder hurt before he really got going, Saffold struggles, and they bring in a lot of FA RBs when that position has often had a backseat role in this offense....just a bit of a head-scratcher. Hines did solidify a punt return role that was very shakey with McKenzie back there. The hindsight on signing Bates to a relatively cheap 4-year when Chicago was kicking the tires seems like a pretty shrewd move now. And Ike signed to a one year prove-it deal makes sense. A lot of scrutiny for a front office that has generally done pretty well fielding a competitive team. Our secondary took a beating this year. Injuries to both safeties - one out for the year, Tre's recovery time, and rookies and depth players at DB and FS that need more time to bake before they can be counted on as difference makers on the field. Perhaps a bit of a gamble that sandwiching rookies between the investments up front and vets behind them would hide the growing pains in coverage. Could've worked, but we lost Hyde in back and Von up front and we have a tendency to give up a lot of 3rd and long plays when the rush does not get home fast enough. All teams have to deal with the unexpected injuries, or areas where they are thin at quality depth.
  17. Slow day at the office for most of us and draft is always a magnet for critique with the benefit of hindsight. With the way our cap is we will need more draft picks that can contribute early on rookie deals. The luxury of 4 years to start to see results from picks is just not there anymore with the skyrocketing cost of retaining premier players at key roles. Of course teams stash their projects on their practice squads, and good teams (and former OCs) keep tabs on all those guys. There have been some misses, and the wiggle-room for those shrink as our cap tightens. All competitive teams struggle with this cycle.
  18. I was hoping for Creed, and was so happy when he fell to where we could nab him that any other pick was jaded for me. Boogie seemed like a reach to me, but then again so did Oliver where they picked him. I can't fault this team just for the misses though, when the same evaluators are the ones that targeted Groot when other teams whiffed on him. They do tend to find more than their share of projects that need long runways to get up to NFL speed. Oliver again seems to finally be coming into his own after being pretty underwhelming his first few seasons. That really bites into the cap advantage of riding out the rookie deals with guys that can contribute early.
  19. I have looked at some breakdowns and Dorsey is scheming up crossers and rub plays, but often the execution and timing is just slightly off. It is taking some time for this offense to come together and Allen makes it a bit hard to judge where it is at. He does so much off schedule both amazing things and some bad that it is hard to tell exactly what Dorsey us trying to scheme up at times. I understand that Allen just has to create on the fly sometimes when pass protection breaks down or everything is covered. I liked the adjustments he made last game when it was clear the ball was slick and the wind gust made passing difficult and Chicago could not stop our runs.
  20. I agree we have won, but I think if Allen can embrace those quicker throws and opportunities beneath the sticks and we run the ball well, it will present more single-coverage opportunities for Diggs and Davis, and coverage mismatches with Knox. Keeping Diggs happy is important for this team too, so they need to find ways to keep him an active part of their game plans.
  21. Agree with this. Much of the lack of RAC is on Allen as a passer and how defenses play him. Allen is not a QB that looks for the layup first then the 3 point shot. His focus almost always is routes beyond the sticks before he would consider anything shorter. There are some short timing routes that dictate that he throws a quick pass on schedule. Defenses play him assuming the intermediate to deep passes - usually rushing 4 and quickly dropping most everyone into shell coverage keeping any completions in front of them for limited RAC. Some leave that LB or S with speed to mirror/spy Allen to ensure he does not take off. We do not have the kind of receivers that will make defenders miss and can generate RAC providing Allen hits them in stride and they have that opportunity. Our best RAC receivers will be our RBs. Cook, Hines, and Motor. They can all make folks miss and generate RAC stats, but Allen has not quite embraced those easy underneath outlet throws. Also I don't believe the Bills have introduced many designed receiving plays for them yet. The more Allen forces himself to take those layups and works on his short-throw touch and accuracy, the better it will play out for our receivers downfield as teams will have to commit more to stop throws beneath the sticks. Right now, I think most of our opponents feel that gamble of leaving that part of the field virtually undefended is worth the risk.
  22. He never said anything negative. Another thought may just be that all three of those QBs get a lot of media attention; It stands to reason so would the guy planting them on a pass rush. If Von likes the spotlight.
  23. Regarding the Chiefs, Andy and Spags go back a ways, but he has been a HC before and went on record in 2021 saying he would like another shot at HC. Usually Eric Bieniemy's name comes up each year for interviews and not Spags... It would be nice if the Chiefs org had a few significant coordinator defections to overcome.
  24. True. But he probably has his fingerprints on some of it and likely found an OC that shares his mindset for offensive play calling and scheme. Much the way that McD would not likely bring in a DC whose scheme did not align with his defensive philosophies. Point was more a correlation of teams abandoning the run and losing. I think run/pass balance in this Nickel Tampa-2 heavy league is key to offensive consistency at least consistency getting into the red zone. After that, defenses adjust to the shorter field and you just have to have the dominant line or the skill players, schemes, and execution to punch it in.
  25. And here is Allen showing Jones how to go big or go home. I like the way he just glances at the flag on the ground as he is walking away like he could care less. Allen has some attitude. https://youtu.be/cHAlVd254bk
