  1. Tyron's Friend:

I make the comparison to Rice because every media outlet has made the comparison and I don't see it.  We agree on McCoy, get him out of here.  But he isn't, so why not Hunt?  Hypocrisy runs rampant in all avenues of sport, especially the NFL.  This team is entertainment, nothing more.  And they've done a pretty crappy job at it for the past 20 years.  I'm not looking for the Bills set an example of moral high ground.  I know what's right and wrong and teach my children such.  If you don't think players already on the current roster haven't done the same if not worse, you're taking a naive view of things. Why do you watch the NFL at all?

He's 23 and obviously very immature.  Like I originally said, in this situation it takes two for it to have escalated to the point it did.  Sometimes people need guidance and positive influence.  Who's to say the holy rollers within the organization couldn't "save" this young man.  I've seen enough domestic matters to know the woman isn't always the damsel in distress.  Not PC, but I don't care.  If that was my daughter I'd be disappointed in her, too.  Is it ever right to hit a woman, no.  But I also was fortunate to have been raised in an environment that stressed what was right/wrong and didn't have to rely on certain survival mechanisms.  I think of Warren Buffett in his documentary when he stated he was lucky to be born male, white and into a good family. He'll pay the price, more so then the average Joe.  Why can't the Bills help this young man and entertain us in the process?

  2. After watching the video I don't see the comparison to Ray Rice.  Was he in the wrong and a total idiot?  Yes.  It takes two, and this young lady was instigating the process every step of the way.  The Ray Rice video was in another league in comparison.  He was cut because he lied to the organization on the severity of the altercation.  He'll pay the price, but compared to Big head Ben,  Mixon, Hill, Hardy, or take your pick of FSU QBs, he'll be claimed.  Why shouldn't it be the Bills?  The roster isn't full of choir boys.  If he gets help and can show he's doing everything the right way it's a low risk acquisition.  Football is entertainment, as we've seen, the industry is cesspool.  We shouldn't bank on them on being a societal moral compass. McCoy is on this team, enough said.

  3. If Sammy had/has an "ego" problem, the Bills as always had a talent evaluation and value problem.

Why hasn't Julio, Antonio, Deandre, OBJ, Larry Fitz & other great receivers all bolted as soon as their contracts are up or 5th season?  Because their teams value them (yes some arguing and in-fighting maybe), but all are thrown the ball and paid.......

The stupidity of these arguments are ridiculous.

Sammy is none of those guys.  5+ years in the league, where coaches jobs are on the line week to week, if he was that good they'd find a way to get him to produce.

Whatever you think about Gruden, it's obvious he's arrogant. With that in mind winning with guys YOU DIDN'T BRING IN isn't going to be good enough, he has to prove he can do it with his own star players. Add the fact that a lot of people say he only won a Super Bowl with Dungy's team and that probably makes him even more likely to try and do it on his own terms.

Nobody mentions that he beat his old team.  Who's to say he wouldn't have won with the Raiders?  Dungy was a good coach, something was missing with that team and Gruden brought it.  Tampa got really old quick, and didn't have the 1st rd picks to reload.  Ego then did him in.

  5. Green Bay doesn't normally look to FA to add to the roster talent.  They were known for not signing FAs and doing their roster upgrades strickly through the draft.

The Bills can't rely on cap space to fix this mess.  Most good FAs are locked up before they hit the market.  A few exceptions can be made to that rule, but most of the time injury history and age play a pivotal role in why they're available.  I've never understood front offices that had to have "their guys"?  I think the sign of good coaching and personnel people is making the puzzle pieces you have work, adapting your scheme to the strengths of the roster.

  6. I didn't write the post to start a movement of panic and to run Allen out of town.  I'm just concerned we haven't seen more to cling to, a defining moment as a passer, a spark that we can pull hope from and kick back like Aaron Rodgers and just RELAX.  I appreciate people referencing all-time great QBs and some early struggles they had, but were in a different league now.  WIth the NFL stealing plays from the college game we're seeing guys compete and be competent year one and two.  I just don't see players given three years to make it anymore.  If it hits the three-year mark and the jury is still out, the HC and GM are given the boot most likely if a corner hasn't been turned.  I just hope we're able to see a marked improvement moving forward.

