I’m surprised by all the McD hate today. Mainly because I don’t think he did anything yesterday deserving of it.

We're so conditioned to him making a terrible blunder that we praise him when he doesn't.

Chiefs hadn’t scored over 30 all season until last night—averaging 24. Until they met Sean's D in the playoffs.

Where's the option to not let his stupid ass back on the team plane?

Every year it's the same garbage with his defense in the playoffs.

0-4 Bills. Sean’s made us a laughing stock again.

Only way to get to where you want is to get over that hump and beat KC when it matters most. MCD has had 4 cracks at it and nothing seems to be changing. Also think any coach could win with Josh Allen, just a matter to what extent. Maybe you take a few steps back, chance are we ain’t going back to being irrelevant as long as he is taking snaps.

With Josh Allen, any coach could win the East and 1-2 playoff games. We need to take the next step before Allen leaves his prime. Sean has proven over and over he ain’t it.

Obviously it wasn't a disaster, but it would have been without the turnovers.

We forced 0 punts in the entire game. ZERO punts.

Ravens were 7/10 on 3rd down. One of those stops turned into a 4th down that the Ravens converted and the other 2 were FGs.

We allowed 177 rushing yards on 29 attempts (excluding end of 1st half kneel down).

The 3 forced turnovers make this a moderately bad defensive game. Without the turnovers this is a historically bad defensive game

Stop the run and pray for mistakes.

Bull crap. Everyone was behind the Dorsey move. And the Bills won a majority of their games with Dorsey. The offense has not been a problem in the playoffs.

And those are not in-game blunders.

You’re 100% right, it’s not an in-game blunder—it’s a decision-making blunder, something that has plagued Sean throughout his tenure. Whether anyone else was on board is completely irrelevant — it was Sean’s decision to make, and he clearly made the wrong one given that he eventually fired Dorsey – albeit a half season too late. Scoring 10 points in a playoff game is absolutely a problem.

Really? Other than 13 seconds, what have his playoff blunders been?

How about hiring a rookie OC to run the offense during two critical seasons of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs’ prime? Remember scoring 10 points vs Bengals? Sean has literally cost this team a legit chance at the Super Bowl for three years running.

Yes, your post correlated Hall of Fame coaches to Quarterbacks.  It had nothing to do with win percentage.  Factually speaking only four QBs ever made the hall of fame without playing for a hall of fame coach. I don't know if you ever play sports, but coaching can stick with players for their whole career, long after the coach has moved on.

I’m not denying that great coaching can elevate players. But the crux of my argument is about causation versus correlation. Sure, most Hall of Fame quarterbacks played for Hall of Fame coaches—because it’s nearly impossible for a coach to become Hall of Fame-worthy without a Hall of Fame-caliber QB. The win percentages are relevant because they show how much those “legendary” coaches relied on their QBs for success. Without their star quarterbacks, many of these coaches struggled to rise above mediocrity. The numbers don't lie.

I'm no football guru but why the hell would he leave a gig like he has with JA?

Brian Daboll couldn't wait to leave because he hated Sean. Unfortunately for him, he didn't get the Chargers job with Herbert and got stuck with Danny Dimes. I don't feel the same tension with Sean and Brady but who knows. Considering there's only 32 NFL HC jobs in the world and no guarantee he'll be offered one again, a lot of coaches make the leap. Ben Johnson seems to be rare these days.

    It was typical bully journalism.

Writing an article that’s a collection of uncomfortable truths may be considered a "hit piece," but it’s still a collection of truths. If you, the reader, can be objective, you’ll find it informative, as it exposes behind-the-scenes issues and leadership flaws. And who can forget the reference to 9/11 terrorists as good teammates? Yikes.

  10. To think, not only did Sean give Dorsey, a rookie OC, the keys to the Josh/Diggs machine in their prime, he also kept him on for another half season after scoring 10 measly points against the Bengals. People talk about Sean's :13 blunder as his biggest mistake, but this one is up there.

