  1. It was the worst running game I've ever seen if you eliminate Allen's runs. I thought that was what was inherently unfair to Allen in all the evaluations by outsiders: he had to do EVERYTHING for them to succeed on offense. I think anything that will take pressure off Allen whether it is better running for, you know, real running backs, a tight end that can be productive, a better line, better receivers will make this offense much much better. Then one can fairly evaluate Allen.

Just did this one on FanSpeak. Would have liked to address RB earlier but it just didn't shake out properly for that. Only doubled up on WR with Anthony Johnson because he was BPA by almost 20 spots on the big board.

After watching Pierschbacher get his lunch eaten big time in the game against Clemson, I'd say a big NO even with the 149th pick. Address G and C in free agency or find a T that can move inside. Christian Wilkins from Clemson made himself some money with that game against Pierschbacher

  3. Amen! And don't be afraid to spend some top of the draft capital to do it! Per Eric Wood on Twitter:

Not surprised by how well this Colts O Line has played this year. With 3 1st rounders, an early 2nd rounder and a 4th rounder (not their pick) they have invested heavily into it and it has paid off!

I do not think coaches getting fired is equivalent to suffering since they get paid for each year they are contracted for.  He can go find some work in college football, learn about upcoming linemen and get a job in 2020.

You ever get fired? Had to move your family? Internalize the feeling of failure? Suffering can take many forms. He's a human being. I DO think his firing was merited and I said that. To be honest though, I'd have preferred that he do great.

  5. I try not to rejoice at another man's suffering but I think it was justified. I too didn't think much of the talent but the run game was awful all year (except for Allen). It never looked like they knew what to do to make it better. I think starting over, drafting an O lineman and signing a free agent to bolster it and re-thinking the approach is wise.

  6. For the 1st time in a long time, I feel like the AFC East is headed for significant change.  Gone, I think, are the days of the Patriots being odds on favorites (and rightfully so) every year. Will it happen next year? I don't know if that soon (it may depend on Belichick and Brady and how long they are willing to stick it out and whether the teams below make significant gains this offseason)  but for the first time in forever I feel like the Jets and Bills both have legitimate NFL quarterbacks.

The Jets jumped ahead of the Bills last year to the 3 spot to take Darnold. This preemptive strike, in my opinion, has put them ahead in the chase. He already has a big time wideout in Anderson and tight end in Herndon. After seeing some of his throws here at the end of the last game, I for one was impressed. Tremendously accurate, great throw after a scramble. for a td, and a commanding presence. Is he perfect? No. He has INT's and might fumble a little  but I think he will be very good. I think there are legitimate reasons he was the 2nd QB after Mayfield.  The Jets again will likely pick ahead of the Bills. They may well take the top O lineman if available. They have more salary cap space then the Bills do in 2019 and will be chasing offensive linemen and receivers just like Buffalo. Is NY a better place to play than Buffalo? I don't know. A lot may well depend on who the new Jets coach (and perhaps GM are). I doubt with Darnold in place the Jets will have to settle in the coaching department. It will be a job a good coach might want.

The Bills have a better D and can stop the pass. To me that is critical in this age of football. Can they fill in enough holes on what I view as a borderline expansion level of talent on the offensive side of the ball to be able to throw the ball with consistency and score through the air? To me NFL football is about passing and stopping the pass. The best teams can throw it and get consistent chunk yards and score with it. Not just occasional big plays but consistent movement. Having a really good O line helps immeasurably. Having a good running game to keep teams off balance helps a lot. The Bills have neither.

This off season (after getting their QB) to me is the most important in a long long time. The AFC East power vacuum is ending. It is right there for them to jump legitimately in the hunt.

  7. To me it was Corey Thompson. He looked totally lost. Didn't fill his gaps and ran himself out of plays etc. I would imagine communication wasn't great either when Julian Stanford went out early in the game. Young free agent undrafted types playing vs veteran Pats team is a recipe for disaster. Not trying to totally exonerate Edmunds who clearly struggled too but I think it was a collective linebacker failure. Sort of the same on O with rookie QB throwing to rookie free agent types with only 1 2nd year player who doesnt seem to know when a back shoulder throw is coming.

