I believe it's high likely that Benjamin, Jones, Kerley, and Holmes make the roster. That leaves, at most, two spots open.
So the question becomes: who takes the final two spots?
Brandon Reilly
Ray Ray McCloud
Austin Proehl
Robert foster
Malachi Dupre
Rod Streater
Quan Bray
I don't think Holmes is a lock...
I'm going to make a prediction right now three months from Game 1 that Reilly makes it... I think they like him and he seems to be leaking "process"...

I would rather the Bills win than be right about Nathan Peterman. But I am right about Nathan Peterman. I was right before the 2017 draft, right before he got on the field and I am right now.
Haha..
But were you right about the Giants trading down in the draft?

So you do believe someone that has posted nearly 22,000 times in 5 years doesn’t care about the team’s success? Good take...
Don't be so passive aggressive..

I’m certainly not alone in this or sensitive. You made the suggestion that “those don’t think he is good would rather be right than the Bills succeed.” That’s what I called you on. That is a ridiculous assertion. Everyone here wants what’s best for the Bills. We can still have opinions on players. That’s what the message board is for.
Well, that's my opinion and for the record I am not only addressing your good self...

It is possible to improve and it looks like he has. I’m certainly not always right and never claimed to be.
I do have an issue with your passive aggressive approach. If you want to challenge people on their opinions, go for it. Don’t say this:
Can I say though, that it seems to me that there are a couple of posters here that have already made up their minds about him and it appears that their hubris dictates that they would rather be right about their opinion than have him improve for the betterment of the team.
If you have a problem with someone’s opinion address it. Questioning that anyone here, wants anything other than what is best for the Bills is absurd. I have posted 21,547 times in 5 1/2 years on this board. Do you really think that I’d rather be right than the team succeed?!?
Passive aggressive... give me a break...
You are hardly the only person in this thread to have criticised him... so in making a general comment I need to address everybody individually?
Seems you are a touch sensitive... -

I’m assuming that I am one of those posters that you are referring to? Yes, I have made up my mind that he will never be a good NFL QB. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong but I’ve seen enough to believe that I will be right. I hope he turns into Aaron Rodgers. I just don’t see it. I don’t care to be right. I care that the Bills win.
Ok great...
You have an opinion like all of us but I assume you are not right 100% of the time.. If you are than your opinions are wasted here...
I also think it is possible for a QB to improve, particularly a rookie going from his first season to the next.. Do you?
In respect of Week 1, I don't care who the QB is provided that person is the best option on the team at the point in time.. If that's Peterman than fine by me...

McDermott isn't the type to waste time. When he knows something doesn't work he moves on right away. Look at all the trades he made, look how quickly he fired his OC, look how quickly he gave Tyrod's backup a chance and how quickly he went back to Tyrod. If he didn't have some level of trust in Peterman he certainly wouldn't be wasting time giving him 1st team reps. He more likely would have outright cut him.
McDermott said today he wants to have the starting QB declared by training camp or during training camp. Allen has taken less than 10 total reps with the 1st team offense so I personally don't see him being named the starter that quickly - they're bringing him along slowly, as they should. That leaves McCarron and Peterman as the potential starters and there's no reason to think that competition is just for show.I second this...
I don't get why some are saying that Peterman has "no chance" to be the starter Week 1... He is probably still the outsider behind AJ , but from the media reports I am reading on here it appears that he is going well in practice.. What else can he do other than that at this point in time?
We still have to go through the camp and pre season games so there is a long way to go... If he has "nervous issues" as others have said than he is going to be found out through that process..
Can I say though, that it seems to me that there are a couple of posters here that have already made up their minds about him and it appears that their hubris dictates that they would rather be right about their opinion than have him improve for the betterment of the team...-

I don’t think we are really arguing about anything. Tyrod wasn’t a good passing qb. AJ McCarron was sitting as a free agent for a while. He’s only played for one of the greatest college teams ever and a few games for a loaded Cincy team (they only lost one game when Dalton got hurt that year and had a top 5 receiving core). Allen facing a huge learning curve. And our wrs might be he worse in the nfl. Not really a stretch to think this team might struggle offensively.
So nothing new then?
They cant be much worse on Offense if the OL is going to hold up even to last years below average standard like some people here seem pretty bullish on...
Defense might even better...
Not sniffing a two win team like some of the media doom and gloom merchants are saying..

Wait until the season starts...
No matter whether he is riding the pine, League MVP or somewhere in between...the TT fans or haters will be able to say "I told you so"...

