At the risk of diving much too far down the rabbit hole...and also being wrong...
I think that your GP has a larger legal and ethical responsibility to the overall well being of the patient than a consultant does (outside of an actual hospital setting). So yes, if Mahomes GP came out and said he is healthy enough to play there would be ample weight behind that, because the GP is beholden to Mahomes actual well being. But no GP would ever come out and say that their patient is OK to play 7 days post concussion, because they aren't. There is a reason that there are lots of waivers involved. The seal of approval to come back post concussion and play in the NFL is basically "well you probably wouldn't die on the field".Great post!

I searched Google for pinched nerves. Looks like it could linger, or be gone in a few days.
Interestingly it said that it can cause numbness in arms and hands if it's in the neck. I'm having trouble buying the whole pinched nerve thing. Looked like a concussion to me but who knows.
Look - I get it, it is hard to buy considering a few variables. One is how violent football is in general and how often concussions occur. Two. Mahomes history of concussions. But just because it isn't likely, doesn't mean it isn't possible.
Link of Source - this source might explain it as well.
i tried to explain that in my case in the gameday post yesterday, if i turn my head in a awkward way to the right or left - i sometimes can start blacking out a bit and get dizzy. I actually thought it was more blood flow, not a nerve.
-
So let me ask anyone willing to answer.
If Mahomes doctor's come out and say it wasn't a concussion. His head twisted in a way to pinch a nerve causing momentary dizziness and blackout. We put him in concussion protocol to ensure his safety and he passed all the tests in a short period of time and he is good to go.
Would you even believe them?

The head doesn't need to hit the turf to have a concussion. There's a recent video that explains this
I didn't say it needed to but was responding to the poster about the head hitting the turf, when it didn't. that is all.
Thanks for playing

If he didn't hit his head then what body part bounced off the turf in this clip? Are we not calling that his head anymore?
It didn't hit the turf at all. More like bottom of face mask hit his hand/ball but not with crazy force.
Watch the 3rd replay in the video.

Thank you!
Starting to have clarity of what actually happened.

People shot down your take because you stated (or similar to this): that you sometimes have similar issues (legs or limbs numb) when turning/contorting your neck...
Nobody knows what thr deal is yet, and the nfl doesn't put mahomes in the protocol. It is a team physician and independent neurologists (hired by nfl).
Eh whatevs...
I don't care anymore.
People on the net just want to be right about their opinions. Me included. I voiced mine and they voiced theirs.
And my take in relations to contorting the neck is just using my own experience to explain something. Guess I am the only one that understands it.

One of the youtube doctors described this as something similar to hit to the carotid artery in MMA. Basically you suffer an instant loss of blood flow to the brain for a split second which causes you to look like Mahomes did. Which I think was definitely the case on this play with how the defenders arm was wrapped around Mahomes neck.
As for any other damage that may have been done in terms of a concussion is something we are going to have to wait and see. Obviously he's in the protocol so they believe he suffered one it's just a matter of how bad it is.
Funny thing is....
When it happened yesterday I posted it almost immediately that it wasn't a concussion (by the definition of concussion of brain hitting the skull) and basically described what the Youtube Doctor did and I was basically thrown under the bus by some posters here about how wrong I was. And When Mahomes was in concussion protocol i had to basically admit I was wrong even though I didn't believe I was.
I think the league put him in concussion protocol due to perception. The team could not well know what happened until afterwards and evaluating him.
Mahomes will play and will clear protocol quickly. That is just my take.

Well they just announced out for the game with a concussion
Alright - i'm wrong. It happens. Luckily my life doesn't change because I make a wrong judgement.
Didn't look like a concussion when I saw it.
All good in the hood.
On to the game- 3

I am legitimately confused as to how you’re constructed anatomically that turning your head too much in one direction causes you to lose consciousness.Im not automatically.
I looked at the tackle in slow motion and in real time.
The defender had his forearm right on Mahomes neck through a lot of the tackle and at the end you see mahomes head turned opposite of his body direction.I put two and two together in my eyes.
If i am wrong, i am wrong. But i do not think it was a concussion.- 1

It happens to me too. Sometimes. I get my neck bent backwards against hard turf by a 200-lb db and I go limp and can’t stand and have a dazed look. But I usually get right back up and finish loading the dishwasher.
LOL I feel ya. Sometimes it happens to me and Im like woooooaaahhh this is fun, then I come two.
But the trainers just grabbed him real quick and got him off the field thinking the worse

so sorry your so wrong you don't know it...
Where did his head hit anything?
There is no indication his head hit anything.
If anything he got chocked out.

Hahah. No.
Tell me where his head got hit at any point in the tackle?
I will wait.
If you never had circulation cut off by turning head the wrong way then you can not really understand.
But all good. I will wait and see if I was wrong and If I am, then so be it.Just calling it like how I saw it and experienced it myself

Yeah the way he got up if he comes back I'm calling some player health BS.
Not a concussion.
No hit to the head.
As i said in an earlier post when it happened that it looks like he had his neck turned to constrict circulation.
That happens to me on occasion where i turn my head to much to left or right and I basically black out and when i come back my body is like wtf is happpening and I am a bit out of it/dizzy- 1

Thats not a concusssion.
That looks like he had his neck turned wrong to cut off circulation.I have that happen to me occasionally when looking to the right or left to long or a weird position. And it basically puts you to sleep.
Edit: It blacks you out and you wake up a little out of it and dizzy.

If we play the Chiefs, which it looks like, our offense will need to come ready to score some points.
But, the Bills really need to balance the game plan. Run some draws more offten etc.
-
I honestly don't care who we play.

Run the f’ing ball. Why are we not running at all

So correct me if I am wrong.
But narrative around the Bills vs Ravens sounds like this.
How can the Bills contain Lamar Jackson? How can the Bills do anything against this amazing awesome one of a kind man to man blitzing ravens defense?
It seems it is assumed the Bills will fail majority of the time doing the above while the Ravens will succeed at everything they do.
Edit:
They keep saying Ravens are hottest team cause they won 6 in a row.
- Weird, Bills have won 7 in a row.
They keep assuming that since Lamar won a playoff game that he will now have that off his back will just roll through the playoffs.
Because the RAVENS are the hottest team and no one wants to play them......

Question for you all.
Do you all feel more at ease heading into this game?
Not so much that we will win. More so that the Bills have gotten four or more monkey's off their back this year and regardless if we win or lose at this point, I believe most fans will think it has been a successful year to build off of.
1. Josh Allen Pick has panned out and in his 3rd year, has become a legit top 5 QB for the foreseeable future.
2. Won the Division for the first time in 25 years.
3. Swept the Patriots, Dolphins, and Jets for the first time.
4. Won a playoff game in 25 years.
I mean this year has been amazing being a Bills fan and going into this weekend, i am considering this year a success because we all know winning in the playoffs is difficult, more so than the regular season.
I hope we win, but if we don't I am at peace with that as well.- 5

Mahomes passed all tests last night, appears to be pinched nerve, not a concussion

Are a lot of you secretly hoping it was a concussion so he might not play because you are scared to play against him? lol
