  1. I dunno about the retaliation angle...just think the opportunity was there and the Jets were taking shots all day. You could queue up all the tackles that kickers have attempted to make over the years for a good laugh and most of them are pretty darn fugly...so no surprises that Hauschka reverted to a soccer-type tackle that missed...probably more a part of his background than NFL form tackling. Can't imagine anyone on the Jets feeling threatened by that...probably got a lot of laughs during film reviews. If Hauschka had more leg on the kickoffs, or if the directional kicks that McDermott mentioned actually went in a direction other than right into the Jets' Andre Roberts' hands, and if our Special Teams coverage wasn't so damn bad, it would not have come down to him having to try to make the stop.
  2. Meh - Nothing to see here. Jenkins is scrappy and I don't mind that, but the Jets were laying a lot of late lumber out there yesterday and more than a few classless hits. Nothing excuses blindsiding a kicker, or all the late hits for guys that were obviously going out of bounds. Last time we played the Jets they also executed a really dangerous blind-side helmet to helmet hit on Teller. Just cannot dredge up sympathy for these guys. He just needs to stop whining. Chop blocks you just have to look out for as a defender and they are used a lot to get a guy off his feet and are only illegal if the defender is already engaged (I confess I did not see the play he was referencing). Now crack-back blocks are another story... You want to see a really dirty crack-back block... search for a video of Frank Middleton's hit on the Bills' Sam Cowart (a linebacker that I thought was on the path to being one of the better one's the Bills have ever fielded) - pro-bowl bound that year, but he was never the same after that hit, ruptured his achilles trying to get back out there in 2001 - bounced around the league for a while. Truly cost him, but he said he had no hard feelings - not sure I would have felt the same.
  3. This. He had several nice touch throws, and then there was a screen play where he had too much time to think about taking the heat off his throw and it was way short. Josh looked worse after he got hurt - no excuse, just an observation. Not sure where or how he is hurt - I am sure if you asked him, he would say everywhere. I would like to see what Josh could do behind the kind of protection Darnold had today, where he could survey the field and get into a rhythm without feeling like he was on the verge of getting planted in the ground. I think we need to go after some veteran FA o-linemen, because the whole group of youngsters out there now lack leadership and are skittish as colts, and a veteran presence can go further to improving these guys than any coaching will. Then fill in the gaps and depth with the draft.
  4. Betting ligaments all around the ankle...done either way for the season. Takes a long while to heal just to be able to just take your weight, not to mention the kind of change of direction you need at his position.
  5. Bad because of the timing and situation. 3rd and long and the team needed the stop and he did not get it done, beat by his man in the end zone after the Darnold scramble, gave up another long gainer I think in the 1st half. Just not a great day for our lock-down corner. He'll bounce back. I think they missed Taron J. out there today, saw Bush singled up a few times - usually a couple steps behind the receiver. This team is pretty banged up.
  6. Lost in the mayhem of disappointment was the fact that White had a really bad day in coverage. That is uncharacteristic, but happens to the best of them.
  7. Fair assessment, but I can see him getting better game after game with NFL-level coaching, and McD confirmed he was gimpy by the half. He has been taking too many shots - I actually think he takes less when he runs, but you have to build an offense that can pass from the pocket. Also does not help when you are down to your last running back who is the size of a smurf.
  8. Usually absolutes are not true - he needs to learn from throwing from the pocket, but staying in the pocket is not an option more often than not. Sure there were times protection held up, but that is by far not the norm. You cannot watch Josh and not say that he is learning. OBD has to fix his protection, give him some more weapons, and then he will learn more.
  9. McDermitt pissed with the Special Teams... Crossman is going to get the same talk KB got.
  10. Oh well, hope the better players get healthy. OK that came out wrong - hope all our injured players get better. I thought the Jets were hungrier after they got spanked. Darnold is a more polished passer than Josh, but that was not unexpected with the coaching he had in college. I still like our kid's ceiling, but he needs to be able to feel like he can stand in the pocket without getting crushed. Special Teams was abysmal, and our defense seems to fold more often than not when the pressure is on. The Bills were playing with their 3rd and 4th string players and made a game of it without a single power runner left on the roster. Changes are a'coming this offseason. Expect an infusion of talent - some jettisoning of coaching staff. This should be a fun rivalry to watch develop over the years. Did Bowles save his job today?
  11. ST's had us starting with bad field position all day.
  12. Yep - he misses his gaps still. Will get better.
  13. For what this game was actually worth for this team's record - the loss of the many players sucks for naught.
  14. Yep... if that was one of our receivers we would be back-slapping, and hand slapping. It was solid, and White has been tested today.
  15. We have some slow blinkers on D. What the heck was Reggie Bush doing pulling their RB over the sticks instead of pushing? It is less important to get the runner on the ground than it is to stop his forward progress - sheesh
  16. Murphy looks like his spandex underwear is a bit too tight when he is running. Damn he is slow - needs to stretch more or something?
  17. Maybe Hauch does not have the leg after all... you usually squib like that if your kicker lacks the leg to get it into the end zone.
  18. Nice Josh... he has it. Will take time - keep the faith!
  19. Is Ivory done? If so, that really limits the options on short yardage
  20. the way they have been hitting folks late and such... Karma kicking in.
  21. We had a fast start and lost a ton of players... it changes how you play. We already know that our o-line blows... let's keep this in perspective folks. Josh needs to get out of this game alive and learn from the mistakes - that is pretty much it. That being said, the Jests are really the biggest cheap-shot artist I have seen in a while in the NFL...
  22. rookie bad call from our head coach - so you think he asked Crossman, "hey Danny, is our kicker good to go?" then got the thumbs up?
  23. Why is he not letting that bounce into the end zone? I have been a bit slow to blame ST play, but they are truly poorly coached.
  24. Was wondering the same thing - you have the Jest blitzing to throw Allen off of any timing. It is the oldest playbook out there for playing against rookie QBs... someone lost contain out there on the rollout. Props to Darnold for salvaging a rough start to his game.
  25. Watching from the midwest...maybe they are smart enough not to show it anywhere near b-low