  7. With the small sample size, we've been exposed to I'm trying to keep a positive perspective on Allen's future development.  I just can shake my biggest fear with this kid, I'm seeing too many parallels with Locker.  I know the supporting cast isn't great but we're not seeing much in terms of adjustment and reading what the D is going to give him.  I support the others that advocate for taking another QB, not in the first round, but one in the 2-4 range if they see something special.  I hope ego doesn't get in the way as it has with Peterman.  The Redeskins did it with a guy they sold their souls for, Cousins was an insurance policy.  WIth the line the way it is why is the OC not focusing on quick slants an out the backfield routes, or is Allen missing them?  TEs and RBs seem to be the safety blankets for young QBs, we're not seeing it here.  Those are two positions where the Bills actually talent.  Who knows...

Much of the pre-draft analysis on Locker looks like this below.  It's hitting a little close to home.

STRENGTHS: Locker is tall enough with a sturdy muscular build and excellent athleticism for the position. Has a rocket arm to make all the throws and fits the ball into tight windows. Shows the ability to scan the field and check down with very good touch. Extremely mobile and can make plays with his feet. Fierce competitor and leader.

WEAKNESSES:  Does not show the ability to consistently make his progressions and find the open man. Misses on too many throws and his accuracy can be erratic at times. Abandons the pass early and relies too much on his feet. Plays a bit recklessly and has missed a lot of games due to injury.

    Ertz too.

I don't want Shady to leave but I think he is exactly what the Eagles need to push for another SB.

His running/receiving out of the back field would force opposing Ds to defend the entire field.

Everyone is forgetting what Clement did in the Superbowl.  100+ receiving yards, as a rookie.  He deserves a shot at 15+ carries.  I think he fits the offense of Philadelphia better at this stage, he hits a hole and goes.  The OL isn't good enough right now for a dancer.  I wouldn't be surprised if no move at RB is made for Philadelphia.

Eagles are not going to the playoffs this year. Half their players don't even look like they are trying. Got their money, got their ring, got their endorsements and playing at half speed.

We'll see.  Don't be gravedancing just yet.  You could say the same for the Patriots for the past 5 years, 5 games in.  Who's winning their division genius?

How will a 3rd get the deal done for Bell? Steelers are pretty much assured of a third round comp pick if they let him walk this offseason, no?

It's what people who make a living gathering NFL info are reporting.  My take is this:

    1. He's owed a lot of money.

    2. How many teams have the money to fit him in this year?

    3. He could be a rental

    4. He has had a lot of touches in his short career (his primary concern too)

    5. Locker room dynamic

    6. When is he going to be ready to play?

As talented as he is, not very many teams can make it work.  If a 3rd can get it done and you've worked out contract details behind scenes, you pull the trigger.

  11. I'd disagree, with reading the posts that go back 3+ weeks.  Lots of McCoy fluffing here.  I want him gone for a bag of balls if need be.  He's not going to be here next year, let's move on.  It's not ideal for Allen, but if he's the real deal he'll have to adapt.  I'd like to see a move for possibly Duke Johnson.  My personal bias is shining through, I know.

  12. I think the Eagles are using the Bills as leverage to get Bell.  LaCanfora said about an hour ago on the radio, here, that a 3rd would likely get the Bell deal done.  He's hearing the locker room Pitt isn't sure if Bell would be welcome back with open arms.  That should wake a bunch of Bills fans up that think LM has 2nd-3rd value.  Each week that passes the value/realistic ask drops.  Howie isn't looking for a rental, he's looking for a 2-3 year option.

  13. Maclin is a true pro.  I think we need that here.  He can't be asking for too much...* Just read he wants no part of the team.

Problem is, having a lot of cap room is great, but, a curse too.  Most good/great players don't hit free agency and those that do have an *.  The Bills don't have a core group of young talent worth re-upping now.

It's bad enough that Buffalo has to overpay to get FA talent to consider playing there.