    Williams

    😵‍💫

I know you're being intentionally disingenuous for laughs, but...

Every single one of those coaches makes the playoffs with Josh Allen. Every one. And if Phillips had Josh from the start, he likely remains the Bills coach for a very long time and wins a SB, possibly multiple – making the hiring of the others completely unnecessary.

But since we're playing that game, how many seasons would Sean make the playoffs with Kelly Holcomb, J.P. Losman, EJ Manuel, Alex Van Pelt, Trent Edwards, Thad Lewis?

Case Against Eli Manning as a Hall of Famer

    1. Career Wins

    117-117 record: A .500 win percentage.

Comparable to Jim Plunkett (also a 2x Super Bowl champion), who is not in the Hall of Fame.

    For context:

    Cam Newton: .528

    Andy Dalton: .519

    Jake Plummer: .507

    2. Passing Stats

Completion percentage: 60.3% in the passing era.

    5% lower than peers.

    Tied for 59th all-time.

    3. Individual Accolades

Pro Bowls: Only 4 in 16 seasons.

    All-Pro selections: Zero.

NFC Offensive Player of the Week: Only 4 times.

    4. Turnovers

Led the league in interceptions 3 times (2007, 2010, 2013).

9th most interceptions in NFL history.

    5. Playoff Performance

Made the playoffs 6 times in 16 seasons.

Outside of his two Super Bowl runs, he:

    Never won a playoff game.

Super Bowl years aside, playoff record is underwhelming.

    6. Regular Season Performance

Winning seasons: Only 7 in 16 years.

Summary of Why He’s Getting In Despite the Evidence

    - Longevity in the Passing Era:#10 all-time in:

    Passing yards: 57,023

    Passing touchdowns: 366

    Passing completions: 4,895

However, Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers rank higher in these categories.

    - Super Bowl Wins Over Tom Brady:

Defeating the Patriots, especially the 16-0 team in 2007, has elevated his legacy disproportionately.

  13. McDermott's decisions arguably cost us 1-2 games per year. But there's no guarantee we would have won those games anyway if he makes the hindsight decision. Also, we beat both the Chiefs and Lions and still have a shot at having the most wins in a season in Bills history. I was certainly not expecting to be this good this season.

  14. When I took my son to an MLS playoff game between the New York Red Bulls (a New Jersey team) vs NYCFC at Citi Field, the NYCFC fans started a chant "GOOOO...BACK...TO...NEW...JERRRRSEEEEY" in the style of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.

Excuse my ignorance because I don't live in the area and only catch 1-2 games in Buffalo per year...and it's never the jets game.

But do we do this? And if not, can you please start it tomorrow. It was hilarious at the Red Bulls game.

I wish McDermott was still the DC. I thought post eagles game last year, he had that defence playing amazing.

I preferred Sean's more aggressive style as it lead to more sacks. But outside of that stat, Leslie had better DVOA. Sean’s D folded in key moments against the Eagles, Bucs, Broncos, Pats, Giants, Chiefs. #1 based on beating up cupcakes in the regular season.

2021 - A great defense isn't giving up 42 points to any team (especially when there were zero turnovers by the offense to give a short field), and definitely isn't allowing the game tying score in 13 seconds.

2022 - A great defense isn't giving up 31 points to Skylar Thompson or giving up 27 points at home in the Divisional round.

The scheme of this defense plays well in the regular season, and gets obliterated in the playoffs. This has been true since the corpse of Philip Rivers was one or two passes from upsetting us in the Wild Card.

I think I understand better now. You fundamentally disagree with Sean's defensive philosophy regardless of coordinator. Sean blew :13 when he took over play calling but with a top ranked D it shouldn't have been that close anyway. It's hard to compare the 2022 season in the playoffs because of the near-death of Damar – sucked the life out of the whole squad. 10 points on O vs Bengals isn't going to cut it with all the D injuries we had.
