I just got home from watching the game live at SoFi. A few observations from the stands:
- Not a good showing for offense or defense, IMO. They both allowed a crappy Chargers team to stay in the game.
- What's up with Diggs? Has it been a few weeks now that he just seems off?
- Gabe Davis looked like the best player on the field tonight.
- Last week I was impressed with how well Joe Brady play-called. He found things that worked, and stuck with them. In this game, he found things that didn't work, and stuck with them anyway. That frikkin' jumbo package with Edwards in as a sixth OL-- always announced as an eligible receiver-- hand-off to the RB in whichever direction Edwards was taking up space for around two yards. It was infuriating. By the middle of the second quarter, I said to my 13yo, "they gotta stop running that play..." And they never did. Every time we'd hear the ref say over his mic, "number 76 has reported as an eligible receiver," my son, and I would look at each other in exasperation.
- Having both Phillips, and Epenesa out was huge. Daquan Jones can't come back soon enough.
- One thing that was pretty incredible, that I was not expecting: Bills fans literally outnumbered the Chargers fans, and were literally twice as loud. The players must have noticed this.
I was at the game too. It almost felt like a home game. Bills fans everywhere. Really impressive.-

Do we want the Raiders or chargers to win? Raiders are closer to the Bills in record but do we want the Chargers to fall further so they are unmotivated the following week (tank).

Just beat the Cowboys. Go from there.

Beating Dallas would really get the snowball rolling downhill.
Playoffs have already started. KC was definitely a playoff game.-

It has to be hard coming up with speeches to try and motivate players on broad concepts like communication year after year. You see it every season on Hard Knocks. Cringe worthy speeches by coaches and players. Think Winston’s eat a W or Saleh’s raven speech.
With that said, it is easy to avoid 9/11 references. I have given McD a lot of latitude but it seems like his EQ is low. I’m okay with moving on as soon as possible now.

Deserve and what moves the ratings needle has nothing to do with each other. Also, ESPN wanted to hype that game they were broadcasting later that day.

Agreed. Last 10 Super Bowl winners had late bye weeks.
Schedule is an algorithm basically. The only thing we can complain about is the London game. Bills were culpable to some extent leaving so dang late. Ravens left on a Monday.-

Honestly, that game is going to be a mess of drunken people. Depending where your seats are, get inside early. You get to chill, watch warm-ups, sometimes Diggs plays catch with kids, etc. The tailgates and the stadium as a whole are sadly no place for kids. My sons’ memories of that age (my fault) are remembering the beard full of puke, the boobies on display, etc.
If you don’t yet have seats, scalp in the 225 section (s) these are “family friendly” and the cursing is really low and no booze allowed at seats. You can get beers in the pub directly behind this section of you want . Good luck. Hope he has fun.
