  1. Back in the 80's we had two seasons of 4-12 before Marv and Polian came in and fixed the franchise. At that time Ralph took a chance on a Coach with a losing record and a GM from the CFL. The Bills have been a punchline  and a running joke since SB XXV. Everyone in the league knows that our "playoff run" was a joke last yr. Expecting Beane and McDermott to fix decades of futility in a yr or 2 doesn't make sense.  At the start of the season Beane said we were not as far along as some people might think and we were in the 2nd yr of a 3 yr rebuild. Relax let it play out. worst comes to worst Pegula can blow it up next yr or the yr after. The best case scenario is Beane and Co. know what they are doing and some of our draft picks pan out and the Bills are again relevant in the league

  2. I enjoyed reading your Game Summary Virgil. Hope you get better soon.

I don't agree with your assessment with the performance of our D-line, they were gaining yards on the ground at a record clip in the 2nd and 3rd qtr. Primarily running off tackle. Once our LB's started playing their gaps and weren't dropping into their zone our run defense improved. That left the middle open and Rogers was able to take advantage with underneath throws.

As far as our OC is concerned, why we didn't use a quick passing game against GB like we used last week, is mind blowing. It was clear JA had no confidence the entire day. I think screens, swing passes and short throws would have not only slowed down their pass rush, but would have also helped our O-line and given Josh some confidence.

  3. People tend to run faster when they are being chased by a pro bowl linebacker than when they are being followed by a stop watch.  On a more serious note. The kid is proving that he is willing to lay it all on the line. His progress and leadership are impressive. There have been many seasons where our defense has stepped up like they did Sunday only to have our offense settle for 3 points instead of getting a TD. Or only managing a 3 and out after a turn over. We needed Allen to play big Sunday and based on the score and the post game highlights, he didn't disappoint.

You're right, it is up to the coaches to put the players in a position to succeed. But at the end of the day, the players are the ones executing (or not executing) the plays. The PLAYERS are the ones that are jumping offside, false starting, etc.

While I believe there's plenty of blame to place on both parties, players and coaches, at the end of the day, the players are the ones on the field.

If the players aren't performing, isn't it up to the coaches to play the players that do perform, on the field? For Example- Continuity on the offensive line is important to that units success. If the coach switches out the center position every other day during camp and then in preseason, how is that continuity built? It can't be. If the HC decides to put players in different positions, during a game, than they have been practicing at, and plays a rookie QB, I believe he is setting up the QB and the line to fail.

  5. I live in WNY and the teams you mentioned have a much bigger following than Buffalo. From Rochester southeast to Bath and west from there to Jamestown is Bills country. But Many fans picked up other teams simply because they got tired of watching the Bills lose. It has been this way since the last SB loss to Dallas. It is great to see BillsBacker groups from all over posted on the board. Many of my friends are not Bills fans and don't understand how I can be  after the dismal losing seasons and the 4 SB losses. I have raised my son on the Bills, taking him to both preseason and regular season games. But his interest is on the individual players of the team and he has no emotional connection to the Bills. (Thanks Fantasy Football)

I'm with you on the O-line. They were disgusting to watch. At least 4 holding calls, 2 offsides. Drive Killers. Ducasse is always getting pushed back. Miller was sad. Groy was not a leader and they were out of sync all game.

Can't be in sync if they didn't play together all preseason. When Groy filled in for Woods, he had Ritchie and Glenn to help him out. Dawkins is playing frustrated, Ducasse is a sub. Why we continue to pick up the Panthers 2nd tier players is mind blowing. Are they cap friendly, probably.

  7. After today's game I can't help but look back at last year's 3 epic losses to the Jets, Saints and Chargers. Horrible games that were similar to todays, yet we finished 9-7 for the year. We have a lot of things going against us this year. Salary cap hell, Wood and Incognito retiring, New O-coordinator, and lots of young talented players that need to learn the game at this level. The Buffalo Bills have had several collapses over their history. But they always manage to get over it, move on and live to play another day

  8. Going into the season We knew the WR's couldn't get separation and lacked speed. We also knew that our o-line was a work in progress. Allen isn't ready and Peterman was a Pre-season all star. Slow your roll speed racer. We were embarrassed by the Chargers, Saints and Jets and still finished with a 9-7 record.  With the debacle today, I want to know what happened to our defense? A large amount of money was spent on FA's on that side of the ball, to no avail. Am I concerned, absolutely, but its not time to abandon the season.