  8. I look forward to what the Bills offense looks like when they have an actual legitimate running game to go with Allen. I think all kinds of things will open up. Being totally dependent on Allen's running to have any semblance of balance and for his contributions running near the goal line to have any kind of a red zone running threat is a lot to put on him. It's a heavy lift for him every game. I admire his efforts every week. The more talent they put around him the better he'll be.

Red is the color of extremes. It’s the color of passionate love, seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure. Our prehistoric ancestors saw red as the color of fire and blood – energy and primal life forces – and most of red’s symbolism today arises from its powerful associations in the past.

Red is also a magical and religious color. It symbolized super-human heroism to the Greeks and is the color of the Christian crucifixion. Red was almost as rare and as expensive as purple in ancient days – a fact that may explain its magic and power. Paradoxically, today’s intense red dyes come from crushed insects (the lac beetle and the cochineal).

Does your favourite team wear the colour red? It may explain why they are usually among the best of the best.

If your into psychology and all of that jazz, you may know a thing or two about what kind of effect colours may have in different situations.

According to a study done by British anthropologists and presented in National Geographic magazine, wearing red may give a team or individual the advantage in sports.

"Those who wear red tops, jackets or clothing score 10 per cent more in any competition than if they were in another colour."

Experts believe that red could make individuals and teams feel more confident as well as being perceived by others as more aggressive and dominant.

Red's pre-eminence emerged from a study by German sports psychologists at the University of Munster and reported in New Scientist magazine.

They showed video clips of taekwondo bouts to 42 experienced referees. One combatant wore blue, the other red.

They then showed them the same clips but digitally manipulated the clothing to swap the colours.

The fighters wearing red were given an average of 13 per cent more points than when they were blue.

Scientists at Plymouth and Durham University analysed the fortunes of 68 top English teams between 1946 and 2003.

In home games, where teams generally wear their signature colours, those with red strips won more often than expected.

make the switch, new era next year with allen starting from day 1.

Red is the color of the Arizona Cardinals. A 60 year tradition with blue and white is fine by me. Just another damn Nike marketing device.

Bodine is backup caliber at best, I can see why CIN wasn’t too upset about letting him go. As a starter, he’s the type of player that you are always looking to replace. He’s better than Groy as a backup, but that’s about it. The Bills need to be able to protect the middle of the pocket so Allen can climb it and make plays. If they don’t fix this weakness, he’ll be taking off running far too often.

Totally agree! I see center as in crying need of an upgrade. For me, Allen, Foster, Croom and McKenzie (in packages but perhaps not as the 1st guy out there), Dawkins, Jones and maybe Teller. I think guards are going to be brought in and it will be a fight for Teller to see the field.

If you don't have family counting on you, go for it. Just leave a suicide note to Beane and McDermott.

I've reconsidered and decided for the entertainment of those here I'll just stab myself in the eye with a cocktail fork, light myself on fire and jump through a table.

Since we have multiple 7th round picks, that would be fine for a RB.

  12. Absolutely loved some of the throws he made last week! Both TDs to Jones were fantastic. I love the athleticism (surprising me weekly) and the compete levels. I just want to see if the missed open receiver  throws are repeated or if there are less of them. I want to see what happens when D coordinators start game planning for HIM to take away his strengths (and not because he's a rookie with weaknesses). That by itself is a good sign. I'm beyond cautiously optimistic. How high is the ceiling is my question. What's he like with improved O Line and receivers?

I don't really like listening to Murphy, but the refereeing was horrible. The shots to the legs/head Josh was taking after the play was horrendous. The PI on Zay non catch, Bush penalty questionable at best. Hughes held the entire game. Not blaming them for loss, but it was bad

My comment was from 9/10 after game with Ravens not yesterday vs Miami.

I did a quick count and I'm pretty sure we are up to 6 games with double digit penalties.  I know it seems like the refs are out to get us but those are negative plays that kill our drives and keep the other teams drives going.  It's just way too many penalties.

Inferior players getting beat by better ones. They reach, they grab, they block in the back cause they're beat. Our O line and special teams are dumpster fires.
