  1. Would Seattle become a potential trade partner for the Bills if they have a lust for a major player? Their 2 firsts (total 1440 points) for our #9 (1350), our 4th rounder (70) and 6th rounder (18.6). Leaves the Bills with ammunition to go up still in the first but positions them perfectly for other high value targets in advance of the 2nd round

Harvey was not a coach until Ralph asked him. He took over after rauch got fired. I know I played football with Harvey’s son.

Ralph asked him. Harvey said yes therefore he  was a coach of the Bills. Twice in fact. Came from the defensive side of the ball to be head coach. No different than Joe Collier taking the head job after being a position coach/coordinator. Every person that is a first time head coach wasnt a coach until someone offered them the job and they said yes.

Joel Collier was a solid coach especially on the defensive side. His team he inherited was old.

That's fair. He was a very good defensive coordinator. He did inherit a championship team in 1966 and took them to the AFL chanpionship (losing to KC prior to the 1st Super Bowl...I still have the program from that one...there was an ad showing that $600 got you tickets to the Super Bowl, roundtrip airfare to LA and tickets to Disneyland but I digress). 4-10 in 67 and then fired almost instantly after a 48-6 throttling, at home, by Oakland. Given how poor the Bills were for a while thereafter it is likely fair that the team he had to deal with after 66 wasnt good.

I stand by my comments on Harvey Johnson (Record: 2-23-1...best player on the team: mini Max Anderson) and Hank ("they tool the sails out of our wind") Bullough who the players allegedly quit on to get him fired

Start winning football games and you'll see national attention..... if that's really what you care about.

This! Also the national media and most fans do not have a particularly favorable view of Josh Allen (mostly based on the trite "hot takes" regarding him prior to the draft). Frankly too the Bills have almost zero star power. Star power drives ratings and networks can't get enough of it. Hence Baker Mayfield and OBJ are going to be on a LOT in years to come. Winning cures a lot of these perceived slights. There hasnt been much of it around here in 20 years. It's time.

  5. I'm more optimistic than I have been in a while. I agree though with the OP that finding the starters, melding the talent, and getting the culture right to continue might take some time. I also think the draft is huge. They have a number of "prove it" contracts and finding more talented younger players might be necessary to really maximize this year and those thereafter. I thought this was the most important off season in a long time and while it is off to a good start, a great draft might be game changing.

  6. Regardless of whether Bosa, Allen, Q Williams and Oliver are gone by pick 9, there are still Gary, Wilkins, Tillery, Ferrell, Sweat and Burns as likely very good D line/edge candidates available. I don't think the Bills will be desperate or want to offer up prime picks in rounds 2-3 for any one of them. I still see a move down and acquistion of another premium pick to be the way to go when there are so many good players available throughout at least the mid to end of round 1 available.

  7. The offensive line was really beyond bad. That's one of the worst ones I've ever seen here. So many blown up runs, QB's running for their lives, total inability to execute screens and draws etc That's why I thought it was so unfair to judge Allen off of last year. He had to be their running game and lead the passing attack. It should be improved this year but I'd still like more than guys fighting to be starters. Quality linemen on both sides of the ball in the early rounds would make me happiest.

  8. I think there are going to be a lot of quality running backs and wide receivers available from the 4th or 5th round on. There will be a rush to take interior O linemen and edge rushers because there just arent that many of them. That will push categories that have numbers, like WR and RB, back. RB has been devalued some too and, other than Jacobs from Alabama, I dont see a big push for any of the rest.
