I hope Oliver full body slams him, holds him down, lets every other defensive player taking a flying elbow at him, then let each fan down from the seats to get their shots in too.

I mean, how many flags can they give us?  One, two...?

Right?  At some point those 15 yd penalties become half the distance penalties and then soon we're only talking inches :)

I wouldn't pay that much for him for a 1 year rental.

He does't seem to fit into our culture- fighting with coaches, driving the bus over every qb in the nfl and pulling into camp in a brinks truck

Also he is going to want a FORTUNE come contract time, and I'd rather see the $$ go to Tre D

Culture before skill as far as I'm concerned.  He doesn't fit the Bill's culture.

I won't say it's a surprise, I have always had faith in Josh.  But we were all hoping he would make a big jump in year 2.  You never know until the season plays out.  Josh really seems to be getting a better grasp each and every game.  He's smart.  He's athletic.  He's big.  He has a cannon.  And he has swag.  What else would you want in a QB?  Go Josh!  Go Bills!

I think he'll have a hiccup in a game or two this season.  And I'm not talking about a mistake here and there, but a couple of games where he slumps.  I think it remains really important for the fans to continue to have patience with Allen as he grows and matures.  We might be seeing too much too soon and I hope we all temper our expectations some.

The best measure of Allen’s progress will be head-to-head.

2018 was the “Year of the Quarterback,” with five passers selected in the first round of the draft. One of those was Josh Allen, picked seventh overall by the Buffalo Bills. Allen was the third quarterback chosen that year, but a potpourri of opinions had the quarterbacks sorted six ways to Sunday in pre-draft rankings. Thanks to a series of events (and a scheduling coincidence), Allen has the chance to square off against every single one of his main 2018 counterparts this season—the other five of the first six quarterbacks drafted in that year will play against the Bills.

Yeah but...there are 23 other players that factor into the head-to-head, right?

I get what your saying and it would be nice for the Bills to beat all of them, but there's a lot of credit to all of the other kids.

The O-line (and Daboll in his play calling) definitely needs to work on their blitz communication.   Per today's Snooze:

"The Giants blitzed on 16 of 37 drop-backs (counting two penalty plays), or 42 percent. The Jets blitzed 30 percent in Week 1. Allen was 7 of 12 for 78 yards with two sacks against the blitz."

I don't think it's just blitzes.  They were getting pressure on Josh with just 4.

Easy there Cupcake.  This is Josh Allen stuff and what makes him Josh Allen.  Most of us love this though we do cringe a little each time.  He's definitely not as brittle as many of his predecessors (looking at you Rob Johnson and Trent Edwards).  That same stiff-arm embarrased  Ngakoue (I think) on his TD run against the Jags last season.  I hold my breath too when he does that but this guy is the next generation of QB's.  These new kids are built different and this farm boy is pretty darn tough.

And as an another poster said already, if you don't get up in someone's face about this dirty crap early and right away, it's going to continue and get worse.  If it's not of much consequence on that drive, 15 yards is a price they all will pay to make sure their QB is respected and not tossed around by those idiots on the other side.  To say it's "never" permitted is not living in reality, friend.  Seriously.  Wake up already.  Cody Ford is showing he's worth more than just his line skills (which aren't the best but he's so young).  The team loves that, trust me. I'd do exactly the same in his situation.  I'd have pummeled Kiko's dirty behind last season.  I wouldn't even think twice about that (if I were a pro football player of course.  I'm not a little guy and I can hold my own but let's be honest.)

Cody Ford really loves being a Buffalo Bill and I really like that.  We got him and Feliciano on the watch and you bet your rear JA loves that.  They're protecting their QB but they're also saying you better respect the Buffalo Bills.

And it's not like he's getting those all game long or anything.

While the Oline is doing pretty well in the run, I think they've got a ways to go in protecting Allen on pass plays, especially on the edges.  They want to protect their QB, let's start there.

We have ourselves a genuine franchise QB. I too feel 3rd and long in not that big of deal, and that has lots to do with Josh

I was skeptical when we drafted him and had a sinking feeling 1st half of last season.. Felt much better at thened of last season regarding Josh. Saw plenty of stuff in preseason to be upbeat about him. 2 games in 2019 I'm sold.

Coaches had a completely different Offensive gameplan for the Giants than the Jets from what I can tell

The team comes to play. Top to bottom. They appear to be a cohesive unit so far.

Sure felt to me like the O line took a break in the 3rd quarter.  Oh hell, it felt like the entire team took a break i the 3rd quarter.

I will respectfully disagree.  I have said here many times, and some disagree, that there is a difference between accuracy and precision.  The pass that was the pick 6 is a perfect example.  It was accurate, it hit the WR in the hands.  Accuracy is how close you are to a given target, , and by any measure that pass was accurate.  It could have been more precise, i.e. hitting a specific spot.  Now from my measure that throw could have been maybe 4 inches more to the left.  But I'm sorry, NFL WR's who get hit right in the hands (and the pass was low, where it should have been away from the defender)  get paid to catch that pass.  To somehow conflate that with some of the terrible Peterman picks is just looking to be overly negative, in my opinion.

The bad snap.  Snaps are between a C and QB.  It looked  to me (and to Gannon) that the snap was on the C. But again to place all the blame on Allen when, at the least, a poor snap involves both parties.

The other pick.  A tipped ball which is a crap shoot.  And the other fumble that was on him as a said above.

Three fo the four issues were not truly his, but if you watch the half objectively you see that the team was moving very well offensively, and some dumb luck and dumb penalties such as Feliciano kept them from scoring.  Your conclusion that he was Petermanesque, that it was one of the worst halves of football ever by a Bills QB, and so on, is just over the top.  I go back to 1960 with this team and there have been plenty of QBs that have had worse halves.  If you can, go back and watch the replay, look at every throw he made, then tell me he was inaccurate and so on.  If you're being objective you'll find he wasn't.

I agree with you that the pass to Beasely was clearly inside the radius.  It was a tough pass and catch in the circumstance.  The fact that an interception was the result of that play was highly unlikely.  We're giving it way too much time and energy.

@Shaw66 great write-up.  One other observation...5 rookies contributed in a tangible way yesterday...EO, Cody, Motor, Sweeney and Knox....EO and Motor stood out...for the rest there was mostly good and some bad, but this is a pretty good sign that the Bills drafted well.

I missed Darryl Johnson--how could I??? So six contributed.  Watching the film -- DJ did not look lost out there in his 13 or so snaps on D and 15 on Teams...