I dont see the concerns at OL and WR. Not saying they will be great units but compared to last year I believe the WR core will be better. The OL lost Wood a couple of years ago and Groy stepped in and there was no notable falloff. Also a 4 year starter have ben brought in at center. Richie may not be so easy to replace but at 35 there was no guarantee that his play would stay the same.
The biggest question on O will be the QB play. Could it be much worse? The team was was 27 in TDs and 31 in yards.
The 4 year starter was offered back up money, and his current team was happy to let him go...
The OL might turn out Ok, but I think people can have concerns with the loss of a couple of decent players from last year and some questionable replacements brought in...

What's funny is that last year was being criticized as a tank year after moving Sammy, Marcell, Woods, Gilmore, Gillislee among others. They dumped some big salaries along with some not really worth the money players, and yet the team made the playoffs.
Still, the key point here for 2018 is the Bills lost Center Eric Wood, all pro LG Richie Incognito and traded away Cordy Glenn. Meanwhile, the FO didn't upgrade any of those positions in the draft. Plus the team moved away from the running QB who could neutralize a somewhat bad right side of the line with his scrambling ability. Now.this year the team wants the QB's to be strictly pocket throwers with a much worse line.
Things could get really ugly really quickly and make that 5 INT's in a half by Peterman look like a normal occurrence every game this year. Everything is going to depend on how that offensive line can hold up this year or if this FO can pull off a Buddy Nix and find some usable bandaids off the waiver wire like he did with Erik Pears, Kraig Urbik.
Walterfootball has the Bills picking #2 behind Miami in the 2019 NFL draft. If so I think the Bills are taking a bunch of offensive linemen in that draft.
The OL is the biggest question mark for me in 2018 and looks on paper the area where the Bills are weakest..
They did draft Teller in the 5th who looks a reasonable prospect ( but it would be a surprise if he is an early season starter), but they had the opportunity to take Tyrell Crosby ( or someone else) in the 4th and overlooked him for what appeared to be a lesser need at cornerback depth...
Can only hope that they are confident in some of the younger guys who were already on the team ( I'm looking at Connor McDermott) who they have earmarked to step up this year...
I'm hoping that they have something else in mind other than Bodine and Newhouse anyway...

Scrubs?
Pay attention to what Vegas thinks about all this; they aren't scrubs and they aren't wrong all that often.
Yeah I get it... you are a glass is half empty type...
Was Vegas wrong last year? Scrubs I tell you..
If only the pain was fading but it’s been one splitting migraine since Draft night..
-
Isn’t it better to be written off by these scrubs and have no pressure going into the season?
Id rather the Bills be the “under the radar” team that might catch some of their opponents by surprise..

My fingers are crossed because I see a Blake Bortles type career for Allen.
So he will get 5th year option and 2nd contract with the Bills?
I’ll take it.. beats the last couple of QB’s they have drafted..

I want to believe ...
But I’m assuming Allen would have been the biggest sports story in Wyoming in about forever... of course the locals are going to talk him up..
Looking forward to seeing what he has to offer though..

It's not just that.....but if you study it....and better yet....just take in the reality that they traded Smith away, when they didn't have to at all...for this guy....it speaks volumes.
Im sure the draft pick and player they got and freeing up some salary cap to subsequently waste on Watkins was also part of the decision..
And it was Smith.... not Rodgers, Brees or Brady..
I read Chiefs planet a few times during the year and they would have traded Smith for a bag of footballs.., particularly after the Bills loss..
oh .. and the playoff loss..lot of anger directed towards Smith then..
-
Not a great signing in my opinion..,
Yes but better than Tolbert if that is the benchmark we wish to aspire to..
-
Yeah... I’m ok with what they have at the moment... think one or two of the lesser names might surprise..
Now OL on the other hand is a different story and Im hoping they can acquire a Guard or Right Tackle from somewhere...
-
Let’s wait for Mahomes to do something first...i got nothing against the guy and I’ll be the first to acknowledge if he is a “generational talent” but at the moment I’m thinking that the Chiefs should have taken Watson instead..
Like they should have taken Kelly or Marino back in 1983... (ouch)..
-
I feel pretty good about them right now...
September might be a different story...

You might be right, but I think AJ is more likely, but what do I know. He has more NFL experience than a guy who throws five picks in one half.
Agree that AJ is way more likely to start based on what we have seen in the past...
I think they need to decide between the two relatively quickly as they are both relatively inexperienced and need as much time as possible to develop some chemistry with KB , Clay and whoever the heck the rest of the receivers end up being...
Why don't qb's wear a mirrored visor like McMahon used to?
