Josh has become the poster boy of the Back Handed Compliment. You'll never read a narrative that praises him without pointing out his short comings.

Favre always got that too. Josh could win a ring this year and they'd open their rankings next year with the same caveats..."we all know the bad comes with the good with this young gunslinger but herp derp". It will likely never stop so I'm learning to enjoy it.

  2. He's going to put up a monster game this year. I have no doubt that there will be a few bad games because it's just part of the Josh Allen package right now, but I could see some eye popping stat lines before the year's over.  There are some soft games as well as some potential shootouts, I'm looking at both the Chiefs and Cardinals games for the latter. And he's going to face the Jets again. Gonna call a 400 yard passing 100 yard rushing game, 4 TDs combined.

I read this time and time again on this board as though there is some obsession with Josh throwing for 400 yards or more.

If Josh is throwing for 400 yards or more, that likely means we're losing late in the game and Josh is piling up alot of garbage yards in the 4th trying to catch up.

If you don't believe me look at Dak Prescotts 400+ yard games

Or it could be we're just finally keeping pace with Mahomes, Jackson, Murray, Wilson, etc? Kind of hard to find the negative in a 400 yard passing game. There's a pretty solid correlation between record passing yard games and victories. Former blowouts should become shootouts if we now have a QB that can keep up.

Based on the job he did in 2017/2018 - yes. Based on the job he did last year.... not so much. I give him a lot of credit for what I saw on SNF. Was only 1 week but he has learnt from his mistakes of last season when he sort of became the worst kind of "I am going to force my scheme onto my talent" coach.

Sorry honest question, what was the issue with him last year? I'm only seeing he went for 90 catches and 1134 yards.

Love the Hines Ward comparison. He's getting there statistically YOY now as well, he's a great wide receiver. Too much time has passed to maybe say we'd be "better off" but it's hard to argue that somebody as good as him wouldn't compliment.

Agree that Allen looked great. The Jets are one of the dumpster fire teams this season. No one credible thought they’d be good.

Yeah you're probably correct in regard to "nobody credible", but it took two seconds to find that walterfootball.com as recently as last week declared that they thought that the Jets "had a chance to reach the playoffs" pre Jamal Adams departure. but again you're probably right.

I do love all the gifs and memes all over social media of josh missing the td throw, so everyone thinks allen is trash. But if they watched the game (which no one watched the bills/jets game other than true fans) they would have seen no other qbs absolutely man handled the defense today like allen rodgers Wilson and Jackson did. That's good qb company to be in.

Baker laid an egg. Darnold laid an egg, again. Rosen is practically out of the league. Rejoice Bills fans.

  6. This offense carved them up today. Josh was in total control. Of course he needs to correct the errors, but there was no question of who was the better QB. And that's a division rival.  For all of the hate I definitely remember many thinking the Jets were a savvy playoff pick a few months ago, but now they're just the Jets since Adams left, or something. I'll take Josh Allen in a wild shootout with any team, turnovers included.

  7. I absolutely love how just about every talking head Twitter "sports journalist" dork is making the same tired joke about Allen's endzone overthrow, in a desperate attempt to keep their 2018 projections intact, while he goes off for 300 yards, multiple scores, and an 11-6 regular season record since the start of last year. It's like they're in so deep with their awful takes that they can only double down on their Allen hate at this point.

    MVP-MVP-MVP

  8. B+ is a solid score, I agree. I think it's alright to dock him for the two fumbles, an A+ requires total perfection.

But man I am so excited, Allen is an absolute beast. He may be a true MVP contender. We're quibbling over B's or A's while our 1st round franchise QB goes off for 300 yards and multiple scores and yet another W. We've come so far. I may be a little off with his first year stats but I think he's 17-12 as a starter now, and I know for sure he's 11-6 in the regular season since last year. He's one of the best in the AFC already, let's go.
