  1. Again - when was the last time a local reporter broke a Bills story? The locals live down the street from OBD and they are the last to get called.

The answer - anyone working for ESPN or the NFL Network.

I like Joe B.'s style - he's not as jerky as his station peers - but he does not offer any more insight than any casual observer.

I have asked folks in the media that I know about this. They told me that the majority of the "scoops" that come about a team are leaked by agents. Those agents have relationships with the national media folks because they hold the most influence in getting stories out there that benefit their clients.

Local guys in today's media age have a tough time competing with that.

  2. But to your point, I bet many will appreciate more of a delineation between seats in the bench areas. I've experienced a fair share of "ass creep" over the years from neighbors moving in on my space.

I have to wonder if it might be the opposite if the person next to you does not have the cushion as you are sitting raised up a little bit, an inch in from the line of demarcation and the person next to you can "creep" into that inch. The people next to us have the cushions as well so it shouldn't be an issue for us.

  3. Did anybody buy the seat cushions for the season? If so, were they installed and how did you like them?

I did. They are pretty thick, but as you are sitting on them they settle down or compress. I honestly felt like they made my seating area feel more cramped. I may appreciate them more in the winter when I don't have to sit on the cold bench, but the fact that they are about an inch narrower than the seat below on both sides, we felt kind of squished.

Just to add, they made my seat feel a bit shorter as well since I could not lean all the way back into the seat. The back of the seat cushion thing is about 1/2 and inch to an inch out from the metal back.

  4. The mindless, precussive 'auto tune' 'music' played too loudly is sure to drive away fans with any sense of taste

Holy Cow I forgot about the BLARING music. I don't mean to sound old, but what the hell. Sitting in the upper deck, when that music was blasting you could not hear the stadium announcer OR my wife who was sitting next to me.

Has the music been that loud, I haven't been there in a couple of years, but don't remember it being like that.

  5. I have to sadly say I was underwhelmed myself. I'm in the 300 level in the center and concourse situation seemed worse than ever. The line for the concession stands stretched across the concourse in the middle of the first quarter making it nearly impossible to pass. The La Nova pizza lost some it's luster at $7 per slice(!) and the duffs boneless wings were 6 nuggets for $10. That a $9 beer and, well, make your own joke here.

The new scoreboard, while huge was also a disappointment. The area used for actual video is the same size as it had been in the past the extra space is used to constantly stream commercials. The video of the Jan king lady cleaning the glass from inside the board was on so often I stopped looking at the board.

As others said, there was no improvement in the one door bathrooms.

I will say entry to the stadium was easier and movement at least in the lower level was better, but overall I'm shocked people were saying this was like a brand new stadium.

Sorry, one last thought from the wife. There is no longer and clock (time of day) anywhere in the stadium and nowhere on the huge board could you consistently find the time remaining in the game and often there was not a displayed down and distance.

  6. Haven't seen this posted, but it appears that Sal Capaccio will be taking over as the Bills Radio Network Sideline Reporter.

He had been doing the Bills Postgame Show.

Anyone know what happen to Joe Buscaglia? Hopefully he remains as the WGR Bills Beat Reporter.

Joe is going to be live tweeting the game from the press box. They announced it a couple of weeks back. I think Pergament had a column about it in the News a couple weeks ago as well.

He's really good. The Pergament column seemed to indicate the team was moving away from the sideline reporter all together, because with all the commercial interruptions it was tough to get them into the broadcast.

I honestly cannot stand Joe B. He is looked to as some expert, but what background credentials does he really have aside from being an observer at practice? He never ever gives a straight answer (so damn wishy washy) and I thought he was a Packers fan anyways. He claim to be Mr. FSU, yet I don't even think he graduated there.

Lastly, I'll never forget how he was reporting Nassib and Barkley to Bills last year - nice insider info!

Sal would be so much better

What qualifications could a sideline reporter have besides spending tons of time with the team? There is no college degree in sideline reporting.

  7. I fear this for my son all the time. He is 13, and growing up with on demand porn. No matter how many blocks we put in place, rules restrictions etc, i know that these kids can find it somehow, someway. He denies it, but i am not buying it.

I talk to him all the time that porn is just like COD and any other video game, it is not real life, and it is not how a relationship works. It is just pure fantasy. He nods yes, he says i get it, but i know they will struggle with it as he gets older and starts t in relationships.

In all seriousness, think about how difficult that conversation would be for the parent of a girl growing up at a time when on demand porn is influencing the perception of the whole generation of guys she will be dating.

    It's kind of scary.

  8. Haven't had season tix in a while but have them now and am debating about getting the $160 parking pass for the season. So this ends up being $16 a game for the Stadium lots.

    Questions:

How early do the lots fill (meaning close)?

If I wanted to go to Hammer's Lot instead, how much is it and how early would I need to be there to be able to get in.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tim

  9. I would assume the reason for letting the JBJ group replace their bid with a non-relocation clause is a back stop so that TP doesn't offer less. The thing is ... if they all kept quiet about who pledge what, we could be done with the other process and the binding bid would be in with everyone not know what others had submitted.

I agree, the leaks of the bid amounts (and all the leaks throughout the process) have really screwed the Wilson Estate over in terms of maximizing the sale amount. Pegula is not going to overpay and he now knows that 1.3B may not even be necessary. The trust looks desperate trying to get other bidders, but folks know that they are being used just to jack up the price and have no real interest.

  10. I just bought my seasons tickets this past Friday. Got the individual tickets in the mail yesterday. Has anyone heard if those who get the individual tickets are entitled to the discount at the store and other perks associated with the card?

    Thanks in advance.

I was told by someone who did not seem very sure of himself that we would be mailed some sort of discount card in the near future and when I asked about the free Red Zone subscription he said they were still waiting for "codes from the league".

  11. I can see it now -- I've been harmed because I have to suffer the indignity of handing a paper ticket to the gate attendant, while other ST holders mock me and wave their fancy cards in my general direction. It's humiliating.

    I feel this way... :bag:

First year as a sth since 1990 and I have these plain, jane football helmet tickets and no card to get me a discount at Moe' or in the Bills Store.

    I feel left out.

  12. Bob,

Exactly! I turned on the radio today specifically to hear about the 3 on 3 games at development camp. I want to hear how our first rounders(!!!) look. I could not CARE LESS which Bills players are bringing their own refrigerator or what video games guys have, or the Goodwin has only his Bible and playbook.

On MONDAY, once actual practices are rolling, then I'll happily listen.

WGR will have 4 people there, onsite throughout the first week of training camp and then 2 for the entire rest of camp.
